5 Mo Shan City

As his voice faded, a pool of blood suddenly appeared just below the two which surprise them both. The two then was slowly being swallowed by the blood pool below them.

"S-stop this!!"

"W-what is this, quickly stop this!!"

The two both shouted at Xie Mogui who was watching them with a with a grin on his face. The face of the two was contorted and was pale as a sheet of paper. Even when they tried to resist and use their cultivation to escape, but it was all for naught. They both can't and will never be able to escape as they slowly sink in the pool of blood. Along with their voices of horror, the two disappear.

"REFINE!!"

Xie Mogui shouted and the blood pool in front of him immediately release several pulses as if it was alive. Two blood faces emerged from the pool which was still screaming until it was dissolved. The blood pool then condenses into a small ball into the air that was releasing some pulses.

"DEVOUR!!"

With his mouth wide open, the small ball made of blood entered his mouth and he directly swallowed it.

After a couple of seconds, Xie Mogui could feel a searing pain flowing inside his body. His muscles bulge and blood red lines appear on his skin like a tattoo. The blood-red orb at the center of his chest was glowing bright red while releasing a bloodthirsty aura around him.

The celestial beast beside him started to shiver in fright. Its tail was tucked in between its legs and all the hairs on its body was standing up straight like needles.

After some time Xie Mogui returned to his previous state and the blood red lines in his body slowly disappear. The blood-red orb at the center of his chest also stopped glowing and the bloodthirsty aura around his disappeared.

'Middle stage of Qi refining stage huh. This is much faster than I expected, it seems my plan will be done in just a short amount of time' Xie Mogui said to himself. After devouring the two and turning their blood essence into his own, he makes another breakthrough in his cultivation. With his power increasing in this speed, he knew that his climb towards the peak would be an easy one.

"Now its time to get out of this forest" he then went towards the beast and jump and sit behind it. The beast releases a soft growl before walking in a certain direction.

Mo Shan City

In the city gate of the Mo Shan city, several people and carriages were lined up trying to enter the city. Several guards were standing at the top of the city walls looking at the vast open field around them.

"Two pieces of silver to enter" a guard at the gate said to a handsome young man who was wearing a blood red robe while there was a small beast sleeping around his neck. The man was Xie Mogui, after several minutes of riding the celestial beast the two of them finally saw the city. He then ordered the beast to transform itself towards what it is right now. As a celestial beast, the Celestial Scaled Lion can freely transform its body into small sizes. They can also transform into a human form upon reaching a certain level in cultivation.

Xie Mogui took out two pieces of silver coin and hand it towards the guard. When the guard receives the silver coin, he moves his body to the side and let him in.

The inside of the city is just like he had expected. Cultivators were scattered everywhere while mortals were watching them with respect and admiration in their eyes.

"Let's go and watch the selection in the plaza" a man passing by said to the man beside him.

"I think that this year selection will be great" the man replied, "Did you hear that the daughter of the city lord is also joining in this year's selection. I believe she will be chosen because of her natural talent in cultivation"

"I also heard the news of her joining this year's selection but did you know that the genius young master of the Meng clan is also joining this time. There was even a rumor going around the city that when the young master from the Meng clan defeats the daughter of the city lord, the Meng clan will propose a marriage alliance with the city lord" replied by the other man.

"Haiss...Only the young master of the Meng family have the rights to be the fiancee of the daughter of the city lord. She was beautiful while the young master was handsome, and both of them were extremely talented. They were definitely a match made by heavens" says the other man.

'A selection huh' Xie Mogui became interested in what he heard. He then turns and follows behind the two men. He wanted to witness what this selection is and was curious about their praises towards the daughter of the city lord and the young master of the Meng family.

Following behind the two men, he finally reaches the plaza where the selection is taking place. Several young men and women were lined up in front of a long table. Several people were sitting beside the table who were wearing the same robes. Above the table was a huge banner with 'Azure Dragon Sect' delicately written on it.

'So a sect was recruiting some disciples today, this will be interesting' Xie Mogui said to himself and then he also lined up to join the selection for fun. Although he knew that joining a sect was useless as they have nothing to teach him, he still decided to join so that he can entertain himself even a little bit.

"Look that handsome young man was the genius young master of the Meng family, Meng Shui. His opponent is really unlucky to be facing him" a young lady several feet away from him said to the lady beside her while pointing at the man on the stage.

"He really is handsome, the daughter of the city lord is really lucky to have him pursuing her," the lady beside her said while there were envy and jealousy in both her eyes and voice.

Xie Mogui looks towards where the woman was pointing and saw a handsome young man standing at the stage who has an arrogant smile on his face.

'Only at the peak stage of Qi gathering, what genius the one called Meng who I killed earlier was clearly more powerful than this guy. They even had the same age base on their bone structures' he spat to himself while staring at the so-called genius in the stage. He could clearly see that the cultivation of this man called Meng Shui was weak. The foundation and his Qi were not that strong a clear sign that he only reach this stage with the help of external Qi forcefully helping him breakthrough and by consuming several medicines.
