2 Chapter 2

Rey placed his hand on the door handle and swung it open. He found himself in a bigger empty room, the only visible thing was the light shining through the window. Rey made his way through the room and to the door that would lead outside. Placing his hand on the handle, he took a deep breath and opened the door.

At first the light was nearly blinding as Rey had to use his hand to block the sun from hitting his eyes. Over the next few seconds, Rey's eyes would adjust to the new amount of light hitting him and he could move his hand to his side. Rey could hear chatter and footsteps around nearby. The place in his direct vicinity was relatively empty excluding a few empty wicker baskets.

Rey walked toward an opening in the tall wall where all the chatter seemed to originate. Turning the corner, Rey saw dozens of people walling around and talking amongst each other. The area seemed to be a town square of some sort. It was very open with a few vendors lining the perimeter. There was a tall clocktower in the very center of the square that read 4:27 pm.

"Hey the young prince is awake!" One of the townsfolk yelled from a nearby vendor. Everyone turned towards him and all cheered.

A boy walked up to Rey and hugged him, "I'm glad your okay!"

Rey accepted the hug but didn't return it. When the boy finally pulled away Rey couldn't help but ask, "Umm...who are you?" The boy seemed shocked at the Rey's words. "What do you mean? It's me Ryan! You're older brother!"

Rey couldn't help but smile as he'd never had a brother, even in his past life. "Oh I'm sorry Ryan, mama said I had hit my head pretty hard and I'm having trouble remembering things." Rey couldn't help but look down in embarrassment, his cheeks turning red.

"Yeah, you did. Your mom was pretty worried about you. Once she heard what happened she rushed to your side and took you straight to the family doctor." Ryan smiled, putting his hand on Rey's shoulder. "If you have any questions, feel free to ask!"

Rey nodded, "What's our father like?" Ryan laughed whole heartedly, wiping a tear from his eye. "You really did forget things, I thought you were joking with me." After Ryan finally calmed down he answered Reys question. "Our father is the head of our city. He's the strongest, second only to grandpa as well. He's currently in the 3rd stage of the Sky Realm and is on the verge of breaking into the Heaven Realm." Rey nodded once more. "What are the realms?" To which Ryan answered, "They are our classification of strength. From weakest to strongest they are as follows: Earth Realm, Beast Realm, Human Realm, Sky Realm, Heaven Realm, Dragon Realm, and lastly the God Realm."

Reys eyes lit up with excitement. His father was almost in the Heaven Realm. That meant he was really strong, and when people are strong they're usually rich! Along with that, his father being the head of the city means that Rey himself must have a place of power as well.

Rey jumped up and started running into the crowd of people. He would greet them and listen to them tell stories about his father's accomplishments. Some would even give him free produce. Rey was seemingly loved by the people around him, he didn't care wether it was due to his father or not, he was happy. All good things come to an end though.

The Sun was beginning to set on the horizon. Shadows covered the square and everyone had started to disperse. Rey had been socializing for a few hours and it was now time to head back home. He hadn't seen his brother in a while and assumed that he must've gone home earlier. Rey made his way back to the alley where he originally came out of. Turning the corner he went back into his home.

Reys mother was waiting for him to return. She was in the same clothes as before as she welcomed him home. She greeted him with a hug and a kiss on the forehead. "Let's get you to bed, it's getting late and the monsters come and get the little boys who are up after dark so you better go to sleep!" She said while trying to hold back a smile. Rey didn't know if she was lying or not since he was unfamiliar with this world and she was.

"But mama..." Rey looked around his home, "Where's big brother Ryan? Shouldn't he be here as well?" Rey asked. Reys mother frowned, "Your brother doesn't live here with us. He lives in the main house with your father. I want you to stay away from him and anyone else from our family." Rey nodded but was a little sad. His big brother was so nice, why would he have to stay away from him?

Reys mother led him to his room and tucked him into bed. She kissed him on the forehead again and brushed his long hair away from his face. "Sweet Dreams my love!" She walked away out of the room. Rey watched her as she left and noticed that she had a bit of a limp, which he found strange since she didn't before. She waved at Rey with a smile as she closed the door behind her, leaving Rey to himself in his empty room. He soon found his eyelids getting heavier as he drifted off to sleep.

It was morning and Rey was up and about. His mother wasn't home at the moment so Rey thought he would go exploring the town. He waited to leave his home until he heard commotion coming from the square again. This meant that the townsfolk were working again and he could hear more stories and experience the town in its full beauty.

Rey made his way through the town square and to a street that was busy. The street had vendors as well but on a much larger scale than in the town square. What drew Reys attention the most was a shop named 'CULTIVATION NECESSITIES'. Rey looked in the window that displayed some of the more expensive items in the shop. There were boxes of pills and thick books. "Wow" Rey said aloud at the huge collection.

The store owner seemed to notice Rey looked through the window as he opened the door, "See anything that catches your eye?" He was an older man with a beard as long as a horses tail. "Oh umm no sir, I don't have any money for any of this. I just thought that they looked cool." Rey responded. He wasn't lying, he had no intention of getting anything here. Seeing as his father was a cultivator, he must have a even larger collection of books from which Rey could choose from.

"Nonsense" the man said. "Don't you worry about the cost, you're my first customer so I'll give it to you for free. Just try and advertise for my shop if you could!" The man smiled and went back inside the shop. He later came out with two books and a box. "Here ya go son! These are just the basic stuff to get you started. Don't let anybody take the from you and remember to tell people about my shop!"

"I will sir!" Rey took the books and box and walked off back to his home, holding them close to his chest.
