1 CHAPTER 1: THE REJECTED WIFE

Rejected...

I was rejected! No... That's not quite right. "WAS" is not an appropriate word to describe it. Because even right now, he won't accept me.

His clan and my clan were a bit acquainted. His grandfather, who is the current leader of their clan, suggested a "fair" deal. It is... To be able to maintain a "good" relationship between the clans, they had to make sure that there was proof of honor, dignity, and whatsoever in it. So what is this "proof"?

They would offer an old tradition. which is to let his grandson marry me. And who will be very happy with that? Neither my son nor his father, of course.

Let's dig deeper into this problem...

"So why do they have to maintain good relationships?"

There are different clans in this country. There are big and small, popular and losers. If you're from a famous clan, you have more opportunities and everyone around you will respect you.

Their clan was the second largest and wealthiest in the country. They are also powerful and influential. However, they are threatened by our clan.

Our clan is small, but other clans never dare to upset us. The reason is that we are the descendants of one of the oldest clans in this country. Our forefathers are famous for their bravery and ruthlessness in the past. Therefore, just existing in this country made them think of us as a threat. Only getting to our good side was their only option.

And now back to my problem...

So I was saying that their grandson rejected me as soon as we met each other. He told me he was not interested.

And what does he think of me?

I'm not also interested, but I don't have a choice!

He must be dreaming if he's thinking that he can get away with this. We are both stuck in this situation!

I wanted to ask my mother to try sweet-talking our clan's leader. But it would be so rude to ask for help now. I already said "yes" so I have to face this problem. Besides, I think it's my responsibility to serve and support my clan. If they think that it is the way to live in peace, then I will just swallow my pride and proceed to my soon-to-be hell life.

"Madam, if you don't mind me interrupting..." I heard a voice behind me. I gracefully turn around and see a housemaid with her head down. Oh--

"Lila! How fortunate, I was about to find you to ask about Zeid. And now you're here! Can I talk to you for a bit? ---if you don't mind. " I said, smiling kindly. She looked up and stared at me with surprise.

"I don't mind at all, madam. You can ask me anytime. " She said, blushing a bit. She's really shy around other people. I find it very intriguing, to be honest.

"Does he have a secret lover? I mean, I'm not trying to pry into other people's lives but... I'm just curious why he would reject me like that. " I bit my lower lip as I thought about what he said to me and how he wished to avoid the land where I set my foot.

She blinks and looks at the flowers outside. She did not answer for a second and then tapped her foot slightly. Then she looks at me and leans closer for me to hear her whisper.

"There was a charming lady that was always present at their family's events. I do not want to hurt your feelings, madam. But his aura towards her was way more accepting than yours. I also wouldn't want to jump to conclusions, but gossip is disseminating. " She looks around. She is a bit afraid of any human that might hear her.

I nod. I processed that information in my mind.

"Thank you, Lila. You're the best. " I said, smiling, before realizing it was almost 5 p.m. and I hadn't changed my clothes. I looked at Lila before waving goodbye.

"We must meet again. I'll rely on you, Lila. You know what I mean? " I said before rushing towards the other side of their land, where my room is located. Zeid always wishes to be outside our house, not wanting to inhale the same air that I breathe or even lay his eyes on me.

Because of that attitude, I am starting to have second thoughts about myself. Am I a human or a germ? I don't know.

Maybe both.

I sighed.

"I've had enough of these thoughts."
