17 "Innocence in the Dungeon"

"I wish I was a child again. If only I had hurt because I fell down. And my heart would only beat when I ran a lot..."

*

I looked at Bruce who broke the door. While I was still in shock, he held me in his arms and went out into the hallway. I was still trying to comprehend things while everyone in college was screaming in the hallway. I was seriously confused. As Bruce ran with me in his arms, I got angry and yelled.

"Get me down Bruce!"

"Come on, are you serious?"

"I said put me down! How about you tell me what happened instead of running here with me on your lap?"

Bruce rolled his eyes and lowered me in the middle of the hallway. While I was waiting for the answer to my question from him, the ground shook and I went back and hit the wall.

"What's going on?"

"Prisoners-"

I interrupted and whispered.

"Did the prisoners start this mess now?"

"Exactly! Sometimes it's hard to restrain them. Especially those who have mutated... Even being in the same environment with them is a reason to die!"

"Then... Then heal them and release them! Why are you torturing them?"

"I am not... Ward personnel are doing it. They are men and women who are the best in martial arts and magic. They never put someone incompetent there. They also have no intention of healing or releasing them. It can't be..."

"Are you incompetent?"

"No, actually I was elected there, but I refused. This job requires responsibility and I don't want to be the reason for the screams of women and children."

Perhaps Bruce would have been a good sorcerer, unlike those here. Except for his impolite moves, he was a good man. As I understand it...

Bruce looked at me sarcastically and smiled.

"I'm sure you think how weak I am right now... Every guy and girl here thinks so."

What he said angrily made me upset. Contrary to what they said, he was very strong and great. Not wanting to hurt someone made him different. I smiled and looked out the window. The prisoners were captured and the fire in the destroyed places was put out.

"I neither belong here nor am everyone, Bruce... You can be sure..."

While looking at me with a glaring impression, I smiled again and started walking towards my room.

"Good night Bruce... See you next week!"

Suddenly his face brightened and he grinned. He smoothed his red hair and winked.

"See you blonde!"

I smiled and walked into my room and closed and locked the door, which was fortunately still intact. When I went to bed, I could no longer bear the thoughts that occupied my mind and let my brain rest. Even while laughing, bad memories and anxiety for the future haunted me.

*

I woke up as I fell out of bed and rubbed my head. I had finished one of my nightmarish sessions that happen every night. I looked at the blank empty wall, as I still could not recover from the nightmare. I did not realize I was crying until I palmed my face with my hands. Everything I had hidden inside suddenly spread out and exploded like a volcano. With the death of my father, my mother's suicide, and more, I got up suddenly, opened the locked door and started running down the hallway. No matter what, I had to learn to cast spells and fight. I had to save the prisoners and make this place no longer functional. I should have seized and destroyed the five Tania Statues just in case. I always knew there was even more when I enumerated them in my mind. Because you would always come across more in this life. You couldn't breathe. You wouldn't be left alone. They would squeeze you until you drown. They would take more and more of your life energy every day.

When I came to the exit door of the college, I kicked the door so much that I guess I was very lucky if not everyone woke up. With the moon hanging in the sky, I thought maybe one day I might be there. I was going to watch the universe without any trouble... But I think that was impossible.

I walked under the huge tree ahead and sat down. I leaned my head against the tree trunk as the wind caressed my hair. I closed my eyes and listened to the voices. Why was this place so beautiful? Why would they pollute a beautiful place with what they did?

The voices I heard while I was thinking about these made me open my eyes. Two big men were going to the place called the ward. That building was huge and I think it was divided into sections. Because it had different entrances. I got up slowly and followed them without a sound. The door they were trying to enter looked bigger and stronger than the others. They entered the password and opened the door and rushed inside. Before the door closed on its own, I entered and looked at the maze-like corridor in front of me. The men were already missing. I was walking slowly, as the screams and growls coming from behind made me nervous. When I turned around the corner of the wall, I was almost struck by what I saw. Even my inner voice was stuttering now. What had they done? How could they do it?

I looked at the innocent mutated people behind each cage. I did not dare to go any further. What I was going to see scared me to death and the risk of getting caught was quite high. I approached the nearest cage and looked at what was growling quietly in the corner. It stood up and approached me. It was clear that it was afraid because of its cautious steps. Its growl, which dwindled as it approached me, suddenly stopped and it clung to my arms. No matter how scared I was while it was squeezing my wrists, I tried not to show it. Even if I looked at its thoughts, I didn't understand anything. It... it couldn't think. It was completely devoid of human things. It was thinking like a wild beast. As the tears flowing from my eyes grew more and more, I took an oath to save these poor people. For some reason, although it was tightening my wrists right now, I wasn't breathless and I wasn't afraid. Maybe I could feel that it was innocent.

I guess I could look back at its memories... Yes I should have done that. I closed my eyes and reached its memory, which had been hidden in top secret places, started watching.

I was in a forest. There was a girl with me. I guess... I think she was it. What was mutated was a little girl. What a beautiful face she had. The girl suddenly smiled and shouted.

"Mom! You're here!"

I looked back and saw the mother and father of the girl. I retreated and continued to watch them from the corner. The girl hugged her mother and smothered her with kisses. They were creating such a magnificent scene while her father was also tickling her daughter...

"Come on ladies! Set the table, come on!"

The girl's father looked very funny as he was ordering the two of them. Suddenly I smiled too and continued to watch this beautiful memory. Shouts and gunshots from behind the trees made their smiles fade, including me.

Sorcerers from every side made their way to the family and held the mother and began to move forward. While the father was trying to stop them, the little girl was sobbing and crying. And then something happened that I didn't expect. What a little girl could do was more than her height!

As the girl slipped among the men, she hugged the leg of one of the men holding her mother and said that sentence...

"Leave my mother! Take me!"

The men looked at each other and threw the mother into the corner and took the girl into their arms, as I watched what was happening, crying, unable to bear it anymore. Mother was left unconscious on the ground and father beaten. The girl had only these in mind:

"I did it all for you, mommy..."

When I suddenly returned to the real world, I looked at the girl who had the mutation. Her eyes were also full of tears as her memory was revealed. I couldn't take it any longer and retreated. She wanted me to hug her as she stretched her arms out to me like a little girl. I hugged her. No matter how bad she looks... No matter how much she is no longer a kid... I was going to set up all of those here anyway. I whispered quietly as I left the girl.

"I promise... I'll save you all!"
