Chapter 5: Battles

----Beornfred POV----

As I exited the carriage I left behind my love and the little princess. My wife knew full well what was going to happen, so I trusted her to keep Lilith's ears shut for the moment.

5 Imperial soldiers stood in front of me, serving as border guards for the 'Empire of Grimveil'.

"State your name and your purpose in our empire, traveler!"

He came close to me while asking this, not even realizing that it was no human standing before him.

*How are they stationing these stupid idiots on such an important border? Well...works for me.*

As I reached for his throat with unnatural speed, his eyes showed that he understood the grave mistake he just made, but it was already to late. His comrades couldn't help him anymore as I closed my hand around his neck. After this I just threw his dying body to the side. As it hit the carriage I would've loved to slap myself.

*She's going to be so angry at me, well to late now, so why bother?*

The other soldiers had shouted something while all this happened, but I just wanted to get over with it, so I rushed at them while channeling Mana into my two fists. As I rushed forward, they readied their weapons and brazed for impact, but it was over before it started. I jumped behind them with all the speed I could offer and punched the two on my left with each one of my fists.

*These humans here don't even posses Mana?*

Both my fists had gone straight through their torsos, killing them in an instant. While all this happened the other two decided to run.

*You won't escape me!*

But their hopes where in vain as I again channeled Mana into my fists, only to throw this concentrated force into their backs. They perished without time to even realize that they where Dead.

Something felt extremely off about all of this so I rushed to the other carriage that accompanied us, opening the door only to discover that one of my guards was looking at the now dead Body of the female warg mother.

*She is dead...*

Everything was over. They've really done it. My guard looked like he was spaced out so I gave him an order.

"Take care of the little puppy, I will be right back. After this, leave the carriage behind and just take the horse. Ride as fast as you can to Lord Amber and tell him what happened, do you understand?"

"Yes my lord!"

He saluted me, but I just ignored it, there where more important matters

*I need to compose myself, if the little princess sees me like that she will definitely start to cry.*

But in all my worry I completely forgot the blood that had sprayed all over my body. As I opened the door to our carriage I looked into the, now open, eyes of little Lilith. It felt like she was staring directly into my Soul.

*Her eyes...they're so beautiful...*

"Close the damn door before Lilith sees this you idiot!"

My love shouted at me and I knew what I did wrong.

*How can I be such a nutcase sometimes?*

I quickly shut the door, went to the back of our carriage, where our Luggage was, and changed my clothes while wiping the bloodstains off my body with some water. Then I went to get the small puppy.

*Well now you will travel with us. Maybe Lilith even smiles at me when she sees her destined companion.*

As the soldier rode away at break neck speed, I got back to our carriage. I couldn't help but be excited to show my little princess her companion. But all the while I thought about the future and if we would survive all of it.

Sadly she was already sleeping, so I sat down awkwardly in the Carriage, listening to my loves angry complaints.

"Do you want to scare her for life? Are you that stupid? Start using your head!..."

After some time I decided to just stop listening and let it happen. I knew that I shouldn't have thrown the guard against the carriage, but how should I have known that our little princess would manage to open her eyes so soon?

*It's good that she is just a newborn, so she won't remember this right?*

How could he have known that Lilith wasn't an ordinary newborn.

In the middle of her rambling I finally told her that the warg mother was dead. She stopped talking and we just sat there until Lilith opened her eyes again.

After this, the journey continued without another incident and they even arrived faster than expected. It took them only three Month's instead of the predicted four. But little Lilith grew wary of her father, but even with this shocking moment, his arms where still the most comfortable, so after two days of ignoring him she decided it was not worth it, because, for all she knew, he was her loving father that would never do the things her old 'Father' did to her.

As they finally arrived in the hidden village of the Suebi clan and stepped out of the carriage Lilith lay in the arms of her father, snuggling up to him and sleeping peacefully.

"We greet our clan Leader Beornfred Garriksson Suebi! We greet you Hertha Henriksdaughter Suebi wife of our great leader!"

All the other clan's members shouted in unison, while bowing to Beornfred.

"Listen my Family! I introduce to you my newborn daughter. Let's all welcome Lilith to our great clan!"

"LONG MAY SHE LIVE"

"Father, Mother!"

There he was, my firstborn son. I didn't see him for over a year, so I was beyond happy to see him again. With his 6 years he was to young to travel with us to the Queen's court, so he stayed with my brother in the village. He had grown over this past year and was now 1.40 meters in height.

*Maybe he will grow as large as me, but even if he doesn't, he will become a strong leader one day.*

He had the sky blue eyes of his mother, but as a male 'Major Ice Demon', he only had one horn directly at his forehead. His hair was pretty long and it waved in the wind as he rushed to us.

*I still sometimes wonder where he has his hair from, me and my love have straight Hair but his is just so wavy...well doesn't matter if it suits him.*

I couldn't help but laugh to myself.

After hugging my son, I told my brother and the other leaders of the side families to gather in the clan's hall, because there were grave news that I didn't want to tell the whole clan just yet.

"The Queen is dead!"

Absolute silence filled the room. No one dared to speak a word because they all understood what that meant.

"Brother...why weren't you at her side?"

It sounded like an allegation, but I knew he didn't mean it in ill will.

"I carried out her orders, for what that order was, I am not allowed to tell you. Just know that I would've never abandoned her and I still won't do. If Hel didn't die on our ride here, I wouldn't have even known."

The female warg Hel was the Soulbound Companion of our beloved Queen, but my order was to take her with me, and now I was sure why my queen gave that order.

*She knew she would die. She warned me about the day of Lilith's birth but never told me what would happen...how can she trust me with such an important task, but doesn't tell me that she will die?*

As the meeting continued we decided to increase our patrols around and through the forest of Yggdrasil. We where now at war, and it will never stop again. The church of Claudius made their move and we will strike back when the time is right.

*For I am the first general of Queen Kala and even after her Death, I will serve her for eternity.*

So we are finally at the end of Lilith's journey...

In the next chapter there will be a rather large timeskip, but she will think about her past years in the village so stay tuned!
