Earth 2.0 Explained!

So the book is set on Earth in the year 2010, you might be wondering how the Earth has races such as Elves and Orcs running around with no one knowing well this will be explained in this Auxiliary chapter.

As seen in the synopsis, this version of earth is like two separate sides to the same coin. Most normal Humans only see the heads (The normal world) and as such their minds filter out the different appearances of Elves, Orcs and other races as humans with slightly longer ears or some that have inherited genes that make them taller and stronger and magic is simply deemed to be an act of some God somewhere.

However when a Human becomes aware that there is a tails (Magical world) to the coin the brain and body gain access to a small amount of magic that allows them to break through the barriers and see the world for what it really is a two faced coin. (Both sides existing at once within one another.) If the mind of the Human in question is too weak, then it can easily be broken in this process and result in mental breakdowns or death.

Once they are aware of the world, two things may happen depending on how they found out about the magical world. If they were introduced to it gradually by someone who is already aware of it then they are given an imprint that alerts magical creature that the human in question knows what they really are. This is done to protect both the creature in question and the human so that neither are startled by the other if they meet. If the Human finds the second world by chance then they are often killed immediately by the Reapers, the protectors of the magical world.

In the following section I will give a bit of background on the world and some of its known inhabitants (Not all) :

The Wizards: Humans who have control over the magic in the world, most notable of the Wizards in the world belong to the 7 families however there are some independent ones who live their lives normally away from the stresses of the Families.

Unlike normal Humans, Wizards are born with a natural connection to the magical world and gather magic in their bodies as they grow. Magical potential can be seen at an early age and children are often adopted into bigger wizard families if they show potential that exceeds their current one.

In the unlikely case that a wizard child is born to parents with no connection to the magical world, a reaper will collect the child and put them in a orphanage that specialises in raising wizard children that other magical families can adopt.

Reapers:

Mystical creature that prevent too much information being wrongly leaked to the normal world, if someone is to be informed of the Magical world, a Reaper often has to give permission first unless the person giving the information belongs to one of the 7 families. They are common in most countries and higher levels of government personal have most likely have met one.

Elves:

Have integrated into the normal Human world quite well, they specialise in nature magic and often own flower shops or farms. They also commonly run charities for the protection of the environment or animals. Many have been converted to the human religions however Druidic Elves still exist in the world somewhere...

Orcs:

The muscle of the Human world, Orcs often forgo intelligence to make themselves as strong as possible. Those who have integrated into Human society work in the armies of the world or as bouncers or bodyguards. Exceptionally strong Orcs are recruited into the armies of the 7 or act as the bodyguards of key family members.

Seers:

Seers can belong to any race and are those who possess the ability to see into the future using magic, this often leaves the seer blind depending on how long they look into it or how strong the seer is.

Only 12 Seers can exist in the world at any given time, as soon as one Seer dies a child is born with a capacity to become a seer. As a result children with this potential are often adopted into the 7 families and given a relatively high position in the hierarchy. Only 4 Seers are known as of the latest report....

The 7 Families:

The Dragon:

The Dragon family is considered the strongest of the 7 powerful bloodlines, each of it's family members rules over a country in Europe with the main family ruling over them all. The dragon bloodline allows the members of this family to control fire and even fly with absolute ease.

It is rumoured that the main family can even transform into dragons at will and that their fire is strong enough to melt anything on earth into a puddle on the floor.

Currently the Dragon family is in a state of crisis as one of its princes was murdered while the other has disappeared off the face of the Earth. With their succession in jeopardy the other families are sensing an opportunity to contest their power.

The Ox:

The Ox family rules over Asia and its base of operations can be found in Tokyo Japan, the bloodline of the Ox gives the family immense strength and endurance. They have access to a special kind of magic that allows them to tame monsters and demons of old as beats to fight at their sides.

Arguably they have the strongest military might out of the 7 families however the petty squabbles with the family have limited the families expansion over the years.

The Cobra: Next to nothing is known of the Cobra family except that they are exceptional assassins that specialise in poison to kill their targets. They rule Africa from the shadows, eliminating any spies or competition before anyone can blink.

The Wolf: The Wolf bloodline started as a mutation of the Dragon bloodline but they grew in power as the mutation excelled in the countries of Oceania, unlike the other bloodlines this one gives the collective a stronger power together than the individual.

A group of strong Wolf bloodline members can take on experts of the other families with ease, their only major weakness is that one on one they can barely compete. Fearing a decrease in their numbers the Wolf bloodline is often withdrawn from the politics of the other families unless it challenges their pack directly.

Currently information on the other 3 is missing my lord, all of our spies are killed when they enter, the Americas and Antarctica.....
