1 The Alpha(Edited)

"Mother, why is the Alpha sitting there looking so lonely? I want to play with him" the young boy tugged his mother's skirt and she quickly covered his innocent mouth before he could be heard by anyone.

"Didn't you promise to keep shut if I brought you to see the fighters? Do you want to go back to the farm?" she threatened the little and he shook his vigourously and promised to keep shut but his gaze still often fell at the lonely Alpha sitting on his throne.

The boring glint in his blue eyes wasn't noticeable by any of the guards that surrounded his throne which was elevated above other chairs in the stadium because they wouldn't dare look him in the eye.

His stare was deadly as he watched the skimpy wolfs, pardon me puppies, snap at each other with their claws in the huge ground, not a single drop of blood was on their bodies, yet they were breathing like one that was about to pass out.

He rested one of his hands under his chin and the other kept on tapping rapidly at the armrest of the exorbitant chair as if he wanted to poke a hole on the luxurious foam. The exceedingly boring look stained his face deeply that one would feel pity when noticed.

The Alpha took a sharp glance at his golden wristwatch which rested on his slender, pale wrist. Five minutes and forty five seconds has passed since he stepped his royal foot into this pitiful stadium to watch two lizards dragging for dominance.

Well, five minutes was a lot for self restraint, right? His longest record on that was three minutes so he has improved a lot, now time to put a stop to this insanely stupid fight.

"Stop"

Just one word was enough for everyone at the North-Eastern Pack Battle Stadium to stop dead while cold chills rushed down their spines. The Alpha was a man with little words, heck, they are certain he has a record for only hundred words to spoken a day but when he spoke, it meant volumes.

Every single living being, including the measly fighters on the ground stopped dead on their tracks.

The North-Eastern Pack held a competition annually to recruit new and vigorous young Weres into the army. Every male Were in the pack looks forward to this competition not only because it is one of the biggest competition held but also because if they managed to get to be amongst the top fifty, they get to serve their Pack for eternity, with a lot of privileges as well.

But this year's competition turned out to be different when two skinny, young and pale Weres stepped into the battleground, demanding to have a sprawl to get into the army.

The young Weres in the battleground were shocked to be interrupted not just by anyone but the Alpha himself, the idea of running away with their tail tucked in between their legs seemed more enticing when the Alpha left his exceptional chair to come down to the ground.

The guards opened the large iron gates with trembling hands for the Alpha to step in the ground, the Weres took a few steps back when he strided over with large steps towards them.

In a swift motion, he took off his blue, royal robe, loosened his black suit jacket and used his right long leg to kick the kneecap of the Were on the right, twisted his arm which came out in a diagonal position and used his palm to hit him in the neck. He then took an elegant turn to punch the stomach of the other Were and twisted his right ankle.

He straightened up, buttoned up his jacket and dusted off the dirt on his sleeve.

In a blink of an eye, the two young, skinny Weres were on the floor, grunting in pain, they didn't dare cry out in pain because they knew they would be dead before they could even try. The audiences seated in the stadium were amazed at the attack their Alpha pulled, they all leaned forward, waiting for more because that was the only action they witnessed since the start of the fight.

"You call that a fight?" his loud, thunderous voice echoed through the wide space and fell heavily on the ears of his Pack.

"That seemed more like more a dance of tango than a fight to me. Yet, you both dared to think, Pardon my error, dream of being accepted into the army of this Pack? You brought me here to witness the display of the most idiotic and nonsensical show you call a fight?" He spat venomly at the Weres on the floor.

"You" he pointed at the Were with a broken arm.

"You have great upper body skills that you can use to your advantage yet the fear in your eyes wouldn't even let you inflict a scratch on your opponent" he put his hand in his pockets and leaned on his weight.

"And you" he pointed at the other Were who was clutching his now swollen ankle.

"Although you have not an ounce of muscle in your body, you could have used your fast movements and vigour to take out your opponent in a second yet you kept on throwing your weight around, going on a defense. What type of show were you putting on? Because that wasn't entertaining in the slightest" he used his hand to smoothen the loose strands of his black hair as he bellowed out of frustration.

"Until you two are able to improve your nil skills of combat, let not see nor even sniff you close to anywhere this stadium, do I make myself clear, Weres?" they didn't need another word as they scrambled up to get far away from this stadium as fast as their beaten up body could allow them.

