48 Fear (2)

Lillian pondered over her words for a while as she tried to think of an answer. "I-I don't know. I just felt like I don't like getting injected when I saw you taking it out of your bag." She answered her honestly.

"Are you sure that you don't recall anything at all?" Mrs. Jackson tried her best to get some information out of her, but all she got in return was a shake of her head.

No matter how much Lillian tried to think of the last time she had an injection, she couldn't come up with anything. Her mind was blank.

"It's fine then. Don't think over it too much." The lady doctor spoke up in a polite tone when she saw the deep frown on Lillian's forehead. She didn't want her to put too much pressure on her mind as it won't do her any good. Especially now that her body was still weak.

"I am sorry." Lillian muttered out an apology as she shrugged her shoulders. She didn't know what else to say, or how to put her emotions into words. Opening up before Blake came much easier to her. She didn't know how to tell the lady who was sitting before her that she had no memories of her past.

"Should I tell her?" She looked up at Blake and tugged at his arm around which was still holding on.

Blake trailed his eyes to her face and stared back into her green orbs. He continued to hold her gaze for a couple of seconds, trying to take a peek into her soul, before he finally gave her an answer. "Only if you feel okay with it." His words barely a whisper, loud enough only for Lillian to hear them.

He knew that he had to share about her memory issue with the doctor whether she liked it or not, but he wouldn't have done it before her. He would hate himself if her mood was spoiled, or she was forced into crying again because of him.

Lillian gave him a nod in return as she turned her attention back to the lady. "I don't, actually I can't remember anything." She spoke after clearing her throat lightly.

"What do you mean by that?" Wanting to learn it from the girl herself, Mrs. Jackson probed further. She briefly glanced in Blake's direction only to see him standing there with a frown on his face. She took a note of how he didn't seem to mind that Lillian was still clutching his arms.

"I mean that no matter how hard I try, I can not think of anything from my past." Lillian began to explain her situation to the lady, taking her own time with it. "The last thing I could think of is waking up in a place." She carefully chose her words as she didn't have any idea about how much information she was allowed to share with others.

"What place?" Mrs. Jackson continued with her questioning with the same hopes that she would learn something important about the young lady.

"Umm… I…" Not knowing how to continue, she turned her attention back to Blake, her eyes silently pleading him to help her.

As if reading what was going through her worried mind, Blake spoke up on her behalf. "Mrs. Jackson, she was saved from an old warehouse which was used by a child trafficking organization."

"Oh!" The woman gave him a firm nod as she got lost in her own thoughts.

Lillian gave her a puzzled look as she was expecting her act a little more wildly after registering the information which Blake had just shared with her. But her lack of response only left Lillian all confused and curious. She once again looked up at Blake, tugging at his sleeve in order to get his attention.

"She knows more about me and the base than you do." Blake only glanced once in her direction, and answered the unasked question which was lingering in her mind.

"Oh!" It was her turn to be left all baffled. What else did her doctor know to take something which involved child trafficking as something so normal? She wanted to ask Blake about this, but kept her mouth shut, thinking that it would be rude to go through it.

"So, all you remember is that warehouse?" Mrs. Jackson spoke up once again after getting her thoughts straight.

"Yes. I remember waking up in the same room in which I was supposed to stay for a week or so. They had to take me to another place after that." Seeing that there was no harm in telling the lady about it all, Lillian answered her honestly.

"What other place?" The doctor asked her once again.

"I don't know. They didn't say anything about it. They only told me about my age, saying that's all they knew about me." Lillian muttered out a reply.

"Why would they tell you your age? They don't get anything in return." Mrs. Jackson inquired as her experienced eyes observed her face, looking for any change in her expressions.

"They only did it because I kept pestering the man who was supposed to keep an eye on me. Also, he didn't forget to add how they are only doing it because they know I won't remember anything about them a week or so later. I don't remember the exact number of days which they mentioned to me." Lillian answered her as she tried her best to recall everything about the days she had spent at the warehouse.

Though she found it weird that the doctor was asking her about those things, she still told her everything she knew.

"And you don't have any problem recalling about those days, or do you?" The woman threw another question in Lillian's direction only to get a shake of head in response. "What about when you try to think of anything before that? Does it hurt, or do you get any flashes about it?" The lady continued.

"No, it doesn't hurt at all, no matter how hard I try to think. It feels like there is nothing at all." Lillian took a pause as she shifted her eyes to her crossed legs. She was lost in her own thoughts, trying to think of any information which might be important to the lady.

'The nightmares.' It struck her suddenly and she snapped her head back in the lady's direction. "There is one thing though..." She trailed off not knowing how to continue.
