1 01: The Truth behind Power

At the border, an intense magic aura overflowed from the magic wall, an aura so intense it could instantly dispatch of anyone too weak to pass through it, leaving not even bones of the trespasser. Not in the history of the Demonic Sector, had anyone ever been able to cross over the border alive, especially not anyone who wasn't given permission after being tested. Not even the past Demon Lords had enough power to cross the border alive, it was just too powerful...until now.

In the past this may have scared Diablo, but just as he had predicted, a familiar message screen appeared before him.

[Intense magic energy detected, do you wish to pass through it?]

And without a second thought, Diablo replied...

-Flashback-

In the centre of the demon capital of Seren, a baby demon of whom carries the power ,that of a demon general, was born. Thrilled and euphoric, the demons celebrated as the demon believed to be the next potential ruler was born, however in addition to his tremendous power, was a heart so cold it could turn the entire city to ice, that is what the demon Diablo wishes to destroy and to garner the ability to feel the warmth of his heart. The only desire; the only wish of which he held; the only thing of which he sought, was to feel warmth in the heart that had been so bitterly cold since the day he was born. It's not that he was a heartless young boy; it was just he had never found someone he could open up to, not in the Demonic Sector that is.

Fifteen years pass in the blink of an eye, and the demon Diablo has obtained power far greater than any general. His ability to work hard and learn has achieved him power surpassing even his teacher ,a former demon general, and though the demons believe this is to become the Demon Lord; Diablo has a much different reason in doing so.

After training none stop for fifteen years, he has acquired great power, however, his heart has grown even colder to the point where it could freeze the entire demonic sector. This particular trait would make any human or elf feel disconcerted as the boy's attitude, however the demons celebrate the boy's cold heart to the point of screaming and shouting, overjoyed that their son has the ability to become the new ruler of the demons. Of course, this excitement isn't for the boy's sake, they are excited at how filthy rich and overly famous they could become if their son were to become the Demon Lord.

"Let's drink to Diablo's progress in becoming the new Demon Lord" shouted his mother in an animated voice. Even throughout all the fifteen years Diablo had lived with his parents, not once did they ever celebrate things like his birthday or share a single compliment over something other than a growth in power; all they cared about was how much money and fame they could gain from the boy and nothing else.

Sadly, this made the boy's already ice-cold heart grow even colder, even when people would celebrate and compliment his success or give him gifts, he kept his cold and disinterested expression as he accepted their gratitude with a poker-face. It had reached a point where if all these people dropped dead in front of him, the only thing he wouldn't be able to hold in, was his laughter.

Over time, he became interested in the books that he found on humans, creatures believed to live in one of the other sectors. Regrettably, only a select few were allowed to cross-over between sectors and there was never a guarantee those people would return, after all, from what was in the stories, humans and demons had killed one another for centuries.

From what he had learned through books from libraries and ancient testaments from the dark age, human's seemed to be much more kind in his heart and he became obsessed with crossing over the border. Much to his dismay, the border was extremely powerful, and the reason behind only a select few being allowed to cross was that anyone else who tried would end up dead if they didn't have enough power. This didn't stop Diablo however, as he entered himself to brutal and extensive training to rapidly increase his power, so one day, he could cross the border and enter the human realm.

This desire grew more and more as he trained harder and harder so he could achieve the power to cross to the human realm.

"Good Work, Diablo. Your seeing great progress, I'm almost certain you will have the power to become the Demon Lord when the time comes" uttered his personal trainer as he thought about all the rewards he would be granted for training the Demon Lord and, if he was lucky, once Diablo became the Demon Lord he could grant his trainer all the riches he asked.

After realizing all the greed which resided in demons, Diablo developed a skill where he could see what people were really thinking by listening to the depths of their voice and what tone they were using along with their body language. Sometimes, he would use this skill to manipulate others in to doing what he wanted, and made them believe it would benefit them.

In fact, once he got his father to buy him an expensive sword so 'he could use it and once he became Demon Lord, the sword would sell for ten times the original price'. This would have actually been true if Diablo actually wanted to become the Demon Lord, as it had happened time and time again.

Diablo tried his best to become as powerful a demon as possible, using abyss magic and lots of forbidden magic to improve his demonic aura, as, even though he didn't want to become the Demon Lord; there was a certain system he wanted to earn. This system was seen as a mere rumour as no one but Lucifer himself had ever earned the privilege of using 'The Demon Arc System'.

After years of blood, sweat and tears; he achieved 'The Demon Arc System' of which no one but Lucifer himself had ever seen, until now. With the system on his side, he replied "Yes".

Suddenly, the borders energy levels sky rocketed as a hole in the barrier opened before Diablo's cold gaze, of which had now turned into a gaze of joy as he looked at the opening in the border which no one had ever walked through alive. Slowly, he walked through the hole in the barrier, and for the first time in his life, he had a genuine smile on his once cold face; he had made it into the Human Sector.
