⭐ Star's Pov ⭐

It was quiet...peaceful. I couldn't remember the last time my family was happy. It had been 2 years since our pack's became one. I had become the alpha at a very young age, and grew into a strong and brave young male.

I made sure my pack was kept in order, but also made sure all their skills were used. With 41 wolves to look after, I had to say I had my paws full. Thankfully Nikita had my back as always. She was my mate and the Luna of our pack.

I loved her so much, and she always made sure she told me that. I'm currently sitting at the base of a cliff's edge, gazing out to the forest and mountains beyond. My mother never returned, and I sadly presumed she stayed by my father's side until she died.

It was sad she was gone, but I knew her time was coming. It pained me that she didn't get to meet her grandpups. Nikita and I became parents about 2 months ago, we have a son and a daughter. My son, Snap resembled both of our fur colors, black and sandy. He had my eyes, and was a smart and caring pup.

My daughter, Kira was black with a white underbelly. She had sky blue eyes, and was loyal and protective. I was proud of that, she was my first born. She was going to be the future Luna of our pack.

With so many mouths to feed, my pack has claimed half the forest and the valley. We have prime hunting grounds and a lake to drink from. The neighboring packs weren't an issue, but the number of dispersal wolves were starting to be a problem.

Almost all of them my pack has chased away were males trying to court the females in our pack to leave and join them. But all of them refused, they didn't want to leave. Every wolf in our pack has been unquestionably loyal to me, and I respected it.

I heard the sound of paws behind me approaching, and a very familiar voice. "I thought I'd find you here," Nikita spoke as she sat down next to me. "Good morning,"

"Good morning Nikita,"

"It's quite huh? Not used to it?" "Heh, for once I'm not. We haven't had peace like this in so long, it feels...relaxing," "I can agree with that," she paused, by her face I could tell she had something on her mind.

"Nikita, what's bothering you?" I asked her, my tail swished slightly. "It's nothing, it's just-Kira and Snap are such good pups, but I'm afraid for their future," "Why's that?" "Well Star, once they're teenagers you do realize their bond might break," "How could they possibly break the strong bond they have?"

"Star, there isn't any other pups in the pack besides them, and once they reach the proper age...how do you expect them to find their mates if they can't find someone in our pack...they'd have to leave the pack to find their mate,"

She did have a point. No one in our pack had pups besides us. The females didn't want them. Well some did, but didn't want to leave. I felt a bit bad, but it was their choice.

"You shouldn't worry about that until the time comes," I tell her soothingly. "We still have a couple years before that happens. Why don't we focus on the present instead of the further hm?"

Nikita chuckled and looked at me. "I don't know what I'd do without you," I bent my head and nuzzled her. "Likewise," I answered.

"Hey Dad look!" Kira barked at me, pouncing on her brother. They tussle and growled, Kira pinning him down. I smiled and laughed. "Snap, how are you gonna be a proper fighter if you're beaten by your sister?" Kira scrambled off him, he stood and shook his pelt.

"Come on Dad, this is just practice! I promise I'll be the best fighter ever!" He pounced on my back, laying his body on my head. Kira laid down between my paws, her tail wagging. I remember being their age, it felt so long ago…

"Alpha?" I looked up and spotted Trapper approaching. "Pups, go find your mother," I told them. They barked and scampered away. I got to my large paws, shaking out my black coat. Once Trapper was a few feet away he spoke up. "We have an issue at the northern border,"

"What kind of issue? More dispersals?"

"Yes, only this time it's a group of nomads. And the leader wants to challenge you,"

I raised a brow in confusion. A dispersal wolf wanted to challenge me? Are they that dumb? But I knew as Alpha I had to accept the challenge. If I didn't I was giving up my role to the challenger. I sighed and flexed my claws. "Take me there," "Of course Alpha,"

We walked through the forest, finally entering the valley. It was spacious and stretched for miles, but so far I didn't see this group of nomads. "Where are they?" I asked. "Just a little bit farther…" he stopped and pointed with his muzzle. "There,"

I looked where he was pointing. Sure enough, there were about 6 wolves at the edge, a white wolf leading the front. Even from where I was standing I could clearly see I was twice the size of those wolves, I could easily kill them with a bite to the head or neck, or with a single blow with my paw.

