9 Fishing For the Past

The rain was heavy and forceful. Every drop that hit the ground made a loud splashing noise. Puddles started appearing and the streets got muddy. Hotaka exited the restaurant after having said goodbye to the chef. He had a hard time keeping his balance while walking through the mud and the moonless night didn't help him with this problem. He needed to figure out where his godforsaken brother was heading. Since Daiki had killed Akimitsu about a week ago he must be heading towards his next target. "Who could Daiki's next target be?" this was the question going through Hotaka's mind.

"He can't be to far off and if I know my brother, he has already planned the most effective route to achieve his goal" in his mind he started going through old members of the Kirai. Even though many years had passed, he remembered, to his surprise, a lot more than he had thought he would. Although he had always been praised for his good memory, searching through all the different ones one by one was like trying to find a single book in an ever expanding library. There was no librarian to help him though, just him and his mind, or was there actually someone who could help him?

While exploring the vast landscape that was his mind, he had remembered what they called informants or to be more exact, spies. He also remembered that one of those so-called informants had been rather close to Daiki all those years ago. Although that woman had been rather close to him and Aiko to, since she used to be one of the five members of their team. Rebecca Ito "The Foreigner" as she had also been known.

She had moved to this country in order to marry the man she loved but some unexpected "events" had occurred and she had ended up in the Kirai, at least that was what he remembered her telling him. In her and Daiki's many discussions she had mentioned Shouban more than a few times. "What more had she talked about", he thought to himself... "A lake!" he yelled without thinking. The sound of the rain had canceled out the sound of his scream but he still blushed from embarrassing himself, but a couple of seconds afterwards and he was back on track. If he wasn't mistaken she had often talked about her love for fishing and how Shouban had the best lake across the whole country. He was grasping at the smallest of straws but what else could he really do and with this rain there was sure to be a lot of fish.

He started walking towards the exit of the town, "it will take about an hour to get to the lake and then I need to get the fish to bite" He thought to himself and started heading towards the lake, "it's time to go fishing" he mumbled to himself because he had always wanted to say that but he soon blushed from the embarrassment.
