4 Chapter 4

It has been a few hours since Rey was taken by the griffin. Rey has watched the towns appear and dissapear from his view many times. He's gone over a mountain range and seen many different battles raging below. After many hours of flying, the griffins took a rest. The griffin set Rey down on the cold ground and flapped its wings. The griffin inspected Rey before letting out a screech and going in for an attack.

Lifeless, blood pooling under its body. The griffins head had been dismembered and its Lifeless body lay still. Rey stared at the body as the blood pooled beneath his feet. "What just happened?!" Rey screamed and fell backwards into the blood. He held his hands up, feeling a warm liquid drip from them. He screamed once more when he realized that it was the blood of the beast.

A man came from behind the beast and watched Rey, waiting for him to calm down. "Hey kid, you okay?" The man asked. This drew Reys attention and he looked up at the man. Blood dripped from his sword and his armor. He had a scruffy beard and auburn hair. "Are you just going to stay seated in the blood or what?" He asked as he was holding out his hand to help Rey up. Rey took his hand and got up, but when he got up, he punched the man below the belt. He thought that the man might try to kill him as well so he punched. Instead of the man being hurt, it was Rey. It was almost as if he had punched steel.

"I'm a cultivator and an adventurer, so it's in your best interest to not hit me. My body is many times stronger than a normal mans." He chuckled quietly to himself. "Now it's not everyday you run into a griffin. Tell me, how is it you found yourself with this savage beast?" Rey looked at him for a moment before telling him the story. Rey told him how his mom hadn't gotten home yet after dark so he went to look for her, but when he did he ran into the griffins and they took him. The man nodded, "Well consider yourself lucky, griffin don't usually take their prey alive!"

The man cut a few limbs off of the griffins body before setting it aflame with a fire skill. "You're a long way from home so we'll camp here for tonight. Your parents are probably worried sick about you so I'll take you back in the morning. Where is it you live?" The man asked to which Rey replied, "I...don't know...I don't know the name of my hometown." The man sighed disappointedly. "I see, well you are young. It makes sense that you wouldn't know as you've probably never left the town. You never had a reason to learn it's name. Do you at least know what direction it's in?" Rey looked down and shook his head to which the man let out another sigh.

The man handed Rey the leg of the griffin that he had holding over the fire. "It should be cooked now, it's not the best but it'll keep you satiated for the time being." Rey reluctantly took the leg and thanked him. The leg was huge, almost the size of Rey himself. He set the leg down so that it was as if it was standing. Luckily, the fire burned the hair off of the leg and it was just the skin and most now. Rey took a bite of the leg and was barely able to tear any meat off. The skin was thick and the meat was tough.

Rey sat down close to the fire to stay warm, laying the leg across his lap. The man was easily tearing through his griffin leg. The man didn't say a word as he ate. Rey tried his best to continue to eat but after a few more bites, his jaw was too tired to continue. "Excuse me sir, who are you and why are you here?" Rey asked the man. "I am Amiel Tugoe, as I said before I am a cultivator and an adventurer. As for the reason I am here, I was informers that there was a dangerous beast living in the area. I searched to no avail, and that's when I came across you and the griffin. It was pure luck that I was here to save you."

The man stood up and used his fire skill on the dwindling fire. "You get some rest, I'll make sure nothing comes by while you sleep. We'll start moving in the morning." Rey nodded and used the rest of his unfinished leg as a pillow. He laid next to the fire and drifted off to sleep. He slept rather quietly seeing as he was exhausted from today's events.

Rey sat up and rubbed his eyes. The griffin that was used for the fire was nothing but ashes now. The man who started the fire was nowhere in sight. Rey frowned, the little hope he had of getting home was now gone. Rey stood up and scanned the area. It was barren, with nothing in site. He would have to pick a direction and start walking in hopes that it was the right way. With the first few steps, Reys new journey to find his home had begun.

Rey had been walking for around an hour with nothing in site. He kept thinking of the dead griffin and the man. Maybe he should've stayed and waited for him. Now that he was on his own with nobody to help him, he kight as well be dead. Just then, Rey stopped dead in his tracks as the dull edge of a sword was on his chest. "Don't move!" The person weilding the sword whispered. "Look ahead, look past what is normal. Don't pay any attention to the world around you and focus solely on what's directly in front of you."

Rey was scared but did as the man said. Maybe if he listened, the man wouldn't kill him. Rey focused on the area in fron of him and saw nothing. It was the same things he's seen for the past hour, nothing. "I don't see anything..." Rey said. "Take this and throw it!" The man handed Rey a small rock. Rey did as he was told and threw the rock. As the rock hit the ground a giant worm shot up where the rock landed. The sudden appearance of the monster startled Rey and he fell backwards. The man took his sword and dashed forward towards the worm, slicing it cleanly in two. When he landed he jumped immediately as another worm jumped at him. He held his sword true and the worm sliced in two. Then the man threw his sword at Rey, just before it would hit Rey, a third worm appear and was impaled by the sword, killing it instantly. "Nothing is ever as it seems out here, it's a dangerous place for those who can't defend themselves. I think it's time you learn to fight!"