I shook my head and made my way over there, and once they spotted me 5 of them scampered back, their eyes wide. The white wolf was unphased, giving me a challenging glare. "So...you're the Alpha," it was more of a statement than a question. "That I am," I answered in my alpha tone.

I stared down at this wolf. Even though he had a brave aggressive expression, I could tell he was afraid by looking at his eyes. They were full of fear. I took a step closer, towering over him.

Bending my head down to his level, I bared my teeth and growled. "I heard you wanted to challenge me, which may be the stupidest thing you could possibly do," I lifted my head and swiftly slammed him down with my paw, crushing him down with my weight.

I addressed them all. "Listen to me carefully, If you are seen in my territory again...I won't be so easy. And I'll make sure my patrols deal with you,"

I lifted my paw and pushed the male back. He got to his paws and scampered back, blood pouring from his head. "Now leave…" I growl. They left with their tails between their legs. I licked my muzzle, turning back into my territory. Things were gonna get worse, that I couldn't deny…

♥️ Nikita's Pov ♥️

I was laying down in the entrance to our hollow, my pups were sleeping next to me. I was gazing up at the moon, the soft summer breeze blew my fur. Star was out patrolling the eastern boundaries with some of our patrols.

He had been such a good father and Alpha, and I was proud of him for that. But I kept thinking about our pups future.

None of our pack members, despite the size wanted pups. And with Kira being the future Luna, she had to find a male to be her mate.

Usually we'd betroth her to one of the pups in the pack, but that wasn't the case. The neighboring packs didn't like us one bit, so they were out of the picture as well.

It seemed she'd either have to leave or pair with a rouge, who would or would not contain alpha blood. And then there was Snap. I didn't know what Snap would do, but I knew he was very protective over his sister. He would probably end up staying in the pack.

A distant howl from the southern border got my attention. I turned my head in the direction of it, turning my ear slightly. It was a dispersal male, calling for any of the females to visit him. I looked down at the pack members present. None of them even flinched, especially the females.

I decided to go deal with the male myself. Getting up quietly so I wouldn't disturb my pups, I casually hopped down the rocks from the hollow, but got stopped by Dapple. "Where are you going Luna?" He asked. "I'm off to deal with that dispersal, I shouldn't take long," I answered solemnly.

He sighed and shook his head. "They just don't quit do they? I swear our pack gets them worse," "Well what do you expect? We have so many wolves," "I know, stay safe Luna." He dipped his head and padded past me.

I continued to the southern border, and the males howl was getting louder. I answered him with my own, but had no intention of leaving with him.

I was the Luna of this pack. I wouldn't betray Star, not one bit. At last he came into view, he was a dark greyish color, with bright yellow eyes. Once he saw me he started to wag his tail.

"Hello there beautiful," he said in a seductive tone. I rolled my eyes and approached him. "I'd advise you to leave brute," I told him. He ignored me and continued. "I was hoping one of you would come and visit. Perhaps leave with me. It seems I'm in luck,"

Now he started to piss me off. I growled, my gaze hard. He flinched and took a step back. "I have no intention of leaving with you. So I'm telling you again...leave my territory," This time I used my Luna tone. But his whole personality changed.

"You know I don't like being talked to like I'm some mutt…" he snarled, taking a step forward. I snarled back, baring my teeth. Ever so slowly, we started circling on another, I eyed his body trying to see his weakest areas.

I didn't want to kill this male, but if I had to then so be it. "I'm giving you one last chance rouge…" I growl darkly. "As the Luna of this pack, you better think about what you're doing…" "I know exactly what I'm doing…" he snarled at me. "You're no match for me, I should just take you by challenge your mate,"

"That won't happen...he'd kill you," "Well then…" he stopped abruptly, but I stayed tense. Suddenly he pounced and pinned me down, crushing me with his weight. I tried to scream but he slammed his paw on my muzzle, muffling my screams.

"Heh, quite the Luna you are...now hold still so I don't make a mess…"
