The Same Old Love

"Let me do this, princess", his hands travelled to the back of the princess. Opening the knot, he let the silk material smoothly slide down her dress. When he tried to reach out the sleeve, the princess stepped back saying, "What if we both get undressed under my bedsheets?" If it were not for the pink hue dusting the princess' cheeks, Liang would have had a rather unpleasant, dubious thought. But her constant nubbling on her lips and now reddened cheeks clearly stated that she was only nervous. Nothing else. "Okay, but only if we keep eye contact." *** "I will not marry the King, Liang. I love you. You will fight for me, right?", she looked into the eyes of the mere servant of the castle, her blue gown flowing in brilliant contrast with the colourful flowers of spring blossomed all around, her long hair tied in a beautiful braid. "I will fight for you, princess, even if it means I losing my life", he pulled the princess in for a kiss both of them had longed for days. They embraced each other under the redbud, the splashes of purple and pink petals falling off the tree with a gentle breeze. Just like the season passed, so as their lives; forgotten in the lost pages of their love story. *** Geon Junho has a vague memory of him tip-toeing and kissing a little girl on her cheek when they were sipping lemonade on a summer evening. Before leaving his little friend in tears, the boy whispered in her ear, "Eun Alice, if we meet again I'll marry you and buy you all your favourite ice creams in the world." *** Love is over for Geon Junho after being used as a f*cktoy and getting rejected by his girlfriend, Xiu. After his breakup, he meets a girl he feels strongly connected with mysteriously. However, he is confused if she is her childhood love. But what if both girls are different? And if so, who will Junho choose, his childhood love or reincarnated love? Alice thinks falling in love is the stupidest thing to do ever. She would rather live alone than be in a relationship. But fate brought her working for a CEO whose one accidental kiss opened a hidden door in her heart, perhaps one from thousands of years ago. What will happen when a lovelorn and aromantic cross path? Will they recognize their lost connection this time? *** Book Cover: Pinterest

Twisted Fate

Switching his eyes between my eyes and lips, he bit onto his lower lip and walked back to the table. Pervert.

"It won't be a big deal if I strangle him in our kitchen with the tie around his neck. No one would know", chewing on my inner cheek, I make my way towards him only to find his two bodyguards standing at the door.

"Well, that's a problem now", I grab the bottle and fill his glass. After gulping it down in one go, he reaches out his hand again. I stream the alcohol down the glass until it fills to the brim and starts flowing over its edges. He instantly pulls the glass away. I was expecting another snappy remark but nothing came. Instead, he joined the glass with his lips, the liquid cascading down his throat as his adam's apple bobs up and down. I keep pouring till the moment he rests his head on the table.

"Mr Geon, shall we leave now?", two men dressed in suits comes and stands on either side. He lifts his arms in the air signalling them to carry him. When he stands up to be held by both of his men on either side, a ring knocks down the floor.

"You drop something", I say after bending down and taking hold of it. 'I'm yours' is engraved on the inside of it.

"You must have a trash bin in your kitchen. Drop it there", even in this preoccupied state of mind he didn't let the chance of ordering me to slide away.

"You must have hands to do it by yourself. Why don't you give it a try?", who does he think he is? He must be the Geon but only in his company. He can't go bossing me around with that nasty attitude of his.

"Keep it or throw it", as he continues mumbling something, his men drag him outside to the car and drive off.

"Fucke-", just as I was about to throw the ring in his direction my phone rings, making me put the ring inside my pocket. It is Feng's call. I lock the door without any delay and hastily make my feet to the bus stop.

"Oh, God!", I groan staring at my wristwatch. It is already a quarter past twelve. Means no bus. I don't use taxis. They're expensive for me to afford yet. I button up my coat as the cold wind was chilling my already covered-under-many-layers-of-warm-clothing. body.

In winter, Feng packs me as much as possible just to prevent me from having a fever that I'm likely to have every time. My feet finally come to halt in front of our apartment. After unlocking the door I enter the living room. While trying to keep my posture pleasant I smile only to meet the bloodshot eyes of Jin.

He must have been struggling with his sleep. He never goes off to sleep until I'm back. I thought to text him that I would be late but that prick didn't let me take my eyes off him for a second.

"Thank God! I was damn worried about you!", after aiming the phone at the couch, he rushes toward me and pulls me into a hug.

"Are you all right? Did something happen?", he is always like this. Well, it's not his fault. After the incident, he turned out to be more protective.

"I'm okay, Feng. Nothing happened", after a good few seconds he pulls back to look into my eyes.

"Where have you been?", he asks in a calm tone.

"At the restaurant", letting the duffel bag drop on the floor, I reply.

"You could've texted, you damfool!", here he goes. First, he makes sure I am safe and sound, then he gets on with his wisdom lessons.

"You're right, Fennie", a sheepish grin appears on my face as I retreat from his arms.

"But then how would you be throwing tantrums at me", with a sudden outburst of laugh I run to my bedroom.

"You witless!", he screams at the top of his lungs while running after me.

"Gotcha."

That's unfair! How am I supposed to compete with that large masculine fine body of his with those large a*s shoulders!

"Okay, okay", he knows well how ticklish am I, still never let a chance goes in vain.

"I take my words back now stop", I can never resist Feng's touches at sensitive areas of my body. Just the slightest touch or the anticipation of being tickled makes me laugh or cringe.

"I'm hungry, Fennie", a cute pout is all you need to make him fall for you.

"Pouting kiddo", forming his lips in pursed shape he makes his way to the door.

