42 The Day I Fall in Love with You (2)

A year had passed unknowingly. The snow that piled up in the winter slowly melted under the scorching sun. It was the transition of the season and spring would come soon. The weather was warmer than half a month ago when the snow was still falling. Everyone wore clothes with one or two layers less compared to what they donned in winter.

Inside a VIP ward in the hospital owned by Park Family, Willie, a.k.a William laid on the hospital bed. Some complicated machines and tubes were hooked to his body so his life could be sustained until he wake up.

The ward was quiet, only the faint sound of electrocardiogram echoed through the silence.

Sitting beside the bed, a middle aged woman looked at her son while telling him what she was planning to do today and how much she missed him. She was Mother Park, William's mother.

Stood next to her was Father Park. He gripped her shoulders, trying to lift her mood. If he didn't do it, she would cry for sure. Her wife would cry whenever she saw her son in this state. He didn't want his wife to fall down along with William so her limited her visitation. He wanted her to stay strong for him and their son, so this way the best way he could think of at the moment. Meanwhile, he ordered his sons to come to the hospital daily to monitor their brother condition.

Mother Park felt the grip on her shoulders. She understood what her husband was trying to convey. She hold her tears that was threatening to fall down with all of her might.

Behind them, three men were standing silently. They were Gabriel, Thomas and Liam.

A quivering voice suddenly broke the silence. "It's been a year since the surgery and Mr. William is still is vegetative state. The chance for him to wake up is higher in the first three months and will dropped significantly after that period of time. Now, considering the time that had passed, his chance to wake up was too low. Moreover, his body function started to decline. Indeed, there will be a miracle that might happen but i hope, everyone would prepare for the worst." The one who spoke was Head Tang. He was the head of surgery department of the hospital. Last year, he led the surgery to save William from the death door. Although they could save him in the nick of time, they couldn't really say they had saved him because William was still unconsciously until today. Head Tang was scheduled to reported the result of William's physical examination every fifteenth day of the month so he had to present to tell them about the result.

Tye moment he finished the sentence, everyone's face turned grim. The temperature plummeted as the mood got heavier. Everyone didn't know what to say because their feeling was too complicated at the moment. "Thank You President Tang." Father Park replied to wake everyone from their stupor.

"That's not a problem CEO Park. I'll excuse myself first." Head Tang politely went out of the room. He sighed helplessly. William condition was too bad that it was hard to determine whether he could wake up or not.

Tears that Mother Park tried to retain slipped and flew down. She closed her eyes to prevent herself from wailing out. She muttered softly, "He'll be fine. He's my son so he'll wake up." As much as she wanted her son to wake up, she could ignore the reality so she consoled herself from the depressing mood she was trapped in.

"Yes he will mom. He's our brother so he'll wake up." Her youngest son, Liam walked over to hugged his mom as he whispered the words.

"Yes, he will." Mother Park swept the tears from her cheek. She stood up and walked towards the door. She hold the door's handle as she suddenly turned around and stared at her son. There was a pang of pain in her heart when she saw his pale face. She muttered some words that no one could understand before she went out of the room. Father Park followed her and left his sons.

The three brothers looked at William, silently praying in their heart that he must be strong and would wake up soon.

...

The birds were chirping in harmony as it perched on a tree which flowers were blooming. Well, the winter had passed and spring came.

The sun slowly rise from the horizon. It's light penetrated through the crystal clear windows and brimmed the entire room in golden light.

William laid down on the hospital bed. Basking in the morning light, the gradation of his countenance was so dazzling that it would astonished everyone who saw him - he was like a sleeping prince. He would look as if he was just in deep slumber if his face was not thin and sallow.

William's eyes still closed when his eyelashes suddenly fluttered. His eyelids slowly opened as he squinted his eyes because the glaring light that came in contact with his eyes. After a moment, he adjust his eyes and looked at his surrounding. Everything was white.

William finally awake.
