44 The Day I Fall in Love with You (4)

A week had passed. William sat alone on his wheelchair in the rooftop garden of the hospital. His body was still to weak to move as he wished so he could only did everything that the doctors suggest.

He felt that he was suffocated by what he experienced in the past week. The moment he woke up in a strange place with people he didn't know at all, a kind of fear permeate into his body. It was not a fear like when he saw something frightening, but it was more like when he didn't know what had actually happened and he suddenly trapped in the situation without any leads he could follow. It was a situation where he could only become a blind man where he could only search ...

In that one week, the strangers kept visiting him. At first, he felt a great discomfort when he saw strangers went in and went out of his room. But gradually, he accepted that fact as he clearly witnessed their care for him.

They prepared everything he needed without delay and most importantly, they told him about his identity, status and every details of his life that they knew.

The moment he learned that he was William Park, a member of the prominent family in Z Country as well as the CEO of Park Corporation, he was dumbfounded. His identity was so high that he felt it was impossible that the man they were talking about was actually him. Was he really William Park? If he was really William Park, why he couldn't remember anything? Many questions popped up in his mind. Every day he contemplated to find the answers of his questions.

William was aware that he would never find the answers if he only fell into contemplation and did nothing. He needed to Investigate this matter as soon as possible. So, he toughened his resolve and followed the physiotherapy plan that the doctors designed. His body was to weak to his liking so he needed to solve this problem as soon as possible.

After one week, his body condition shown a slight improvement. It was not very significant but it was enough to motivate him to work harder.

He returned to his ward after the therapy. He felt so bored with everything he saw. Almost everything was white. Only the metal grey door handle as well as the brown table were different in color.

He decided to go up to the garden in the rooftop of the hospital building.

He moved to his wheelchair from the bed with some effort and went to the elevator. He could go to the rooftop alone as the elevator reached the rooftop where the garden was located.

He reached the rooftop and the moment he opened the door that separate the indoor and outdoor, beds of flowers came into his sight. There were rose, tulip, orchid and some other flowers he didn't know. The flowers was neatly arranged. It pleased him and subconsciously, the discomfort he felt slowly disappeared for a while the moment he took a look at the garden.

Suddenly, he heard a whimper from the deeper part of the garden. He frowned as he didn't realize someone was also there. He went further and found there was a woman crying behind Japanese rose beds.

He silently looked at the woman. He stared at her back intently as if he was familiar with that back. It was just he couldn't remember where or when he had seen her.

As she could felt an intense gaze upon her, the woman abruptly stopped her cry as she wiped her tears with the back of her hands. She turned around and saw a man on a wheelchair stared at her. She asked as her while she was still sobbing. "Um, i'm sorry. What can i help you?"

The woman waited his response for almost two minutes. The man stared at her blankly with his deep black eyes. Hearing no response after waiting for so long, she walked over, slightly bent her body and waved both of her hands in front of his face. She asked once again. "Uhm, sir, what can i help you? You have stared at me since a while ago so i assume that you need my help. Anything i can do?"

William jolted out from his stupor. He didn't reply as he looked at the woman intently.

His intense gaze made the woman felt discomfort. Fortunately, William retracted his gaze after he saw her expression. He cleared his throat as he said, "Uhm. There's nothing."

The woman nodded as she excused herself. "Then, i'll get going first." Then, she went into the building without looking back.

William stared at her back. The moment he saw her face, his blood rushed in opposite direction. His heartbeat quicken and his breath got hitched. His mind was in chaos as if there was serial bomb exploded. His entire being went blank like a computer that suddenly couldn't process any command.

When the woman asked him whether he needed her help, he actually had already returned to his consciousness.

He looked up and he stared at her. The more he saw her, the more he felt something stirred his heart, it was a happiness like what someone would feel when he met someone he was waiting for. There was longing and nostalgia, as if he had waited for her and she finally met him. He didn't know what had happened to him. It was strange. He had never experienced such thing as far as he remembered. He never saw her but why he felt that way? He intended to observe her longer, but, the moment he saw an awkward look was on her face, he finally replied her.

After the woman disappeared from his line of sight, William unconsciously touched his left chest, trying to feel his heartbeat. His heartbeat was still beating irregularly but it gradually went back to its usual pace. He mumbled softly, "What is this feeling?"
