1 Regret.

" Oh. My. God." a woman groaned as she walked into the washroom. She let down her hair and started to walk to another woman, touching up on her makeup. "What is it Xiqu?" the other woman asked Xiqu, the beauty queen of the office, while she carefully applied her mascara.

" Its that crazy CEO! My team worked so hard on that presentation and she just rejected out idea proposal before we got to the fourth slide of our presentation, saying that she 'knows' it will be a failure' I mean, who does she think she is? Just because she is CEO doesn't mean she is some kind of psychic! " Xiqu said whilst crossing her arms angrily.

" Come on Xiqu, dont get angry over unreasonable people like her, it will create wrinkles on your face and then that beautiful boyfriend of yours may leave you! Speaking of boyfriends, do you think she has ever had one?" the other woman said, changing the topic to appease the fuming colleague of hers.

Upon the thought of her CEO, the cold hearted Li Rulin having a boyfriend and her own boyfriend in the same sentenced, she nearly gagged. " That iceberg and a boyfriend, much less my boyfriend should never be in the same sentence! I will tell you this, if that woman with a block of ice as a heart ever even shoes signs of affection, I vow that will drink bleach after changing my name to idiot!" Xiqu scoffed while she combed through her silky hair with her hands.

Little did the two women know, while they had their conversation, the mighty CEO that they had been speaking of, sat in a toilet cubicle, listening to their conversation, interested after she heard the familiar voice of her old primary school classmate and school beauty, Xu Xiqu.

When they brought up the fact that even at her age, 28, she has yet to have a boyfriend or even a crush before in her life, or at least that is what most people assume. The fact hit her hard and regret started washing up on her when she thought about him, the boy who had her back that day, the only boy that she had ever had feelings for...

Snapping out of her reverie, she decided to go out to give the two women a dressing down for making fun of her but as she stood up, she realised that they had long gone.

She sat back down. Her head in her hands. She had heard these types of comments ever since she started working at the company, at the age of 18. She had always ignored the comments as she had been brought up by her guardians to believe that feelings and relationships are useless and a waste of time, as instructed by her parents. At the thought of her parents, anger brewed up in her. If it were not for them, she would not have lost the only love of her life when she was 18 and would not have to bear the guilt of ghosting the boy after her parents forced her to start working at the company and stop seeing the boy and even threatened to get rid of him if she did not comply.

The longer she thought of all the things her parents had forced her to do, she started to think that perhaps they truly do love the company more than her, just as that boy had said to her the last time that she saw him.

At the thought of what her parents forced her to do, tears, for the first time in 10 years, flowed down her cheeks and would not stop. Rulin just put her face in her hands and let the long-held-back-tears flow down her rosy cheeks.