"I'm serious! I've not eaten anything since the afternoon", that's true. I was supposed to eat with Nari but she left earlier leaving me stuck with that douchebag.

"Wait here. I'll bring your favourite Bulgogi", a smile forms on my lips at the thought of thinly sliced meat with smoky-sweet flavour.

As he leaves, I went to my room and changed into my oversized hoodie with trousers. Sometimes I wonder how would I be doing if I hadn't found Feng? Probably crying in a corner of a dark alley. He is everything I've for now. He's just too perfect and enough for me that I can't think about anyone else in my life.

After finishing the tasty food, I lay down on my bed. With the thought of how I'd be answering the questions in tomorrow's interviews, I slowly drift off to sleep.

"Alice, breakfast is ready!", my daily alarm goes ringing in my ears as usual.

"Coming!", today is going to be super busy.

I drag my feet to the bathroom, brush my teeth, wash my face before applying sunscreen and tie my hair in a ponytail. Since I'll be appearing in interviews, I wear a loose blazer jacket paired with a half-white turtleneck shirt underneath and welkin blue pencil pants matching the colour of the blazer. Putting on my sneakers I sling my mobile into the bag and make my way to the table outside our open kitchen.

"Woa", my mouth gets watery at the sight of freshly made pancakes with a topping of butter and seasonal berries.

"Here's your banana milk", he passes a glass of banana shake.

"Get yourself a girlfriend already", stuffing my mouth with gooey butter flavoured bites, I drink on the milk.

"Not as long as you've got a boyfriend", I've been hearing this for years. He always says he won't have a relationship until I've someone else by my side to take care of me.

"Planning to die alone I guess?", why does he have to act this stubborn? I can look after myself.

I can.

I can.

I can't.

Seldom thought of the same incident leaves me sweating all over again.

"Together", getting up from his seat he walks over to my chair.

"Tomorrow and forever", I draw my pinky finger out.

He locks it with his little finger saying, "Forever and a day."

We smile at each other for a nice few seconds.

"When breakfast isn't ready, you being like 'Fennie I'm getting late! Why can't you wake your sleepy a*s a little earlier?' Aren't you getting late now?", mocking me at the times when I can't fire back at him has been become one of his favourite hobbies.

"Not replying to your sarcastic statements today Fennie. I owe you this one", I wink at him and step out of the apartment.

"I'll get a job today no matter what!"

Time skips

"Remove the virus from their systems? What do I look like to them? An antivirus? Huh, what a thick-headed interviewer!", six! I've been through damn six interviews.

It's already afternoon. I've only half an hour to reach the restaurant. In a state of utter weariness, I enter another building.

"Hello, my name is Alice. I'm here for an interview", I tell the lady who is sitting at the counter on the right side of the entrance.

"I'm sorry but we don't have a vacancy", she replies apologetically.

"It's okay. Thank you", this shitty diploma is of no use! Did I spend years only to beg for the jobs? Disgusting!

"Wait", I heard her calling when I turn around to leave.

"I'm sorry I forgot. You can head to floor 16. First room from the right", I take an elevator to the said floor.

When I exit the elevator the door ding opened and closed without anyone pressing the buttons.

"Is their elevator malfunctioning?", I shrug the thought off and enter the room after knocking on it twice.

"Come in", a grey-haired male sitting on the chair welcomes me with an eye smile.

"Hello. My name is Alice. I'm here for a job", I tell him as he gestures me to sit on the chair placed across his.

"What's your qualification, Miss Alice?", he asks as I hand him my diploma.

"I believe it's your skills that pay off when you step into a practical world rather than this piece of paper", I smile as he goes through my documents.

"You're not an experienced person, Miss Alice", how would I have that damn experience when no one had ever been willing to take me in!

"Experience comes from trying and failing and trying again better this time Mr Wang. Sadly I've been through this phase in my real life but never got a chance to fail in this field because people like you would never trust an inexperienced like me. Now, how can you justify your statement of me lacking experience?"

Damn, Alice! Can't you keep your mouth shut for a second!

Wang? Thanks to my quick instincts for glancing over at the wooden cubicle holder positioned at the left side of the table with his name tag. He smiles proudly as if feeling some sort of satisfaction and slowly glances away while getting up.

"I never take interviews, be that as they may somehow are linked to Mr Geon", he walks to my side and stands in front of me.

"I'm impressed by your straightforward and confident personality. Nevertheless, it is slightly risky when you're at a job interview. Not everyone comprehends the real need of such a blunt attitude", I slowly stand to my feet still facing him.

"Tao, have you emailed me the list of-", another voice enters the room.

"Let's give you the experience Miss Alice. Mr Geon, you said you need a personal assistant. I've got the perfect one for you."

OH MY GOD! I finally got a job. The grey-haired signals me to turn around as he backed off to stand next to the raven-haired side.

"Your boss, Mr Geon."

No way in the damn hell! Am I standing in the Geon corporation! How did I end up here! He's the bastard from the last night! Feng! Fennie I'm doomed!

"If you've approved her, it's a yes from me as well", raven-haired says, looking at me.

Those dark eyes seem different from last night. Lifeless. As if someone has sucked the life out of them. Last night he was more in a vulnerable state but possessing emotions. Right now he doesn't look less than a corpse.

"Congratulations on your first job, Miss Alice."

Grey-haired reaches his hand out as the bastard walks out of the room.

No! Out of all the people why this f*cking bastard! I don't want this job!!! Why only in my f*cking twisted fate?!!!
