1 A Scientific Malfunction

Milo, a 40 year old man, was going through a scientific breakthrough. While observing the homunculus inside the test tube, he was beginning to imagine the fame he will attain in the future.

In the white and massive machine, lies in the center a circular tube filled with water. Inside the water, was a body with multiple tubes connected on its body, it was the first ever succession of a homunculus.

It was crouching, eyes closed and fully floating. The homunculus was in its ripest stage and the procedure was almost done, "My life's greatest work, finally, I will be recognized!" Milo was getting pumped up.

An hour later...

It was time. He went on his desk and wrote the code to the activation, typing so fast, you can see it getting blurry.

Milo pressed enter and the red light on top of the circular tube began to turn green. The homunculus' eyes opened, "Yes! Yes!!" Milo was incredibly happy as he stood up in joy.

"Error! Error!" The system was shouting an emergency distress. Milo, who was happy instantly frowned, "What happened?" Milo panicked as he looked through the data in his computer.

He glanced at the homunculus, who was staring at him with cold eyes. The homunculus started to malfunction, his face was bloating while his body was about to explode.

Trying to save the situation, he looked at all the files but there was no sign of error, "What the hell is happening?" Milo was getting frustrated and accidentally pressed the release for the tubes.

The homunculus' blood started to fill in the tube as it replaced the once blue water with red. "Error! Error!" The system was getting noisier by the second.

Milo was flooding with sweat, "My life's work, I will not let it go waste!" If he were to fail, he would need another twenty or so years.

Milo, thinking back, abandoned his family and his lover just for his experiment, "I will not fail!" Milo was flooding the system with information on the possibilities for the success rate to rise.

But... The information Milo has given was too much to handle. The system began to overload the system with procedures on succeeding it but the machine can't take it.

Boooooom...

The machine exploded and everything inside the lab turned to hell. It sended out shrapnels and fire. It destroyed the entire lab including Milo, who was hit with thousands of debris and radiation.

Lying on the ground, he noticed the homunculus lets out a tear. He was about to die but... he was happy, "The first... ever... homunculus.... has... emotions...haha" Milo spurred out blood and fell unconcious.

With the resulting loss of blood, Milo died a fortunate yet unfortunate death. He was remembered to be the first to make a prototype of a homunculus.

In the dark abyss, Milo heard sounds of language he cannot understand. He began to get curious and opened his eyes.

He realized that he was being carried by a beautiful woman. There was also quite a handsome man on the corner, looking at me cheerfully.

"Wait.. Why are they huge?" Milo began to realize and looked at his hands. He noticed that his hands have the tenderness and appearances of a baby, "No way..."

Though Milo was a scientist; to relieve his stress, he reads novels and in particular the fantasy ones. He always grew curious if magic exist in a world where it is dominated by science.

In one particular novels were reincarnation and being reborn. It was one of his inspirations on creating the homunculus, how they should be born on this world.

He instantly believed his instincts that he was... reborn. As a scientist, he has a good grasp of reality and how they work and his instincts told him it was no dream.

"Hey wo... mom." Milo shouted but what the other side of the party heard was a goo goo gah gah noise. Milo realized that his voice box hasn't fully matured yet, "This is a pain..." he thought.

They were still talking to a language Milo could not understand but he knew they were incredibly happy.

4 weeks passed...

Milo began to understand a small part of the language but what he was interested the most was the control of magic. It was different on how Milo read on the novels, he felt as atoms changed in the sorroundings when they use it.

Apparently, the atoms of this world is called magic. He observed his mother as the water from the sink started floating but it was a little wriggly, they might not have the correct knowledge on how to use it.

He also observed his father who uses fire magic while training. Milo does not know why but he can feel the atoms moving, but what his parents always tell was that magic was moving which is strange.

I felt as oxygen began to compress and heat up, "Combustion" Milo thought. What was strange is that Father was not hurt, Milo was still not able to recognize the reason.

4 years passed and he was now a four year old which was the age where person should learn the basics of magic.

While on the backyard, his father, Alex, was teachnig him the fundamental of fire magic.

"You can use any magic in the world as long as you understand on how it works!" Alex pointed out, "In my case, I understand fire magic better." He continued.

He said that the understanding of magic is the main power on how to use it. Smart people or what they call a genius can understand it better which was obvious. People actually call chemistry here as alchemy, the study of magic.

He also said that fire magic works when you compress magic in as single point. He demonstrated it and sparked a fire that was atleast the size of a basketball.

Milo, on the year he has observed, learned to speak their language and understand the reason why fire is not burning father's hand.

[Science Time! In the hands of the user, there is a small amount of alcohol which protects the hands from a burning sensation.

You can do a little experiment and pour a little alcohol on your hand and lit it on fire but be careful, if recklessly put, the alcohol will evaporate and burn your hand.]

"What is weird is that the alcohol does not evaporate until the fire disappears" Milo muttered. He began to feel what the components of the alcohol is but he could not recognize it which made him curious.

"I never knew a new element would be added." Milo thought as he discovered that it was a whole different element, which was not discovered in his old world. He decided to name it, "Pyrocule" so it is easier to remember.

"Milo, now you try it!" Alex shouted as he grinly showed the fire in his arms.

Milo, who was a deep understand of alchemy, opened his arms. He imagined as the flow of atoms started to compress and heated up and fire came out of his arms.

He also disccovered that the weird alcohol appeared on his arms. He faintly smiled as he successfully imitated the size of his father's fire.

He looked at Alex to see he was speechless, "What's wrong dad?" Milo asked as he held the basketball-size fireball. He began to analyze the situation, thinking if it was too big or... it was not suitable for a man his age.

"Crap..." Milo forgotten the age gap, he still has the mentality of a 40 year old man. He glanced at his father again to see stars in his eyes, "Ehh?"

Milo's fire exstinguished and his father rose him up, "My son is a genius!" He happily shouted as he threw me and catch me again. It seemed like genius are highly sought out after.
