I got out of the vehicle and was greeted by a long street lined with multiple shops and various stalls. There were all kinds of magicians and swordsmen present here, but most of them seemed to be at the junior level, although I sensed a few higher-level practitioners among them.
Many of the people here appeared to be independent hunters, essentially individuals who are paid to do work for others, akin to adventurers. While there are guilds that deal with this kind of work, there are also guilds that specialize in information gathering, subjugation, and other tasks.
Curiously, I ventured along the road, taking in the multitude of different sights. Some shops were selling artifacts, others were offering magical books, and there were even gambling houses scattered about. Amidst the bustling street, there was also talk about the upcoming auction
"May is the auction today special" I asked May
"young master this Auction house is managed by one the largest guild in the kingdom Sorcerers Society , it is known for its authentic artifacts dealing also it boasts a variety of treasures, Every year they host an auction that is attended by many nobles and mages" May said
"Than does the auction happens here?" I asked, obviously such a large auction would not just happen in this place alone
"I am not sure master, I haven't been to such auction before" May apologized as she did not know
"No worries we will find out eventually" I saidÂ
"Lets go the book house I want to buy some books" I said, as we made our way to a quite a big shop, there was still time before the auction
Interestingly very few people were present here as compared to the rest of the Market
I went to the main counter on which a fair lady in mages robe and hat was sitting and reading the book, she looked quite young, but I knew she was older, judging from her mana I guess she was a high level mage, It would seem she is the manager here.
"Excuse me I would like to see books about alchemy" I inquired, recently I decided to research more about some auxiliary professions like Alchemist, formation masters, Refiners, etc.Â
"5th shelf from the right at the west wing" she said without looking up from the book
I went to the designated are that the lady mentioned,
"young master why are you looking for alchemy" May asked being confused
"Just to get some extra knowledge, also I heard that alchemist are very rare and respected profession, so I decided to learn more about it" I said as I was walking through the racks of books placed here
After that poisoning incident I decided to look into being an alchemist, if I could study the intricacies of alchemy it would become much easier, plus I want to make some mana recovery or stamina restoring potions
The library in our household does not have much information regarding Alchemy, I was thinking of searching after going to the Academy, but if I could find here that would be much better
'Its quite the collection of books here' I mused
When I went there, I saw only a handful of books and it was also covered in dust as if they weren't touched in years, it was much less compared to the rest of the sections of books here
"Its less than I thought" I muttered, as I dusted one of the book
"that normal young master I am surprised even we could find these books here, Alchemist are very strict regarding there knowledge they only share it with there disciples or families" May said as she looked at the books
"Well better than nothing, take all of them" I said
There were a total of 7 books, most of the books were about the alchemy history, a few related to basics of alchemy and one book here was about TransmutationÂ
May took the books and we went towards the reception, I also got some other books related to World history, some Legendary chronicles, also about the Empire, just to increase my common knowledge
I placed them at the counter, which startled the lady
"I would like to purchase these books" I said to the lady
She looked surprised that someone would buy this much books, when she saw the alchemy related books she had a weird look on her face
"Why are you buying alchemy books, you are young and shouldn't distract yourself" she said as she looked at me, clearly she thought I was one of those people who were trying there luck at becoming famous
I merely just smiled at her" I know Miss I would just like to know some basics" I said
"Suit yourself" she shrugged as she cleaned the books, at least she has some professionalismÂ
"A total of 57 G " she said, the alchemy related books were 50 G and the rest were around 7 G
'Geez... 57 G no wonder the common people couldn't acquire knowledge, a regular common household could only earn an average of 10 G' I thought
I wanted to use my card, but May had already given her a bag full of coins
"Here 57 coins you can count them" May said as she gave her the amount
"Its fine I trust you" she said as she put the coins in her waist pocket, clearly a storage device
'This lady is not simple' I thought not everyone can afford a storage device
"A word of advice, Although this place looks peaceful, its not there are a lot wolves looking for big fat sheep " she warned usÂ
'Thieves huh....' I mused- but I was not that worried I can handle the trash around here and I had May with meÂ
"Thank you we will be careful" I thanked her, as we made our way out, I put the books in my space storage
"May why did you not let me pay?" I asked
"Young master if you showed your card it would reveal your identity and would unnecessary attention, also this place seems shady it would be unsafe to reveal your identity here" May said clearly she has thought of everything
"Yeah that would be terrible" I shuddered at the thought, many knight would come for my escort and protection
Then wee went to a Famous jewelry store there were many ladies jewelry and other accessories as well, I wanted to buy for my parents and MayÂ
"welcome to our store, how could I help you" a maid came and greeted us, clearly this store was high end
"Yes could you show me some ladies accessories I would like to buy some for my mother" I asked
"Sure please come this way" she lead me to a private room where she displayed a variety of different accessories there were ring, necklaces, ear ring, hair pins, etc.Â
"May what do you think" I asked May who was also looking around, it would seem no lady can stay away from the allure of shopping
"Ah ... young master..... yes Madam would certainly like whatever you choose" She said in attempt to hide her clumsiness
"Okay Okay I will choose myself" I said helplesslyÂ
Well an Earring for mother would be best, for father I could buy a pen as he always seem to writing, hair pin for May would look good, and I should probably buy gifts for Elie and Eliza as well I thought
"show me some special ones, preferably some semi artefacts" I said
"but young master..." the servant hesitated it would seem she thought I could not afford themÂ
I just showed them my card with Emblem of my family
"Y-yes y-young n-n-noble please wait" she stuttered, as she recognized the card and went away in panic
A few minutes a beautiful lady came, she had the air of authority clearly she seemed to be the superior here, she came and gave me respectful bow
"I am terribly sorry young noble Winchester, please forgive us for showing such hospitality" She said respectfully, fear was also evident in her voice
"No worries, I was going incognito anyways" I said as I waved my handÂ
"Thankyou for your magnanimity, my name is Emily Jade the manager of this store, I will bring the item you requested" she saidÂ
She clapped her hands as many servant brought a variety of beautiful and mesmerizing artefacts
After looking through multiple options I choose what I thought would be best for them, also these accessories were semi artefacts meaning they have some special propertiesÂ
"Yes please pack them separately as gifts" I said as I orderedÂ
"Yes young noble" Emily replied
A few minutes latter five exquisite boxes were given to me, they were really beautifully decorated
"Young master It would be a total of 800 G, as apology for our rudeness 25% discount will be given so a total of 600 G" she said as she handed me the boxes
"Okay good, here " I gave her my card, not going to refuse the discount
I took the Boxes in my space pocket and waited for them to process it, a few minutes I latter she brought me the card, I bade them farewell and left the store
"Young master its almost time for the auction" May reminded me
"Yes lets go" I said as I remembered clearly getting side trackedÂ
