2 Chapter 02

Allison Clark's POV

"Hey Dad." I said to him as I jumped off the bottom stair, he turned and smiled, I could see two pizza boxes open on the dinning table, one pepperoni and one Hawaiian.

"Oh. My. God. Is that pizza, tell me that's pizza! I think I'm hallucinating!" I started talking really fast, something I do when I get excited or nervous.

I ran as fast as lightning to the kitchen to get the plates, usually dad gets them and he always scolds me for being forgetful, but not today. I will enjoy my pizza as soon as I can, no delays. Never.

We started eating a few minutes after with me wolfing everything down like a lunatic and my dad taking medium sized bites of pizza like a normal person. When I had finished one pepperoni and one Hawaiian pizza in five minutes, I started eating more slowly, and that gave me time to think about things other than food.

"Dad?" I asked, lifting my head.

"Yeah?"

"Did you ever give mom two necklaces with rubies on it?" I said carefully while pretending to stare at the window while looking at him through the corner of my eye. I didn't want to upset him.

"Um..." He paused before answering. "No, why?"

I turned and faced him, he didn't look sad, just confused. I let out a little sigh of relief, this means I can ask one more question since he doesn't seem bothered.

"Did you see her wearing one before?"

"Uhhhhh... no? I'm not sure."

Great. Another mystery. Why didn't mom wear the necklace? What is the point of having it if she isn't going to wear it?

We ate in silence, I kept thinking about the things that happened today, and there were so many questions swirling in my head that I didn't have much of an appetite anymore. In the end I washed the dishes and went upstairs soon after.

When I entered my room, I heard a Ding! coming from the phone on my desk, I picked it up and there were five notifications, all texts from my friend Isabella.

'Hey! Wanna hangout tomorrow?' That was from thirty minutes ago.

'Hello? Allison!!! Are you there????' Twenty-five minutes ago.

'Answer meeeeeee!'

'Pleeeeease...' Both of them were from ten minutes ago.

'HEY! IF YOU DON"T ANSWER ME I'M GONNA CALL YOU AND IF YOU DON'T ANSWER MY CALL I AM CALLING YOUR DAD!' A minute ago.

I felt the corners of my mouth lift into a smile and quickly typed in a reply before Isabella can freak out, she is one of those people who will think you got kidnapped if you don't respond to her texts right away.

'Heyyy, don't kill me, I was having dinner.'

She responds right away.

'Yay! So do you wanna go to the mall tomorrow?'

For how fast she responds, you'd think she sits by her phone all day and is just waiting for someone to text her.

'Ok, sure! What time?'

'10:30 am. I want to get some new earrings!'

Earrings are jewelry, and that reminded me of the necklaces. In the note from my mother, it said that I can give one to a friend, and I there is nobody I trust more than Isabella, she might be a chatterbox sometimes, but she knows how to keep a secret.

'Ok!'

~~~
I woke the next day with sunlight streaming through the windows, I got up and looked outside, it was a perfectly sunny day. The sky was blue with only one or two fluffy clouds, there were people walking their dogs around the neighbourhood and children on bikes. I got ready, brushed my teeth, combed my hair, and put on black leggings and a large blue t-shirt, it wasn't really fancy but it was comfortable. I made sure to take the box with the necklaces too and put it in a backpack.
I took my bike, put on my helmet and walked out of the door. I got on the bike and started pedalling, passing a few of my neighbours who were out in their front yards either just sitting in a chair and soaking up the vitamin D, or planting flowers and mowing their lawn.
The mall was pretty close to my house, and a bike could get me there with no problem. When I arrived at the mall, I was right on time, and sure enough, I could see my friend waiting by the large glass doors that was the entrance. Her back was facing me, she was on her phone, it looked like she was typing something because she was holding it with both hands and her thumbs were moving quickly across the screen.
I wanted to call out to her so I can get her attention, but I decided to do something more...entertaining. I snuck behind her as quietly as I could, and placed my hands on her shoulder the same time I yelled Boo! really loudly in her ear.
"Ahhh robber!" Isabella yelled before dropping her phone and turning around. Her shocked expression turned into relief then anger in a matter of seconds. She picked up her phone from the ground and started scolding me.
"ALLISON! What were you THINKING! I could've gotten a heart attack and died! Then I would never be able to go to an Ariana Grande concert! I will miss out on all of her new songs!" Isabella kept talking like that for another five minutes, and yes, she is a huge Ariana Grande fan.
"Ok, anyway, I need help, can you help me choose between some earrings I saw the other day when I came here? I'm really indecisive, and they both look really pretty!" Isabella asked with puppy dog eyes. Instant mood change.
"Of course! What are friends for?"
"Yassss, thank you!" She said happily.
I suddenly thought about the necklace.
"Wait! I have something for you!" I yelled at my friend who was running ahead. I ran and caught up with her.
"Here." I said, opening the box I got from my backpack, showing her the necklaces, which were super shiny under that sunlight.
"Don't put it on just yet, come to my house after, and we can put it on together." I said seriously. There was something suspicious about these necklaces, I don't want to get hurt so its best to do what the note says, just to be safe.
Seeing the shocked expression on Isabella's face, I barely suppressed a giggle. First I scared her, second I give her an expensive looking necklace which none of us can probably afford, that girl is going to have a real heart attack someday if I keep doing this.
"I...I can't take this." She stuttered, I took a necklace and stuffed it in her bag.
"There's even a note saying that I should give one to a friend." I showed her the note. "You are my friend and I trust you, so take it, just don't put it on until we get to my house."
She stood there looking at me with wide eyes, as if she was frozen in place. I sighed and dragged her by the wrist towards the shopping mall.
"Lets go look at those earrings you wanted."
