3 Chapter 3: Come Back To Life

Nathalia's face turned pale, her eyes wide open, 'Grandpa? True, he was a well-known real estate tycoon, but he passed away years ago, and her mother inherited all the money. When she got married, and the two companies merged, it all went to the Carters'. She recalled.

Her mother died young and never told her about the money from her grandpa. Had such fortune turned into her misfortune and the death of her now?

Things became more and more blurry. She could not think. She could not see. In despair, she sought the end, an escape from this evil and filthy world, from the family of lies and betrayals.

Consciousness slowly abandoned her. So freezing cold, her body felt.

Was she dying? Was she to see her mother in the other world?

It could be a good thing to leave, be away from these evil souls, to somewhere with no pain but peace.

She felt her body being picked up and cuddled, then came the voice from her sister by her ear 'By the way, would you like to know how your mother actually died? Your most beloved father poisoned her…'

It struck her again like lightning. The sky tumbled down on her, and her heart burned with pain. It was all too late.

She was thrown away like litter. Her body flew like a feather across the night into the deep cold sea, swallowed, forgotten.

An implacable smile adorned her face. Frozen.

What is a family?

What is love?

Lies!

If she was to live again, she would not love anymore, but revenge, on every single one of them.

Kill!

Demolish!

Revenge!

The sun shone through the window and struck her with warmth.

Nathalia slowly opened her eyes, looked around. Where am I? Is this hell?

Yet, everything looked so familiar to her. The ivory furniture, photos of herself on the walls…wait, it was her own room! She was in her room!

She sat up awake, shocked.

What had happened? Was it just a dream?

She wiped the cold sweat off her forehead. What a terrible dream to have!

Still bewildered, she picked up her phone and caught sight of the date on the screen: 1st May 2011. Astounded and more puzzled, she could not believe what she saw. She rubbed her eyes a few times and checked again and again. The date remained the same.

She sat on the bed for a few hours until the fact that she was reborn slowly sank in. She had somehow time-traveled back to life two years ago. She had been given a chance back to life.

Recollecting what happened before her death, furious rage flooded in her head. She would make sure they got what they deserved in this life. Revenge. Torture. Take everything they had. Make them suffer, ten times worse than what they did to her.

There was a knock at the door, and before she could answer, the door was pushed open. An extraordinarily good looking face showed up. It was from Evette.

Evette hurried forward and grabbed Nathalia's arm, a sweet smile on her face. She asked cheerily, "Sis, could you please lend me some of your jewelry for tonight's party? I'm going to the party with mum."

Despite the fact that she desired to strangle her right there and then, Nathalia composed herself and held back the immense anger inside her. She had a quick inspection of Evette's face. It looked younger, yet still flirtatious and pretentious. A sense of resentment was brewing in her. Gently she took Evette's hands away and asked indifferently, "Jewellery?"

She then remembered that her mother left a lot of expensive jewelry for her when she died, and Evette had been tricking her and taking them away from her. She was too naïve to care and would just let her have them. Thinking back, she felt regret and rage roaring.

Not again in this life. All that she had taken from me shall be returned. And more, she would have to pay back. Nathalia thought.

Evette had not noticed the changes in Nathalia as she kept on begging, "Please, my dear sis. You've always loved me the most. Surely you would like me to look nice at the party. Right?"

"An idiot she is. As long as I pretend to be close to her as a sister, she always gives me everything I ask for." Evette thought. Of course, the fact was she had never seen her as a sister. For her, there was only one sibling, and that was her younger brother.

"Sure," Nathalia answered. Various ideas and plans flowed in her head, and within a few seconds, she knew what to do. "Let's go." She said as she led Evette out of the room.

Evette smiled broadly, thinking what an easy trick, and spoke her usual honey-coated words of insincerity, "Thank you, sis. You are the best. You are so good to me."

Nathalia knew it all. Smile your smiles now for soon; you won't be smiling. She thought to herself.

The driver was already waiting in the yard. Seeing the two ladies coming, he hurriedly got out of the car and opened the door for them. "To the National Bank of Miami," Evette told the driver with a grim.

Nathalia had kept all her jewelry in the safe at the bank, and she was the only one who had the key, her fingerprint. The driver glanced at the two girls in the rear-view mirror, the younger one beaming with joy while the older one emotionless. He sighed silently, feeling sorry for Nathalia, and started the engine.

When they got to the city center, Nathalia suddenly asked the driver to stop. She got out of the car and walked straight to BlueStone Gold & Diamond Jewellery, the best jewelry shop in Miami. They had the trendiest styles. Every piece was designed by top designers from around the world, exquisite and extremely expensive. Only those with tremendous fortune could afford it.

The salesgirls observed their attire and knew they were potential customers. They had enough experience to tell if one could afford in a few seconds' time. They quickly swarmed towards the girls with great zeal.

Nathalia looked down and responded calmly to such hospitality, "Please get us the best jewelry in your shop."

Her mannerism was of elegance and grace. One could easily tell that she was from a noble and wealthy family.

On hearing that, all faces glowed with joy. The shop manager hurried forward and brought them the finest items.

Nathalia picked up a few glittering ones and smiled at Evette, "Here, sis, pick whichever you like. We shall get you some new ones."

Nathalia knew that her step-mum was a VIP customer at the shop, and she could put it on her tap.

Evette followed behind Nathalia passively, puzzled, and wondering what was going on.
