Chapter 2

Marcus was walking down the path with three other people. One being the person who posted the picture of the kobold a middle aged blonde man, the two others seeming to be a young couple that wanted to see if the picture was real or not.

"I'm telling you guy, this thing is super cool" the blonde man said with a smile on his face.

"If your not lying to us that is" the man of the couple said with a bit of mistrust in his tone.

"Don't worry, I'm telling the truth" the blonde man said with a smile on his face.

Marcus understood his hostile attitude, in a normal situation, it wouldn't be strange if he posted that picture to lure people here Nad rob them, or worse. He looked at the couple and it seemed evident that it was the girl who wanted to come here between the two.

"Stop being so rude" the girl whispered.

The blonde man cleared his throat and looked at Marcus.

"Hey kid, what do you plan on doing with that?" looking at the metal bat Marcus had in his hands.

"Contingency" Marcus said quietly.

"Don't worry, nothings gonna happen, the thing is harmless, I smacked it around a few times and it didn't do anything" the blonde man said showing off.

Marcus looked at the man thinking 'Is this guy crazy or something?'. But also thinking the only reason he wasn't attacked was probably because the kobold was weakened.

"There isn't much mana in this world compared to Eldegard, maybe that's why" Marcus said quietly.

"What was that?" the blonde man said.

"Nothing, just lead us to this thing already" Marcus said.

_______

Five minutes later they made it to a large clearing on the mountain and the blonde man reached into a bag he had on him.

Marcus and the man of the couple looked at the man cautiously as he rummaged in his bag, Marcus tightened his grip on the bat. 'Did he really set us up?'

The blonde man pulled out a piece of raw meat and swung it around.

"Relax, this is gonna help us call out our little friend"

Marcus sighed. 'Why was I so worried, I could probably take this guy in even if it was a set up'

A few minutes later the kobold walked out from a bush and watched the piece of meat with a drooling mouth.

"Wow, it's real!" the girl exclaimed.

Marcus and the other man were surprised, even if for different reasons. The man was baffled that the monster in the picture was real and Marcus was surprised at the size of the kobold.

Kobolds in Eldegard were almost 6 feet tall and that was if they were normal, he could look an average kobold in the eyes without bending his neck, but the kobold in front of him was 3 feet tall at most.

But the most surprising thing about this situation was, a kobold was one of the most ferocious beasts in all of Eldegard, they attacked humans without a second thought or a thread of remorse and they considered themselves noble warriors, but he was watching one of those very ferocious noble warrior beasts getting its tummy scratched with a look of satisfaction on its face.

"Ehat am I watching right now?" Marcus said in disbelief.

"It's so cute, can I take it home?!" the girl said.

"No, mom won't allow us to have a dog, let's not try our luck with a new species of animal!" the man said.

"Excuse me" Marcus walked past them and looked at the kobold.

"I told you guys it was real!" the blonde man said.

"I knew it was real" Marcus said coldly looking at the kobold, releasing a bit of bloodlust.

The kobold reacted to Marcus' gaze and jumped away from him, but to be met with a bat to the face.

The kobold flew back and hit a tree. It got up but got hit again as Marcus swung down with full strength.

All the three people with him watched as he kept on hitting the kobold, they heard the constant noise of the bat and bone connecting before the bone cracked and exposed the brain matter of the now dead kobold.

"What are you doing?!" the blonde man angrily asked.

The girl cried as she wiped blood off her face.

"What the hell man?!" the man said as he went to comfort his sister.

Marcus looked at his bat and sighed.

"As I expected, it was weakened from the lack of mana, if it was a normal kobold, I would've long died" he said as he took a handkerchief from his pocket and wiped blood of his face and bat.

He looked at the people and waved before walking away. "You should watch out, those things aren't pets" he said before he vanished from their view.

________

Marcus got home, ate and went to his room.

He layed down and sighed. "I got no reaction when I killed it and it was way weaker then it should have been, if it were in normal condition, it could have killed me three times over"

He shut his eyes and took a deep breath.

"Eith only a few days, what can I really do to prepare myself?" he sat up and picked up his phone.

"I should at least give a few hints online, if I drop a few names of a couple places people should go will probably help a few curious people out at least" He flipped through his phone and went to his messeges. "But first things first, I should help those who are closer to home"

After a few minutes he put his phone down and layed back. "Time to get some shut eye"

______

A few days past in a flash and Marcus was downing push-ups in his bedroom.

"Im not sure how much working out will help me, but it should make even a bit of a difference" he stood up and drank a bottle of water. He looked at a plate of food and started eating, he had told his mom he was sick and needed a few days off from school.

"Tomorrow is the day" he looked outside his window and rather then worried or scared he seemed oddly excited.

"Is this excitement I feel?" he smirked and brushed his hair back exposing his ruby eyes that were glowing in anticipation, his near pearly white teeth glistened in the sunlight.

"GGs you fuckin noobs"
