A Prodigy at the Party

After their brief encounter with the king, they made their way into the hall were quite a few other families had already gathered. There were families from barons, all the way up to dukes. Their children were roaming around and mingling with each other. His parents urged him into the fray which he didn't particularly mind since he had long adapted to being able to get along with kids in this world.

He roamed around the room introducing himself and greeting others. This lasted for about twenty minutes before the king and his daughter made their appearance. His daughter had an air of arrogance to her just by the look that she gave the room when she entered.

"Hello everyone, allow me to introduce my youngest daughter, Gwen." the king said as he too pushed his daughter into the fray of the other kids.

Many kids made their way to greet her. They were all out to make a good impression as she could be their ticket into the royal family. Adam gave her a brief glance before making his way over to the drink station and pouring himself a drink. At the table, there were two girls that could only be twins. There was only one slight difference, one had pointed ears and silver hair with brown streaks and the other looked like a normal child except her hair was silver and blonde.

"I wonder if I have ever heard of anyone so gifted by the elements." said the one with pointed ears.

"I doubt it as I would definitely remember someone like that." said the other.

"It is impolite to speak about someone when they can clearly hear you." Adam said with a slight smirk.

They both blushed a little with embarrassment as they hadn't realized that he was actually paying attention. They hurriedly introduced themselves as Elaine and Nell. They were twins born between a human and an elf. One had inherited the spirit and earth elements that are characteristic of elves and the other had inherited her mother and fathers strongest traits of spirit and lightning.

"It is a pleasure to meet you both. My name is Adam and as you both have aptly noticed, I was gifted very well by the elements. My elements are holy, dark, and spirit." Adam said with a slight bow.

"Does that mean you are able to use all of the elements at will?" asked a voice behind Adam.

Adam turned to see that Princess Gwen was standing right behind him. She seemed to be annoyed that Adam hadn't made his way over to greet her yet and was instead talking with two other girls.

"Yes princess, I am, or rather will be, able to wield all the elements." Adam answered politely

"Hmph, a jack of all trades usually doesn't go very far in life because they spend too much time learning all the spells. It is much better to be a master of just one or two elements." said Gwen with disdain.

"Better to be a jack of all trades than a political tool." stated Adam before he turned his back on the princess.

There was a stunned silence that had settled over the hall at that moment. All those present were shocked at the scene that had just occurred, with the exception of the king and Adam's parents.

"I demand a duel to see which of us is better!!" screamed the princess before Adam could take more than a few steps.

"Fine." said Adam as he turned and walked to the center of the room.

The two made their way to the center of the room, which quickly cleared of people. They then stood facing each other as a butler of the royal family stepped forward to officiate.

"Princess, state your conditions for winning." said the butler.

"If I win, Adam Saints will be my servant until we leave for school in three years." said the princess with a smug look on her face.

"Young sir?" The butler turned to him and asked.

"I agree to this. I will place a handicap on myself. I will not move from this spot and if I do, I lose. If I win however, the princess will have to get down on her hands a knees and beg for forgiveness." Adam stated.
