1 What is like having a crush?

December 1st 1999 was the day Mia Zhao came into this world. Like any other normal children, she has a loving family. Her dad Lin Zhao is chinese, her mom Kim Min Young is korean, and older brother whose name is Jack Zhao.

You might be wondering why they name their kid Jack and Mia. Lin and Min Young met in a movie theatre when Titanic was being replayed. They've decided to use Jack and Rose as their kids' names. But two weeks before Mia was born, one of Min Young's close friends Mia Li passed away due to a car accident. Mia and Min Young were close friends and treated each other like sisters. In memory of her friend, Min Young and her husband Lin decided to name their daughter after her.

Jack is three years older than Mia so from time to time, he would always bully Mia. But when Mia is bullied by other people, he would always stand up for her. He wouldn't allow anyone to say bad things to her or hurt her.

Time flies, and Mia is already 16. A new year of high school for her and the last year of high school Jack. Jack was supposed to graduate last year, but because he got into an accident, he didn't finish it and had to restart another year.

"Mia! Wake up." A knock came through the door.

Mia groans and rolls to the side of the bed to check her alarm clock.

*7:15am*

"Mom, it's too early. School starts at 8:30." After saying it Mia pulls up her blanket and covers it over her head. The door opens and Min Young comes in.

"How long are you going to sleep?" as Min Young pulls the covers down and walks to her window to open the blinds. "Your brother has already gotten all ready and is eating breakfast already. If you keep laying on your bed like that, don't expect him to wait for you later."

Mia whines, and forces herself out the bed. She knows she can't win over her mom, and obediently walks to the bathroom to get ready.

"Good morning," as she says with a yawn. Mia pulled out the chair, and sat down to eat her breakfast.

"Did you stay up late again yesterday playing games?" as Lin Zhao asks. Mia looks over her dad, and quickly denies it. "No, I didn't play games. I went to bed real early yesterday." She said it with a smile on her face.

Jack laughs hearing her saying that. "Then yesterday night when I went out to drink water, how come I hear 'Sophia help me' 'I'm gonna get killed.'"

Mia gives him a dead stare and kicks his leg under the table.

"Ouch! MIA ZHAO!" Jack yells.

Mia acts like she did nothing and continues to eat her breakfast. Min Young came out from the kitchen, "you both hurry up and eat. Don't be late on your first class."

"Yes mom," as Mia responds back.

"Going now," as both Jack and Mia grab their bags and wear their shoes.

"Mia Zhao, I'm warning you right now. If you cause any trouble in school, I'll definity cut all the wires for your video games," as Min Young said it like she's not joking about it. Jack laughs at Mia, and walks out the door before Mia.

"What are you laughing at?" Mia closes the door and runs after him.

Both Jack and Mia biked to school, and it didn't take them less than 20 minutes until they arrived at the main entrance. They locked their bike outside the school, and started walking in.

"I'm gonna head this way in. Make sure not to cause any trouble," as Jack reminds her again.

Mia gives him a hand signal telling him to leave, and starts running to her friend.

"Sophia!!!" That's right. This Sophia was the one that Jack was talking about during breakfast this morning.

"Mia, where's your brother?"

Mia looks at her, and has a smirk on her face. "If you wanted to see him, then you should come over to my house after school." Mia knows what's going on in Sophia's mind. They've been friends since they were in day care. They never hide any secrets between each other.

"All right, I haven't seen Auntie and Uncle for so long," Sophia said. "Just say that you want to see my brother. What's so big of a deal is it. It's not like I'm gonna tease you or anything." Then Mia stops Sophia. "Sofi, be honest with me. Why do you even like my brother? It's not like he's handsome or smart." Hearing what she said, Sophia slaps Mia's arm.

"I don't allow you to say that. Your brother is handsome, smart, nice, and many many more strengths. Do you hear me?" as Sophia looks at Mia seriously. Seeing Sophia like this, Mia couldn't help but to break her laughs. "Helping him already huh? You wanted to be my sister in-law that bad?" Mia saids it and starts running in the school.

Sophia's face shoots bright red, and starts running after Mia. "Mia, you stand right there." Mia turned around and gave her a face. As Mia is running, she bumps into two people.

"Sorry," as Mia said and walks away without seeing who she bumps into.

The two guys turn around to see Mia who disappeared into the busy hallway. "That girl looks very familiar. Don't you think so John?" as his best friend Vincent looks at him.

"Every girl looks familiar to you. Let's go." John turns around and starts walking away.

"But she does really look familiar."

John didn't answer him, and just quietly walked.
