53 Chapter 38: Together

"..otome game?"

Grayson stiffened, his posture stayed refined and still, but his eyes glanced at me. Elianna must feel my gaze as she glances up, an unmistakable wary stillness surrounding her, she clasped her hands together as though it would remind her of her achievements and lack of inferiority. Edward's ruby eyes watched us carefully.

I felt Kyle stiffen next to me, as he took in Edward's jet-black hair and blood red eyes. I had reacted the same earlier, Edward looked too much like Raven, but at the same time, Edward seemed like a different person compared to Raven.

Edward had laugh lines, proof of his light heartiness, and I could only count with one hand the amount of times Raven smiled genuinely in public or to strangers. Edward walked with a refreshing attitude, he seemed curious and optimistic whereas Raven had a way a moving around quietly as though he rather not be noticed to inspect people and the situation. They could be as different as the sun and moon. I noticed Edward's extremely tall height. Maybe Raven would've been this tall if he was with us.

Grayson's fingers fiddled at his lap before he met my gaze with a determination flaring in his eyes,

"Have you ever been to Japan?" Grayson blurted out; any sense of nobility abandoned.

I had to be very careful here, any wrong word and I could accidently reveal myself. I picked up my teacup and lifted it to my lips, debating how to answer before placing the cup back down,

"Ah…yes. It's a very interesting place." I answered, deciding to keep my answer vague.

"Have you… even died there?" Grayson asked boldly, flinching as Kyle's hand touched his katana.

"Yes!" I laughed, "I thought I was the only one!"

Kyle paused in confusion, before letting go of his sword. I exhaled, luckily, I didn't make a fool of myself. Edward smiled cheerfully without restraint, leaning back in his chair as he watched as in amusement as though our meeting was just a mere performance.

"What was your name?" Grayson asked casually, all formality now forgotten, smiling kindly.

"Sato Rin!" I answered, all cheery and joyful, "I knew something was wrong! You didn't act like the Grayson from the otome game!"

***

GRAYSON:

"Sato Rin!" Ivory smiled prettily and merrily, "I knew something was wrong! You didn't act like the Grayson from the otome game!"

My heart skipped a beat.

"Sato Rin?" I repeated, in doubt, "Did you… have a brother named Sato Akira?"

"Hm?" Ivory frowned, tilting her head, "How did you know?"

It could be a coincidence, yet my heart continued to hammer against my chest,

"…Well, I coincidentally had a sister names Sato Rin." I answered, smiling faintly as I glanced up at her shocked expression, "But I had to leave the world after the earthquake. It's nice to be back together, isn't it?"

Sister's unfamiliar, icy blue eyes widened, tears dripping out like pearls. She looked down at her wet dress in surprise, as though she didn't realize she was weeping and wiped furiously at her eyes.

"That's not something you'd normally say to your brother is it? Don't cry." I laughed cheerfully, and to my surprise, a few tears misted my vision.

The birds sung happily above us in the swaying branches, pink petals slowly falling down around us.

"What's going on?" Edward gasped, holding Eli from unsheathing her sword and completely ruining the mood, while Prince Kyle glared daggers at me.

"It's a happy moment." I smiled sheepishly, "Two friends have been reunited after many, many years."

It would be better to keep our backstory a secret for now. Sister exchanged glances with me and understood immediately,

"Childhood friends." She beamed, wiping the last of her tears from her face, "Almost like siblings."

Everyone instantly relaxed and smiled in exasperation at our antics.

"This is your lovely fiancée, right?" Sister looked at Eli, "I'll have to make sure she's the one for you!"

"Goodluck." Edward smirked at Eli's nervous expression.

***

IVORY:

Kyle handed me a handkerchief silently.

"I'll see him more often, hopefully." I smiled wistfully, taking his outstretched hand into the carriage.

"I'll make sure of it." Kyle promised, smiling gently at me, "So don't cry, you'll be together again."

For a moment I felt my heart skip a beat at his smiling face. I touched my chest, was I starting to have heart problems?

Our carriage didn't move for a while, we just watched Edward, Elianna and Brother walk towards their carriage. But only Brother and Elianna entered the carriage, Edward stayed behind and waved them off. Once the carriage was gone, a tall, purple haired girl walked towards Edward, every moment was elegant and graceful as she walked towards him. Only until she was embraced into his arms, her composure relaxed and she blushed a rosy pink.

Kyle chuckled at this before gesturing for the carriage driver to start to drive,

"They have such peaceful lives." I laughed, "I'm almost envious."

Kyle seemed to remember something, and he looked up at me rapidly,

"Luke seems to be having some trouble with his magic." He informed me, taking in the distress on my face with regret.

"Problems?" I demanded urgently.

Kyle faltered, "He seems to be experiencing agonizing pain every time he uses his ice power."
