2 Chapter 2: Murdered At Her Wedding Day

Evette laughed with content, "Are you trying to seek help from dad? You are indeed the most brainless little rich girl. You only know to turn to dad for help—poor little girl. The truth is dad knows everything. And he has planned the whole thing. Your fancy wedding is merely a farewell present."

Farewell? Nathalia shook her head, fiercely. Impossible. It can't be true. She's lying. She heard herself saying in her head. He's her father! How could he? Why would he?

Resentment and jealousy overflowing on her extraordinarily beautiful face, Evette let it all out "My mum has just been pretending. Did you actually think that she loves you? It's a trap. Don't you understand? You fucking idiot."

How could she fail to tell fake from real? It's all her own fault.

The word 'trap' hit and crushed her like a giant rock. The whole world seemed to be spinning. Impossible. She thought.

However busy dad was, he would celebrate her birthday with her, every year. Every time he was away on a business trip, he would buy presents for her. Didn't he always say, "Nathalia is my sweetest girl? The best in the world." It made her feel so loved. She recalled.

He had put so much effort into this wedding. He arranged everything, the wedding dress, jewelry, the venue… everything. He promised her an unforgettable wedding.

Her father loved her so much. How could this be a lie?

Every time when she was sick, her mum, or step-mum, was there to look after her, and once, she even exhausted herself from taking care of her. How could that be fake?

Then it occurred to her that her father had been acting a bit strange recently, showing her much more love and care than usual like he was going to lose her. But could it be because he was about to marry her away?

At the same time, since the father had arranged every single thing for the wedding, how could this happen if he had not allowed it or even planned it?

No one would have been able to hear her even if she screamed for help. Her screams would simply have been lost in the cheers and laughter of the crowd.

Hahaha. She started laughing, in despair, tears in her eyes. So, this is the truth! She thought.

But why?!

Blood gushed up through her throat—the taste of betrayal. Anger and hatred roared in her chest, and pain, extreme pain, but she refused to shed a tear.

It would only please them more, seeing her cry. She would not give in. Never.

"Why would dad ever do this to me? I don't believe you. This can't be true." Though saying so, in fact, she believed it more than not. However, she had to know the real truth. She had to be one hundred percent sure.

The corner of her lips slightly tilted up on Evette's face. She seemed to be pleased. "Dad made a bad investment and lost billions instead of millions. We are almost going bankrupt. But there's nothing to worry about because you, you, have money. You are the gold mine. Dad doesn't care about you. What he cares about is your money. The marriage between your parents was merely the ally of two powers…" Evette kept talking, her voice seemed to come from a distance, and it sounded so cold. Though Nathalia heard what she was saying, she could not comprehend.

What was she saying? She never had much money.

Pain and torture stopped her from thinking and understanding. Her eyes fell on the face of the man she'd adored so much, and she had to ask her question, "Ben, have you ever loved me?"

Ben's face wore a slight frown. Though she could vaguely see his face, she heard clearly what he said, cold and cruel.

"No."

Pleased and satisfied, Evette smiled, and lifted her chin up, brimming with a victorious pride.

"You are too naïve. Why would Ben ever love someone like you, weak and useless? It's me that he loves. He's just been using you."

The words struck Nathalia like lightning, her eyes wide open. She couldn't comprehend what she heard. She was confused and lost.

No. It's impossible. This must be a dream. She thought.

Tears streamed down her face, and everything seemed blurry. "No. You are lying. Ben loves me. He has just married me."

Evette stood next to Ben, stroked his chest flirtatiously, and asked, "Ben, tell us. Who do you love?"

Ben looked at Evette with immense affection, held up her fine hands to drop a kiss on. "Of course, it's you that I love. You are my darling, my favorite of all, my queen."

It was like a knife stabbing into her heart. "Why did you marry me then?" Nathalia asked.

Ben's once gentle and loving face turned cold and contemptuous. "Who do you think you are? Do you think I would actually love an idiot like you? In fact, you disgust me."

Blood gushed out from her mouth; words of evil stabbed her heart and tore it to pieces; a chill went down her spine and through every single bone. Tears of despair covered her cheeks as she slowly dropped down to the ground, fainting away.

Evette took out a few pieces of paper from her bag, held it in front of Nathalia and gave her a triumphant smile "I shall thank you, for transferring all your money to my brother and me. Hahaha. It's tens of billions!"

Evette bent down towards her and waved the documents at her proudly "Look. This is the paper you have signed to agree to transfer all your assets to us. You are the most stupid person in the world. You signed it without even taking a glimpse. Thank you, my idiot sister."

Fury swelled up, her creamy face now tainted with blood oozing from her eyes, Nathalia read the content on the documents, and her heart froze in pain and shock. She trembled and shivered. It felt like her body's being whipped by thorny lashes. The desire to revenge and kill them overwhelmed her. She wanted them dead.

Two whole years, they had been in love, or she thought they were. It was nothing but a joke, a trap from the very beginning.

Liars!

What did they mean by tens of billions? She only got a few thousand as her monthly pocket money and nothing more. How could they do this to her for just a small sum of money? They lied. Pretended. Gained her trust. Then she poisoned her.

The cruelest of cruel.

Animals.

Evette seemed to be holding it up for too long, and she couldn't help letting it all out "My dear sister, shall I explain to you the truth? Your grandpa deposited a fortune in the bank before he died, and you will be allowed to use it when you are 20 years old. Tut. Tut. However, it's all ours now. Hahaha… "

Hysterically she laughed. Her eyes turned red with excitement and shone like those of a wolf's on a full moon night. "My sweetest sister, you deserve to die."
