CEO

"Xiao Mian! Who was she?!"

The receptionist named Xiao Mian had returned to the front desk in a daze and stayed in a daydream state for quite a while. Her fellow receptionist couldn't stand the itch any longer and started to pester Xiao Mian about the identity of the mysterious ravishingly beautiful woman.

"A goddess..." Xiao Mian murmured.

"She certainly has the looks!" The other receptionist crossed her arms on her chest, "Do you think she is someone's mistress?"

When Xiao Mian heard her, she playfully hit her arm. "Xiao Lan, watch your mouth! What kind of mistress could have the exclusive keycard?!"

"She has the keycard?" Xiao Lan gasped, "Isn't the keycard exclusive to Chairman Bai and Vice President Bai only? Even CEO Zhao didn't have it!"

"It's ex-CEO Zhao now! Chairman Bai relocated him to a branch office and gave the position to his granddaughter, Bai Ruoxi!"

"That's right." Xiao Lan sneered, "I wonder what kind of spoiled brat she would be. She's inexperienced, but just because her grandfather is Chairman Bai, she easily got the position of CEO."

Xiao Mian shook her head and sighed, "Don't let anybody hear you. If she's truly spoiled and unreasonable, you might lose your job in a blink of an eye."

"Aiya," Xiao Lan was unconvinced. Her expression was full of disdain as she waved her hand. "Nobody would bother with her. We don't even know how she looks like yet."

"Could it be that the goddess is Bai Ruoxi?" Xiao Mian whispered lowly.

When Xiao Lan heard that, she laughed in full mockery. "Are you stupid? That woman has a strong and impressive aura! How could you compare her to a spoiled heiress?"

"Xiao Lan, as you said, we don't even know how Bai Ruoxi looks like yet." Xiao Mian knitted her forehead in disagreement.

Seeing her friend's doubtfulness, Xiao Lan took out her phone. "Let's search for her on the internet, okay? I bet--"

"Why are you chattering around?! Do your job!"

A sudden roar immediately startled the two receptionists. They looked up to find one of the board members, Mr. Zhao standing in front of them with fierce looks.

"Yes, Sir!" They answered simultaneously and indulged themselves in their works, throwing the thought to search up Bai Ruoxi to the back of their head.

Mr. Zhao then walked to the elevator with a tightened jaw and a daunting expression on his elderly face. He was fuming in rage.

How could he not be angry? Mr. Zhao had always been acting all high and mighty, abusing his authority because he had his nephew as a backup. But now that his nephew was gone, he was no different from the other ordinary board members!

"Curse them!" He landed a kick onto the elevator door. "This can't do. I need to think of a way to kick that Ruoxi brat out and bring back Mingkun."

Mr. Zhao kept on racking his brain for underhanded tricks to overthrow Bai Ruoxi. It wasn't until the elevator reached his designated floor with a loud ding that he was pulled back from his daydream. He made his way into the board room and hurriedly stepped inside. Mr. Zhao didn't manage to notice the abnormally chilling temperature inside as well as the eerie silence.

After he sat down and calmed his nerves, Mr. Zhao finally raised his head and found himself staring right at the woman he'd been thinking of scheming against.

Bai Ruoxi!

He looked around the room and saw the other board members sitting with their head hung down. What was happening?

"Mr. Zhao," Bai Ruoxi called with a hint of sarcasm in her voice. "I thought you wouldn't show up anymore."

"What?"

Mr. Zhao viewed his watch for the time and immediately frowned. It was nine passed ten, he had only been late for ten minutes, what's the big deal? This brat was deliberately making a fuss out of small matters!

"Miss Bai," he called, intentionally dropping her title as the CEO. "Why isn't Chairman Bai or Vice President Bai here? You're still young and inexperienced, shouldn't they be accompanying you?"

In other words, Bai Ruoxi was still a useless brat who knew nothing about managing a company. Mr. Zhao was also indirectly insulting Bai Wangshu and Bai Shizhen for being irresponsible as to let Bai Ruoxi come alone into the meeting room.

Bai Ruoxi easily saw through the meaning of his words. She sneered inwardly and leaned back onto her leather chair with a leg elegantly crossed.

When Mr. Zhao saw her calm yet taunting demeanor, annoyance arose in him. He looked around again and realized that the other board members had seemingly hung their head even lower.

"Mr. Zhao," Bai Ruoxi chuckled icily, causing shivers to run down his spine. "Congratulations, you are one of the 7 people whom I've fired today."

"What did you say?!"

Mr. Zhao stood up and hit the table violently, causing the cups on it to shake. His eyes instantly turned bloodshot as he bared his teeth, "Who do you think you are?!"

Bai Ruoxi smiled and propped her chin gracefully. "Old age must have turned you forgetful, Mr. Zhao." Her eyes narrowed dangerously, "Who else could I be if not the CEO?"

"Y-you! How dare you speak that way to me?! I'm your elder and a senior!"

"A shame that you don't act properly like one." She cocked her head slightly, gesturing her newly appointed secretary to hand an envelope to Mr. Zhao.

When the elderly man opened the brown wrap and saw what was inside, his face turned green and purple before finally turning ashen. He immediately tore the papers into pieces and hit the table again. "Insolent!"

"Sexually assaulting women, abusing your wife, misusing your authority as a board member, and so on." Bai Ruoxi tapped her finger onto the glass table. "Pray tell, Mr. Zhao, is that how an elder and senior should act?"

"You're slandering me! These are all fake!"

"I sure hope they were." She sighed as though to express her regret, "You have contributed a lot to our company and I truly appreciate that, however, I can't tolerate such disgusting behavior."

Mr. Zhao raised a finger and pointed it at Bai Ruoxi. "Curse you! I'm calling my lawyer right away! I'm throwing you to jail for blabbering such nonsense!"

"Nonsense?" Bai Ruoxi stood up and circled the table, strolling towards Mr. Zhao. "My grandfather and father might be kind enough to overlook your personal matter, but I--" she stopped in front of him with a domineering presence, causing his knees to tremble. "--am not."

"The police will be here soon." She lightly tapped Mr. Zhao's shoulder, but the impact of her words seemed to be stronger as he immediately slumped onto his chair again.

"Meeting adjourned."
