The Beginning

The drive to High school was not a long one and Angel soon found herself at the gates to her school, she sighed and stared at the silver symbol of a lion.

"New day, new me" she muttered.

She was switching off the engine when someone shoved their face up against the window, Angel stifled a scream.

Once her heart had slowed again to its normal rate she slammed the car door and stepped onto the gravel path.

She knew exactly whose face had been squished against her window.

James was doubled over, clutching his stomach and hiccuping with laughter "that was hilarious" he said, wiping the tears of laughter from his eyes. Angel gave him what she hoped was a very serious look.

After James was done laughing he gave her a forlorn look "I'm sorry Angel," he said genuinely.

Angel just turned and grabbed her bag out of the trunk.

She decided to let him grovel for a minute, James was her best friend, they had been friends since Primary school. But for laughing at her she thought he deserved the silent treatment.

As they continued walking the silence became unbearable for James, "Angel I really am sorry" he stared into her eyes.

Angel just smiled slyly, "its ok James, I forgive you"

James gasped dramatically "you weren't even mad, you tricked me" then he started walking faster "for that, I shall not tell you the great gossip of today!"

Angel rolled her eyes and ran to catch up with him. He still wasn't talking to her by the time they had reached their lockers, she couldn't take it anymore "James tell me before I shred your copy of my history notes".

James gasped again "Rude, but fine. Ok so the goss is that there's a new guy at school and he is H O T, like all the girls are totally obsessed."

Angel stared at him "James, how many times do I have to tell you, boys less, study more" she shook him lightly. James laughed "Ok ok, but you'll be sorry when you're bored and lonely~" Angel opened her mouth to reply but the bell for first period rang.

Sighing to herself, Angel grabbed her books and set off to class.

She went to sit down at her table when she was shoved violently, dropping her books all over the floor. "Damn it, my notes" she muttered, grabbing them off the floor.

"Uh sorry..." a voice came from above where she was bending down, Angel looked up to see a boy with short black hair staring down at her.

She stood up, stuffing her notes back in her Science book, then turned to look him in the eye. To her fascination, his eyes were a piercing green.

Embarrassed, the boy rubbed the back of his neck "I'm new here" he offered. Angel huffed out a sigh, then put out her hand for him to shake "I'm Angel".

He raised an eyebrow at her "is that really your name?", she crossed her arms "yes, it is, why?"

He smiled "nothing, I've just never heard that name before."
