The Reaper's Target

The system that determines when someone dies has been working without flaw within the reaper community for thousands of years. A reaper obtains case files, targets their victim, then celebrate after. After so many cases or a hitch in plans, a reaper may be terminated. While murderous plans are known to occasionally fall through (and need to be reassigned), what happens when the reaper stops making plans? What happens when the reaper secretly falls for their victim? How will he be able to avoid termination and keep her alive?
