The Journey Begins

"No problem, just be careful not to die or we'll be following you soon after."

Matthew just stared at the campus road as he sighed and thought:

"My trip to find out the destiny of my parents has finally begun, even with everything I've been through so far, it's only been a day, I hope they are well."

Then Matthew began to pet and play with Little Black as he watched what was happening on campus.

Its campus had an extremely strange landscape, contained hints of something like a paradise, but also contained similarities to a hell. Everything was quiet and there was a typical summer morning sun that accompanied a beautiful landscape of flowers, grass and trees scattered all over the campus, with also a few touches of human construction and roads.

But in this extremely beautiful landscape and that would enchant anyone before the apocalypse there were smoke in the sky coming from different corners of the city and some even extremely close to the campus and there were also pools of dried blood scattered by almost every location that the eye could to see.

It was then that the bus left campus and the sight only worsened, this time did not have the trace of flowery beauty that the campus had. There was only concrete and steel stained with blood, fire spreading, windows and doors of shops and houses broken in all the places one looked at.

Thobias, Bethany and Julie then walked to the front as they held expressions of sadness on their faces. Bethany then said as they approached Matthew and Terry:

"Although it be an extremely unreal dream, I hope that only here it is in this situation or we can be the last group of living humans."

Thobias then put on an expression as if he had heard the biggest bullshit in the world:

"It is extremely improbable that we are the last humans alive in the world, although the zombies are terrifying they would not be as terrifying as the weapons we have and even if they were in case the situation became precarious we would still have nuclear bombs and so far I have not seen any used, at least not here. "

Julie then put on a look and looked at Thobias as if he were an idiot and said:

"Could you be less rational? We're all sad about what's going on here, you can have a high IQ but your EQ is definitely low."

Thobias then sighed as he said that he was only trying to give them hope and that they had misunderstood him.

The group then stopped talking and just kept watching the landscape of destruction around them that was beginning to drift further and further as they headed toward Dallas.

The trip continued for about four hours as the group continued to try to find ways to get to Dallas, but most roads were always blocked by cars or a horde of zombies that would be standing in the middle of the road after all this disaster.

When it arrived noon the group finally managed to reach the city of Big Spring and Matthew then said:

"We will reach a gas station here and refuel the car and we will get food at the convenience store at the station, if we still need something we can stop at a market to get it, although I advise not to do this to ensure our safety."

Everyone then agreed to what Matthew said and looked at Thobias, who then watching them look at him with an expression on his face that asked what he was going to say to screw up everything, Thobias then raised his hand as if to protect himself from their accusation and said:

"I have nothing to say, what do you think I am? I just wanted to cheer you up."

The group then laughed as Terry drove to a gas station and parked in it. Matthew then spoke to the group:

"For security reasons, we're going to ride in a group, I'll be at the forefront and Bethany at the rear, killing any zombies that might come our way."

"Terry, Thobias and Julie you will be in the middle of the group and will be in charge of picking up gas and food while I and Bethany will protect you from any danger, said that we can leave now. "

Terry then hung up the bus and opened the door while Matthew left and looked around, seeing that everything was clean he signaled for the others to come. Terry, Thobias, and Julie left, followed by Bethany.

Matthew then drew his sword out of the inventory, while Bethany drew his short katana and shield. Seeing that they could move on Matthew started to walk to the station's gas pumps, checking to see if there was any fuel left, he was glad to know that no one had bothered to refuel yet. Matthew then said:

"Let's go into the store and get food, drinks and a few gallons to fill with fuel, I'm sure soon enough it will become very rare, the longer we get, the better our future will be."
