1 Homecoming

After all these years stuck inside this God forbid place of eternal struggle, I can finally go back.

As I was about to step into the portal, the Goddess appeared like thin air near where the portal was.

Long dark brown hair decorated a slim and serene face, her gaze soon went towards me as she met my eyes.

She stared at me for a good while until she decides to finally speak up.

"So, are you going to leave everything behind here? Even though you're the closest thing here to me?"

"That's the thing, Vehena. I'm not FROM here."

My heart always belonged to my original world, I needed to go back.

"Creating a temporal tunnel through space and time is no easy feat, are you sure about losing everything you gained here Sir Vermillion?"

I raise an eyebrow at her statement, which in turn caught her attention before saying my piece.

"I've done it once, who says I can't do it twice?"

She looked confounded for a moment and had a small smile hearing my remark. I just needed to climb my way back up to the peak again, not like I needed my strength anyway going back to Earth.

In fact, I would only know how to branch out even faster than before. I had the knowledge, I just needed the materials and strength to go through with it.

That is if Earth had those things in the first place, maybe learning some minor healing techniques and opening a health clinic would be what I do once I return? People will always pay top dollar for their health.

"But it has been so long no? Everything you once knew might not be the same."

"Compared to having me stay here and never finding out, I'll take my chances. I do appreciate your concern Vehena."

She sighs after hearing my piece, "Well I suppose that was the deal, but maybe we can make a new one?"

After receiving help during my journey to the end, I decided to show some goodwill and nodded my head.

"Sure, as long as I'm not treated as an underling. You did say I'm the closest thing here to you, no? If we're doing this then I want us to be on even terms."

She smiled and chuckled at my demands, but that was usually a good sign.

"Of course Sir Vermillion, you helped me in my time of need. I just wanted to say that if your world is in the same circumstances, then we shall be there."

Hearing what she had actually to say made me drop my jaw a bit. But after some time thinking it through I felt my face forming a smile after hearing her words.

"You have my thanks, who knows? Maybe I'll call you once I reach there."

I wasn't coming back as the fourteen-year-old boy that lost his bearings every meter or so in the new world.

But as the highest-ranking sorcerer in another world, with countless experiences and confidence in hand.

This world shaped me to become what I am now today, all the highs and lows forged myself to become and pursue more.

She noticed the change in my mood and commented on it, "It's not like it's goodbye forever, you're always welcomed here in Darune."

I give her my thanks and I step through the portal with renewed determination. That I would see through going back, that it'll be alright.

It's time to return home.
