Interrogation

Dave drove his car down the busy road, he laughed at other drivers who slowed as he passed. Of course, that was to be expected since he was in a police car, the Station wasn't very far up ahead. The chief of police gave him the lousy job of questioning a boy who had been found lying next to a dead girl.

Dave didn't think much of the task but he was at least getting paid for it so he kept his grumpy thoughts to himself, the police station parking lot was derelict as ever with potholes and cracked concrete. He parked in between the faded white lines and switched off the engine, he decided to put his police vest on as well. It usually made people talk quicker and Dave didn't want to miss out on his lunch break.

The boy was already waiting for him in the interrogation room.

Dave slid into the chair opposite the boy, the metal cold against his pants. He struggled to open the drawer under the table, but gradually it gave way with a disgruntled scrape. Notebook and pen in hand, Dave sighed and scratched at his stubble "right, let's get this underway." He leaned forward and looked the boy in the eyes "What's your name son?"

Finn blinked slowly and smiled "my name is Finn"

Dave wrote something down in the notebook "aight, now, why were you at the scene of the crime?"

Finn frowned "scene of the crime?"

Dave nodded slightly "this girl did not die of natural causes, so we must assume other forces were at play".

Finn's eyes widened "ok, well uh, I was on my motorbike and I went around the corner and there she was, with blood pouring from her neck, I remember feeling really sick and then...nothing?"

Dave studied Finn's face intensely "Dr. Martin said the paramedics found you blacked out at the scene, are you sure you don't remember anything?"

Finn nodded "yeah, its basically nothing after that"

Dave narrowed his eyes "are you sure? You seem awfully nervous for such a simple set of questions, have you done something wrong that you don't want to confess to...?"

Finn hardened his gaze at the police officer "we are done here."

Dave laughed, but it was extremely forced "I don't think so son, you are staying here until you answer every one of my questions, and then we're getting out the lie detector and doing it all over again."

Finn smiled menacingly "we. are. done. here."

Then it happened, something in Dave's eyes changed, his expression softened "of course." He said quietly, and just like that, he stepped aside.

Finn chuckled "interesting..."
