19 The Finale

Sophia immediately embraced Mia tightly, persuading her from striking Lisa in the face again.

Hearing what Sophia said, Mia fought desperately to break loose and Sophia gritted her teeth enduring the harsh pain Mia inflicted on her.

[Time Remaining: 9 seconds]

"You're kidding, right!? How is it not serious when it concerned my life, whether I'll live or die? And what exactly are you doing!? Get the hell off of me, I was just trying to teach this whore a lesson about blaming an innocent person," Mia retorted.

However, Soon, Mia realized that Sophia was really behaving suspiciously in her actions, as she seems to be overly clingy to her when it comes to Lisa condemning her.

"You bitch! The reason you're not worried about the situation is that you're the murderer, aren't you? And if she kills me and which she also dies as a result, then you and Bryan will reap the rewards, Am I right?"

"What are you saying..."

[Time Remaining 8 seconds]

Mia came to a halt when she realized that Bryan and Sophia seemed to be in agreement with one another.

Shown by the fact that they were really ongoing earlier on, but then they abruptly quieted down, as if though they felt guilty about something.

Bryan, in particular, seems to be mumbling about something as she suspiciously looks at him from time to time during the game.

She reasoned that Bryan and Sophia were probably exploiting their emotions in the dark and that he or she was the murderer all along.

"Lisa, please! Just take a moment to relax and listen to what I have to say! Bryan or that bitch Sophia has to be it! Didn't you find how strange they've been acting lately? Maybe they were trying to trick us into fighting so Bryan and Sophia could reap the rewards!" Mia cried, pointing to Bryan and Sophia, as tears poured down her cheeks.

[Time Remaining: 6 seconds]

"Mia! Have you lost your mind!? Clearly, It's not me! Why would I want to kill the both of you!?" Bryan took a step back and retorted furiously.

"If you have the time to retort, then you would have the time to have clues. Do you have any idea who it is then?"

"How am I supposed to know? Fuck!"

"Bryan, stop defending yourself! I'm sure it's either you or Sophia... If you don't confess that you're the murderer, then we're all going to die!"

"I told you that it isn't me! You damn bitch!"

While the two of them were arguing, Lisa wiped the blood off her nose and managed to settle herself back.

She then glared at Mia hatefully, as her rage for Mia skyrocketed and she immediately clicked the [YES] button on her screen.

"Mia you filthy slut! Die! I know it was you; I already pressed it; you'll die in 5 seconds! No one's going to save you now!" Lisa screamed shrilly at Mia, demonstrating her fearlessness; and if Lisa's eyes could kill, Mia would have died countless times.

Hearing what she said, Mia blew up, and an urge to kill instantly spread through her heart.

"WTF!? I told you, I wasn't the murderer, you dumb bitch! I'm going to kill you!"

Sophia couldn't pin Mia back as she brushed her aside, elbowed her face, and sprinted at Lisa. Sophia then fell to the ground holding her face in total agony.

[Time Remaining: 4 seconds]

Lisa saw Mia charging towards her and kicked her in the stomach whilst she was laying down on the ground.

Mia was caught off guard and she suffered a direct blow, but she endured it and she drew Lisa's leg closer to her and yanked Lisa's hair in a deranged manner.

"Ahhh... That hurts, slut!"

Lisa screamed and yanked Mia's hair back as though she didn't notice the pain.

"Are you crazy? Whore! You're no longer the terrified powerless girl you used to be? Even with that change, what gives you the impression that you can beat me? You're too weak! You should've worked out before this all happened. Now, look at you! Your twig-like arms can't hurt me!" Mia retorted violently and punched her in the face with full force.

Lisa's nose gushed with blood as she fought back insanely. Her mind had long since gone numb, and she struck back with her nails, even though it was bleeding profusely and was threatening to come off.

[Time Remaining: 3 seconds]

Lisa suddenly grabbed hold of Mia's arm and moved her upper body to bite Mia in the ears. And She drew in using her entire body as a force to get her ears off of her.

"Ahhhh... You've gone insane!"

[Time Remaining: 2 seconds]

Mia retaliated by aggressively elbowing Lisa in the face and blood splattered the ground surrounding them as if they were deranged beasts rather than humans fighting to the death.

[Time Remaining: 1 second]

"You're no match for me, bitch! Now Die! Die! Die! Die!"

Mia was thinking furiously in her heart.

[DING]

[Congratulations, Murderer: Sophia Lane, on winning the game.]

[DING]

[Congratulations, Player: Bryan Godfrey, on winning the game.]

They all came to a stop, their faces flushed with shock.

Bryan froze because he had no idea, the sweet and nice girl Sophia, was the murderer the whole time.

He then concluded that Mia's crazy performance during the game, for which she was heavily blaming Sophia, was correct all along.

Yet, Sophia being the killer never crossed his mind.

However, he then remembered that Sophia's hesitation earlier, as they were about to reveal their cards to each other, was not because she was afraid of the consequences, but because she was afraid they might discover the murderer.

"So...it really was you, Sophia—"

Mia couldn't believe it and pointed her bloodied finger at Sophia. Yet her words were cut short, as she suffered from a heart attack.

She then knelt down on the bloodied ground, sobbing, looking at Sophia with remorse.

Her eyes filled with reluctance to die, but then she coughed up blood and took her last breath.

The light in her eyes faded, and she collapsed against Lisa. Her eyes were wide open in a frightening display of disbelief.

Lisa on the other hand was seen lying on the ground below Mia.

Her swollen nose and bloodied battered figure were a sight to see.

Her eyes were wide open with regret as she looked up at the ceiling.

The thought of dying here never occurred to her; as she still has reluctance on dying.

She has much more wonderful stuff to do on what her life has to offer, but alas, life played a cruel trick on her. And she happened to make the wrong decision at the most difficult point of her life, and she failed horribly.

"I didn't mean to...."

"I'm sorry... I'm really sorry."

"I was terrified... I didn't want to die!"

"I need to find my mother... I'm sorry, I can't die in this place."

Sophia sobbed uncontrollably and showed no signs of stopping.

Bryan stood there as Sophia knelt in front of Mia and Lisa, tears streaming down her cheeks, apologizing.

Bryan looked at her from the back and slowly approached her and said,

"Can I see your card? Sophia?"

Hearing Bryan speaking beside her, Sophia pulled out her card from inside her uniform and handed it to Bryan shakily.

Bryan took it from her, read the card, and found the following information written on it:

[Murderer, kill the others or you'll die.]

Bryan stared at the card for a long time, along with tears streaming down his face as he raised his arm to cover his eyes.

He tried to keep his emotions in check and manage not to cry. Yet. The tide of tears washed over him, and he wept uncontrollably like a baby.

"I... I failed! I assumed that we could easily win this game; if we could find the killer, then the others would be able to live, along the murderer would be spared as well. Yet, I'm dumb enough to believe that there are no consequences for the murderer after she was caught." Bryan sniffed as he continued.

"I'm... sorry I couldn't be of help, I... I'm a coward, I froze in terror, my mind got clouded and I couldn't think clearly. I'm so sorry Mia, Lisa, I failed you both."

"Sofia is a nice girl, and as far as I know, she didn't do it on purpose... She simply wishes to live like everyone else."

"Now I understand why the pig said we should never trust someone else!"

Bryan's eyes turned red as he knelt beside Lisa and Mia's bodies.

He pulled his hand away from his eyes and took a long look at the bodies, thinking,

"So this is what happens when I place too much faith in someone."
