48 Chapter 34: Suspect

"What's the matter?" Kyle asked nervously as we walked around in the garden.

I shook my head and pointed towards the hedge maze, that would prevent anyone following us to hear our conversation.

"I wanted to tell you something last night." I began the conversation, "Remember?"

"Yes, I remember." Kyle answered, raising an eyebrow.

"There was a forbidden shadow book in the school only I knew about. But when I went to retrieve it, it was gone." I glanced behind us, "I someone managed to sneak into my room and destroy it. No one knows my password except..."

"Luke, Easton and Rei." Kyle finished my sentence for me.

"The main suspects." I nodded.

"How do you think the suspect found the book?" Kyle asked me.

"I read many books of the shadow book back when I was younger." I answered, "I wouldn't be surprised if one of them read one of the books I left on my desk in mere curiosity and realised where the book would be."

"You think it connects with the headmaster's murder, don't you?" Kyle looked at me with his startling sapphire eyes.

"…Yes." I muttered, "You have to admit, all of them have the talent to stage the perfect murder. And, in the first half of the year, it's the boys who learn Potion Mastery who then switch with the girls in the second half of the year."

"It's logical enough." Kyle nodded, "But it doesn't have to necessarily be them, it could be one of their classmates or one of the older students."

"But what if it is them?" I demanded.

"I guess we can try to investigate them…" Kyle frowned.

"But we can't be conspicuous about it." I sighed, "Because if they are the suspect, they may attack us."

"…Do you really believe that Rei, Luke and Easton, the people you grew up with, would ever attack you?" Kyle asked sadly, "I can't ever imagine Raven, or you attack me with the intent to kill me."

I slightly softened at the mention of Raven,

"I don't want to believe it." I walked past him and out of the maze, "But if it comes to it, I'll just have to accept it. Afterall, it isn't impossible when it comes it to those three."

"There are many different things you can do with your power." The teacher continued, "However, there may be certain limits depending on how much mana you contain."

Good thing I levelled up quick with my money…

"Sir, is there anyway we can learn more than one element?" A girl raised her hand.

"Good question." The teacher ambled around the room, pushing up his glasses, "However it is impossible, one must perfect their magic before starting a new element. Trying to learn a new element before perfecting their original power would cause backlash onto their body and destroy them."

"So… it's not impossible?" The girl questioned, "All I need to do is perfect my original element."

"No, it's impossible." The teacher smiled at her ignorance, "Perfecting your power may take hundreds of years, thus, it's impossible."

The bell rang, loud and pure.

"Go get lunch now." The teacher dismissed us.

Sigh…

Wasn't the mission way too hard?!

I had to find the suspect or face death. The otome game seriously hated me at this point. To be honest, I couldn't even be bothered to find the suspect until I saw the mission, but now I had to use my brain…

But how could the suspect by Rei, Easton, or Luke?! That made no sense at all. I was only glad I managed to lie through my teeth to get Kyle onto my plan. Two brains were better than my busted brain.
