1 THE END BEFORE THE BEGINNING PART 1

19th April 2020 is day when I died.

All alone in the middle of nowhere with no one by my side. I was a detective who was looking for the clues for the cases which were forgotten. I have spent my whole life trying to find the killer of my Father.

And that actually sums up my story.

Now when I am at the end, I keep thinking about the alternate ways my life could have been or I could be whole different story if the tragedy could have been avoided.

It all started 21 years ago, I used to live with my Father and Mother in Thane (Maharashtra). My Father Was police officer.

In that year more than 7 murder cases was reported and all those cases were common in terms of method of killing and all the victims were children of the age 10-15 years. The killer used to tie up the limbs together and cover the mouth of the victims, mark the number (used to represent the number of killing) on their body and finally kill them by slicing their throat.

Around every month new cases were being reported. Media declared it as an act of the serial killer and named the killer as 'midnight killer' because as per the autopsy report the victims were murdered at around midnight.

The killing continues but the police still go no clue for the killer. I still remember it was Friday night on 17th December 1999, the day when my Father was killed. My Father happened to witness the abduction of a child in our neighbourhood. He tried to stop him but in the process He was killed.

There was a lot pressure on the police as the number of open cases and they were not able to catch the killer. But after that incident the killing suddenly stopped and ultimately the police had to close those cases.

But, on 17th April 2020 a new case was reported which was similar to the cold cases of 1999. Method of killing, selection of victim and time of death were all same.

Ring-ring….Ring-ring…. [Phone ringing]

[Caller ID- 'Raghav']

"Hello Mr. Singh, chief has asked your assistance in new case.''

"E-mail me the details of the case and I will get back to you later."

A body of child was found in a suitcase floating in the Mithi River. Locals immediately informed the Kurla police. According to the police, the victim was reported missing about a week ago. The victim was a girl named Saanvi Patel of age 12 years old.

[Mr. Singh arrives at the meeting called up by the Chief Superintendent of Police regarding the above case]

"According to autopsy report the victim died 3 days ago, victim's limbs were tied up together and her mouth was covered with a piece of cloth and on her throat there was a cut, the killer tried to make it look like it was done by the 'Midnight killer' " said Mr. Singh.

"Mr. Singh are you suggesting that someone trying to copy the serial killer of 90's?" asked The Chief

"How can you be so sure of that it was not done by the same killer?" (Asked the other officer present in meeting)

"If we compare the cut on the neck we can clearly see the resistance on the body of the victims from the 90's but on this body there is no kind of resistance because the victim was already dead. Victim died due to consumption of Ethylene glycol (antifreeze). It is a bright yellow or green liquid that mixes with the water in cars, trucks and other vehicles to keep the radiators from freezing or overheating. It can be considered as one of the best homicidal poisons. The reason is that ethylene glycol has a sweet taste, a perfect quality in the hands of a poisoner & buying it will not be seen as a suspicious activity." Said Mr. Singh.

"That being said our suspect can be a person working at a garage or is a trader of these goods." Said the Chief

"They could have been suspect but this antifreeze was not purchased but it was self-made, so in my opinion our suspect can be a chemist or student." Said Mr. Singh

"Another two bodies have been within the range. The media doesn't know about it yet the victims were found in similar situation, Inspector Rishabh I put in charge for this case you can put your team together and start working on it, you can take the assistance of Mr. Singh for this case" Said the chief

The police started the investigation for the case. All the three victims which were found were living in the same locality near saki-naka. I was looking for most recent reports of the missing person around the same area.
