PROLOGUE

A long time ago in a mystical land called NARTHDAL, an evil being, THE DARK ONE named NAMLOCK attacked the people of Narthdal and enslaved all who lived in it. The people lived in bondage and with great fear, so they cried and prayed to their moon goddess to save them from THE DARK ONE.

Then one night, a golden scroll was sent down to them by their moon goddess saying:

‘ON THE NIGHT OF THE MOON ECLIPSE, A CHILD OF ROYAL BLOOD SHALL BE BORN AND THAT CHILD SHALL BE THE ONE TO DEFEAT THE DARK ONE ON THE NIGHT OF A CELESTIAL EVENT AND SAVE THE PEOPLE OF NARTHDAL.’

When Namlock found out about this, he ordered his knights to find and kill all members of the royal family. One servant overheard him and informed the other people of Narthdal, who hid their queen who was already expecting.

7 MONTHS LATER...

Exactly on the night of the moon eclipse, the queen gave birth to a baby girl and gave her little child to her most trusted lady to run away with, to the human world, to protect her until it was time for her to defeat Namlock. The child was named:

AMARIS

meaning," child of the moon"”

CHAPTER 1

17 years later.....

“Amaris, get out of bed now. We are going to miss our flight, if you don’t get ready on time, “Jadis yelled across the hallway as she carried her luggage down the stairs.

“Ok mum, I’m up, I’m already up “ Amaris yelled back as she got out of bed. She hadn’t slept well the previous night or the last couple of nights, she’s been having strange dreams of people in some strange land crying out to her to come to save them and nightmares of some scary-looking demon chasing her.

She wasn’t excited about leaving her found friends on her birthday, but wasn’t sad either. Life in Crestville hasn’t always been easy or great for her and she started adjusting to life in Crestville high and making lots of friends, when things were turning out well for her, her mum decided they should move to Michigan to live with some lost relative.

Amaris staggered into her bathroom to have her bath. As she got through the entrance of her bathroom, she took off her black tank top and grey boxers before she went under the showerhead and turned it on. After some minutes in the shower, she was finally done with her bath, so she turned it off. Thanks to the shower, she was now awake. She tied a towel over her bosom and on her hair and walked out of her bathroom to her mirror at the other side of her room. She sat down on the stool in front of the mirror, removed the towel on her head and used it to dry her damp curly burnt orange hair that fell to her chest.

After she finished drying her hair, she put on a black baggy T-shirt over her blue ripped jeans and wore her white Vans. She tied her curly burnt orange hair into two rough buns, did a little makeup she that accentuated her light olive skin, grey eyes and her plump pink lips. After dressing up, she picked up her travelling bag and box from the side of her bed and went down the stairs to meet Jadis.

“Hey mum”, Amaris says as she dropped her bags on their porch and goes oner to the kitchen to meet her mum, who was whipping up a chicken sandwich for them to eat on their way to the airport.

“good morning mum”, Amaris greets as she strides into the kitchen

“good morning darling”, Jadis replies as she pecks Amaris on the cheek," happy birthday", Jadis wishes her daughter, she reached into the pocket of the apron she wore and brings out a small rectangular velvet box with a white ribbon.

“oh my goodness, mum what’s in it “ Amaris asks as she takes the box from Jadis. she opens the box, revealing a silver necklace with a moon-shaped pendant,

“huh ‘she gasps’ mum this is so beautiful. I love it”, she says as she admires the present her mum got on her seventeenth birthday. then hugs Jadis.

“can you help me put it on”, she hands the necklace over to Jadis, who helps her to put it on, “my beautiful girl, I can’t believe you are seventeen,” she says as she looks at Amaris." The necklace looks lovely on you".

“thank you so much mum”, Amaris says as she hugs Jadis.

“I’m so happy you love it”, Jadis says as she stares lovingly at her daughter.

“come on, let’s get our things to the car and get to the airport before we miss our flight.”

“sure mum”,... and with that, Amaris and Jadis took their things to the car and drove to the airport.

on the plane...

While on the plane, Amaris fell asleep and had one of her strange dreams. In this dream, she was in the same strange place that she dreams about. It looked like they were in medieval times. The houses were old and dark and there was a giant dark scary-looking castle at the far end of the kingdom. The kingdom looked lifeless, although there were people in it. The plants there all looked dead, and the people looked hopeless as they went about their various works with gloomy faces.

She walked over to one of them, an old lady who was drying her clothes in front of her cottage. She tried to talk to her, “hello mam, could you...”, as she was talking the old lady walked passed her as if she wasn’t there and went into her cottage.

As Amaris was trying to understand what just happened, she appeared somewhere else. But this place differed from the place she had dreamt about. It was magnificent. There was a blue waterfall right in front of her, which was calming and beautiful. The sand was white as snow and the sky was dark blue and the stars shone in it like tiny kite-like diamonds.

“This place is so beautiful”, Amaris whispered to herself as she looked around." where am I?" she thought to herself.

Suddenly, a woman with an awe-striking aura appeared in front of me. Her porcelain skin glowed in the long gold sequin dress she wore. Her waist-length wavy hair was as white as the sand of the floor and her eyes were as bright as the moon.

“Who are you?” Amaris asked. Instead of answering her questions, a lady said," it’s time for you to come back home, Amaris".

Excuse me, what home? And how do you know my name? Amaris asked, confused.

“you have to come back home”, the voice kept on saying, “come back home, Amaris, your people need you.”

“ahh!” Amaris jolted from her seat as she woke up from her dream.

“Amaris, are you alright?” Jadis asked, trying to calm her down.

“Yeah, I’m ok, I just had a strange dream,”

“strange dream?”

“Yeah, I’ve been having them for a while now,”

“what are these strange dreams about?” Jadis asked, very concerned

“well, in the dreams, I see myself in some strange land. The buildings there are old and dark and there’s a dark-looking castle at the far end. The dreams are not always the same. Sometimes the people there are begging and crying out to me to come to save them and sometimes I have nightmares of some scary-looking demon chasing me and when it’s about to attack me, I wake up,”

“what! why didn’t you tell me all this?” Jadis asked

“because I didn’t want you to get worried or stressed out, and I didn’t think it meant anything serious. I thought it was just those normal nightmares that people have until it started coming and I didn’t know how to tell you until today,”

“it’s okay, but never keep something like this from me again”, Jadis says as she rubs Amari’s arm. “... and don’t worry about those dreams darling, I’m going to help find the meaning of the dreams,” she says as she pecks Amaris on her head.

“ok mum.”
