She looses her mother

She walked right to where she was lying and called out her name but no response. After shaking her desperately she called it her father.

"Father come wake mommy up, I have been calling her for long yet she did not answer, " said Samantha.

"Let her rest what is the rush for? "Retorted her father.

"Father I was just concerned, " Samantha continiued.

She had to obey her father and not bother her anymore. With the little water remaining in the hut she made some porridge. It was now nearing dusk and her mother was asleep.

She once again walked to her mother and called out but still she did not make any movement. She now felt uneasy about the whole thing. Soon her father arrived from his daily routine to look for food to eat but at this rate no one could feed their families and provide labor.

"Sigh finally you are back father mum is not up yet"reported Samantha

"What do you mean by that? Not up yet Something is wrong Samantha."

He walked into the hut and felt her pulse. It was so weak that at first he did not feel it.

"This can't be! Nelly please you can't leave us at this moment my darling. "Francis exclaimed in fear in between tears.

"Samantha we have to get to the hospital before its too late. " .Immediately Samantha took the old blanket she uses and wrapped her mother. The carrier her through the narrow path towards the village dispensary. Soon the had arrived.

"Nurse please help my mother I can't loose her please nurse... " Samantha continued to wail hoping for the best.

They accompanied her as the nurse conducted severe tests.

"Your mother has very severe ulcers most probably because of stress and starvation", explained nurse Liz.

Even though Samantha had dropped out at class five she could still figure out that her condition was not good.

That night at exactly half past one in the morning Samantha lost her dear mum.

What is her life going to be like without her? Will Francis overcome the loneliness of loosing her wife at this critical moment?