"The show is over, return to your appointed work" he strode over to leave the God forsaken stadium as a servant quickly rushed to his side to pull another clean robe on his shoulder as he left.

----------

His long steps echoed as he lazily walked down the hallway of his great castle.

Alpha Xavier Niroma the II, was the Alpha, king and ruler over the North-Eastern Pack. As a ruler, he was raised to be cold, unforgiving and tough so he could efficiently preside over the Pack without a hitch. Nobody truly knows why he had a heart of stone, some say it's because he lost his parents at a young age, some say he misses his younger sister who left to preside over another kingdom whose mate is the Alpha of the South-Western Pack as the Luna, while others say it's because he has been alone for too long and that is affecting him negatively.

Nobody truly knows his story. He never failed to impress his Pack because he is known to be a fierce fighter and have won a lot of war against other kingdoms which made his Pack to be one of the most strongest Pack that ever existed.

He heard footsteps running up the stairs and let a heavy sigh as he already smelt the intruder.

"Xavier! Xavier!" a Were with golden hair, green eyes that shines with mischief ran and put his arm over Xavier's shoulder.

Xavier stared at the arm and used his pinky and thumb to take it off his shoulder.

"Alpha, you call me Alpha, Ren" he hissed at the golden Were who smirked mischievously.

Ren Niroma was Xavier's second and most annoying cousin, although he is very childish and mischievous which is totally the opposite of Xavier, the love he has for his Pack knows no bounds which earned him the status of the Alpha's Beta.

Though, he is a century younger than his elder cousin, he already has a beautiful mate named Chivia, who is the female head of the warriors.

"What you did in the stadium is spreading like wildfire across the kingdom. I heard you took them down in the blink of an eye. Woww, why am I not always there when the drama happens?" Ren's expression went from shocked to admiration and then to sulking as he talked amicably, ignoring his cousin's moody attitude.

He was used to Xavier's indifference. Being with a person as indifferent as Xavier for almost two centuries wasn't an easy task to pull.

"The people must have nothing better to do than to gossip about matters as trivial as that. What type of Weres were brought into that ground, just watching them was excruciating" he resumed walking down the hall, the servants passing by, bowed their heads in fear and admiration of the great Alpha.

"Oh, come on. You never find joy in anything you do. Of course it would be boring. How many times do I have to teach you, dear cousin, how to restrain yourself from anger and rage. You-" Xavier zoned out of Ren's blabbing.

He was having a headache and his cousin couldn't keep shut for a minute. As soon as he reached his room, he turned towards the talking Ren.

"Go put a sock in your mouth, Ren" he said and slammed the door in poor Ren's face.

Ren stomped his foot on the ground and took the arm of one of maid nearby to complain how his cousin maltreats him.

Xavier took a few steps iand plopped on a sofa, he took a look at the room which was extraordinarily clean thanks to the hardworking maids and let out a sigh.

A room so big and magnificent, stocked with the highest quality of furniture and sheets, yet only for him. He rested his heavy head on his hand, he stroked his left side of chest where his beating heart lay.

Werewolfs are extraordinary supernatural beings, one interesting ability of theirs is to sense their mate who is the life partner the Moon Goddess has chosen for each and every one of the Weres.

The ability is heightened when the Werewolf turns eighteen and stops aging as a human. Some of the Werewolfs are lucky to find their mate in a short period of time like Ren but there are also some who spend their entire lifetime searching for the other half of their soul.

Xavier wasn't an exception in that case, he has lived for three centuries and a decade yet his heart hasn't felt anyone that close to The One. A lot of women had literally threw themselves at the Alpha but never could he even touch them because his heart and soul longed for his one and only.

He gave up the search a decade ago, he couldn't handle the disappointment of not being able to find his mate anymore . And now he can feel it, the way his heart is slowly and gradually turning into a hard and cold surface until the darkness consumes him and his heart stops.

Werewolves aren't immortal beings, they are just much stronger and have a longer life span than normal human beings which ultimately means they can be killed. Either by their worst enemy, a silver sword or by their hearts turning into stone.

The heart is a very vital part of the body but without love and happiness, the heart will turn hard day by day and eventually stop beating, that is the cruelest manner in which a Werewolf dies.

It looks like our great Alpha isn't exempted.

He let out a huge and frustrating growl as he took off his royal robe and his suit, his wolf ached for a run and he knew the best place for it.
