2 Prologue: 2

Bright light blinded her as she opened her eyes. Heavy headache, extreme tiredness, it took her a minute to register her surroundings.

She sit up slowly and looked around. As soon as her eyes landed on herself, her brain stopped functioning.

She was wearing a man's shirt and nothing underneath.

She panicked but soon the memories came till the moment she passed out causing her to say an ' oh '.

Her nostrils filled with a sweet smell and she moved to the kitchen to see Samuel standing there with his upper half naked.

As he turned around, he saw her and smiled, " Breakfast? " He asked showing her the plates that were filled with pancakes and eggs.

She moved and sat at the table in front of him. He gave her pills and water.

" What are you still doing here? " She asked him.

" What, you don't want me here? " He asked with an amused expression.

" No, I mean. I thought you would leave in the morning. " She said looking everywhere except him.

" I admit I have done that before but not with someone as beautiful as you. At least a proper goodbye is needed after last night. " He said with a slanted smile.

She was surprised by his behaviour. ' Such a man exists. ' She thought.

She tasted the pancakes and said, " Marry me, please. " He laughed heartily at her request.

" No seriously, this is really tasty. " She said taking another bite.

' You asked for it. ' He mumbled but she wasn't able to hear it.

Samuel studied her features. Sharp nose, dragon eyes, dimples formed when she took a bite, her hair rested on her shoulder and despite being in a simple shirt, she looked ethereal to him.

Before they completed the breakfast there was a loud bang on the door. Both of them jumped and looked at each other.

Then Maria heard a voice that made her grit her teeth. It was her ex.

She stomped her feet to the door and opened it, " What do you want? Daniel Lee. " She asked with a loud voice.

" Just listen to me, Maria. " Daniel pleaded.

" Get lost. " She said and tried to close the door but Daniel stuck his foot in between.

" Leave. " She said again.

" No, Just listen. " Daniel said. Before he could say more, a voice came from inside.

" Do you need any help Maria? " Samuel said.

Daniel pushed the door with so much force that Maria stumbled back and he got inside.

" Who are you? " Daniel asked him with an annoyed expression.

" And why should I tell you? " Samuel replied with a smug expression.

" You- So you were with him, that's why you didn't reply to my messages and calls. " Daniel asked Maria.

" Even if I wasn't with him, I still wouldn't have replied. " Maria said and pointed towards the door, " LEAVE. "

" Baby listen. " Daniel said but Samuel started laughing.

" Why are you laughing? " Daniel gritted his teeth.

" I have never seen such a desperate person. You shouldn't have cheated if she was your baby. Now I made her mine. Go find someone else. " Samuel took a sip of his coffee.

Daniel became extremely angry and pounced on Samuel. But he didn't anticipate his next move.

Samuel kicked him on the back of his leg with such force that it made him fall on his butt.

Maria snorted and tried to control her laughter while Samuel simply took another sip. Daniel couldn't comprehend what had happened.

Maria took a deep breath to calm herself and said, " Leave Daniel, don't make me call the police. "

Daniel stood up, " We will talk when you go back to the farmhouse in front of your father. "

Before he left, Maria said, " Here, take this ring as well. " She tossed the ring at his face.

After closing the door, she went inside and saw Samuel standing in front of the fireplace looking at the photos hung there.

She came and stood beside him, " What are you looking at? "

He flinched at her voice but immediately became expressionless, " Who is this beside you? "

" That's me and my father. " She replied nonchalantly.

She looked at him and was surprised to see no expression on his face. ' Weird. ' She thought.

Before she could say anything, he turned towards her and smiled but she could feel it was fake.

" I have to leave soon so if you don't mind, can you return my shirt? " He asked with a raised eyebrow.

Maria blushed and quickly nodded before running to her room.

She quickly got changed and went back to see him cleaning the breakfast table.

She returned his shirt which he wore and collected his things. She felt that he was quieter than usual.

" Are you alright? " She asked looking straight at him.

" Yes. Why? " He said.

" You seem distracted. " She said shrugging her shoulders.

" Its nothing. I am just tired. " He replied and moved towards the door.

Maria contemplated before quickly asking, " Will we meet again Samuel? " She asked.

He halted his steps and turned around. She saw him smirk and felt her insides flip.

" If its fated then definitely. " He winked before leaving.

She put a hand on her heart and took deep breaths to calm herself, ' I have a lot to tell Sarah. ' She smiled and called her friend.

Samuel left the building and looked up at her apartment, " We will meet very soon, Maria Parker. " He said before sitting in the car that was waiting for him.

" To the hotel. " He said and relaxed himself in the seat. He took a last glance at the building before the car left.
