Chapter 9: I told you

Everyone around was shocked to hear such words coming out from Li Han Zheng's mouth. Who hasn't heard of his reputation about being cold and heartless? But out of all of them, Wang Xiu Lan is the one who was shocked the most. She became speechless for a moment.

She never paid attention to this man when they first saw each other earlier. But she was intrigued by his words just now and became a little curious about him. She looked at the man wearing a charcoal gray suit and she found that his almond-shaped brown eyes matched his chocolate brown hair. His perfectly-nose accented his manly appearance. His cold and domineering aura gives away his identity. He was a man of power, immense wealth and superiority. Wang Xiu Lan now realised who this man was. Li Han Zheng.

As the richest and most powerful woman in the country, there aren't many men who can catch Wang Xiu Lan's attention. In fact, there isn't one. That is until today. Wang Xiu Lan met Zhao Jun since they were kids. What she felts towards him was more a familiarity than attraction. She was familiar with him because they grew up together. Meanwhile, as an adult, Li Han Zheng's background attracted her mainly because they are in the same circle. As they say, birds of the same feather flock together. Even amongst the elites, there are the most elite and the Li's and the Zhao's are exactly that - the elites from the elites.

Guang Jie stepped forward "President Wang, it seems our guests have somewhat offended you. We apologise for their behaviour. We accidentally hit them with our car earlier and we wanted to compensate them by bringing them here".

"Guests?" she scoffed. "I didn't know Li Corporation is so accommodating.They even requested to use Wang Hospital's VVIP room to people of this sort" Wang Xiu Lan said as she looked at the mother and daughter.

"That is... Li Corporation only provides the best" Guang Jie answered a bit embarrassed. He now realised he acted rashly. This was the first time they had hit someone so he panicked. It is embarrasing to admit being the most-trusted secretary of Li Han Zheng but back then when the accident happened, he did't know what to do. He was so used to bringing his boss to a VVIP room that he did the same to this stranger out of habit. Moreover, Li Corporation never fails to compensate generously. He thought this was only appropriate.

However, it seems it was a mistake this time. Judging by how Wang Xiu Lan spoke, it is clear that this mother and daughter pair are only trying to take advantage of his boss. It seems they are trying to extort money from him. Worse, it seems the daughter is trying to seduce his boss. Seeing all the glances she has given him. He has seen many women like this around his boss. How can he be so careless this time. He feels rather incompetent to be his secretary right now. His boss also never opposed to the idea of bring the mother-daughter pair so he thought everything was fine.

Wang Xiu Lan ordered the general manager "Get them out of this hospital now. Blacklist them! I don't want some filth hanging around the premises". The general manager replied "Right away, Miss President". He bowed and then left along with the mother and daughter being dragged away by the security.

Feeling a little satisfied with seeing how the mother and daughter are gone, Wang Xiu Lan started heading towards her office .

"Miss Wang, don't you think I deserve an apology?" Li Han Zheng spoke.

Wang Xiu Lan turned around and raised her eyebrow at him.

"I told you I wasn't the patient yet you looked at me as if I was a difficult person" he continued.

So that's what it was about. When he said it wasn't him, he was referring to that. He was explaining that he wasn't the one who wanted the VVIP room. Instead it was the mother and daughter. No, that's not right. It was actually his secretary, Guang Jie.

"Nobody ever said it was you" she replied although deep inside she feels a little guilty. She admits she was judging him earlier. She assumed right away that because he is rich and powerful, he must be the one giving the general manager a hard time - like all the other elites that she hate. However, she was wrong this time. But then she was stubborn. Her pride as an heiress stops her from giving out an apology to Li Han Zheng.

He smirked and replied "I have heard about Wang Medical Group's impeccable service towards their patients. It seems it's only limited to that".

Wang Xiu Lan replied "Indeed. After all, we are THE Wang MEDICAL group. We only care about patients. We don't waste resources on something or someone unnecessary. I'm glad the famed Li Han Zheng understands that". Then Wang Xiu Lan headed for her office without turning back. This time, with no interruptions.

Left to stand in the lobby, Li Han Zheng gave out a tiny smile as he thought to himself "Hmm. So she does know who I am." Then he walked out of the hospital. Guang Jie was confused. "Did President Li just smile?" he mumbled to himself. He had goosebumps all over his body.

- Wang Xiu Lan's Office -

Wang Xiu Lan sighed in relief as she sat down on her office chair. "Finally back in my office. I spent way too much time than what was needed trying to fix that issue" she thought.

Not long after Chen Jun came in with a cup in his hand. It was Wang Xiu Lan's favourite - Latte Macchiato. He placed it on her desk.

"I want you to release the statement I asked you to prepare earlier" she told him. Chen Jun replied in agreement and left the office.

Within minutes, the entire China was filled with the news about Wang Corporation and Zhao Corporation.

"Heiress of Wang International, Wang Xiu Lan, breaks off her engagement with the heir of Zhao Corporation, Zhao Jun"

This was the talk of the country. Everyone can already guess what happened. Prior to breaking off the engagement, the scandal between Zhao Jun and Wang Fang already shook entire China. By now, everyone is convinced that this statement was Wang Xiu Lan's way of confirming the relationship between her now-ex-fiancé and her half-sister.

- Wang Mansion -

Wang Lei: "You really disappointed me, Zhao Jun".

Zhao Jun: "Uncle Wang, I really didn't..."

Wang Fang interrupted.

Wang Fang: "Dad, I can't believe you are defending that bitch Xiu Lan!" Wang Fang didn't even try to talk nicely about Wang Xiu Lan anymore. She just called her a bitch in front of their father.

Ling Min: "Fang, what are you talking about? Your dad isn't defending her at all".

Wang Fang: "What do you mean, mom? Dad just said he is disappointed with Zhao Jun. Isn't that because he cheated on Xiu Lan?"

Wang Lei: "Zhao Jun, why didn't you stop the media from releasing those photos? If you were more careful, you wouldn't have been caught by that Xiu Lan and if you acted a bit earlier, those photos wouldn't have been on the news right now".

Zhao Jun was momentarily shocked. Of course, Wang Lei used to be a cheater too. He cheated on Wang Xiu Lan's mother for Wang Fang's mother. No wonder he doesn't seem bothered by the fact he just cheated on his eldest daughter. He smirked on the inside. This is better than he expected.

Zhao Jun: "Uncle Wang, about that... It was Star Media who released the photos. There was nothing I could do".

Star Media. The biggest media company in China. They're always very firm about their morals and they're never tempted by money or any materialistic reward. As long as it's the truth and there's sufficient evidence, they would be willing to publish the news. If there is one thing they will never do, it's to cover the truth for someone's personal benefit. This was precisely why Zhao Jun failed to cover up the scandal.
