17 A Dark Gust of Jealousy

[Corvus POV]

Corvus was in his raven form as he flapped his wings away from the palace to the forest.

'What is wrong with me?'

Corvus tried to calm his chaotic heart. He didn't mean to hurt anyone at the banquet. He just came and perched on a tree to watch over the banquet, specifically watching over Anna. She looked very busy cleaning the glasses and served the snacks for the noble guests.

She didn't seem to mind his brother, Prince Ignis, who was the star of the banquet. When everyone was busy trying to flatter his brother, Anna ignored him and continued doing her duty. Corvus watched how Anna dexterously cleaned those wine glasses without caring about the 'fairy tale' that many young girls often wished.

'Well, she doesn't seem to be interested in being the princess of the ball,' Corvus thought. He was strangely relieved when he saw the indifference in Anna's eyes. He was thinking about returning back to his tower.

Until he saw his older brother, Ignis Lunaris, swaggered towards Anna and suddenly pulled her to his embrace.

Corvus stayed on the tree branch, watching closely as Anna and Ignis had a small argument and escalated into Ignis carrying Anna on his shoulder, like a sack of potatoes.

Corvus had to hold himself before turning into a human and snatched Anna from Ignis. However, he realized that his human transformation was still very unstable. If he transformed into a human without preparation, he might kill someone here without knowing.

'W—Why do I need to get so worked up over it anyway? Anna is not harmed, and Ignis doesn't seem to have any bad intention,' Corvus assured himself, 'I'm here to watch Anna. There is no use to interfere here.'

Although Corvus said that to assure himself, his heart was unsettled. He thought nothing would happen if he could just ignore everything, but his heart actually started getting chaotic when he saw Anna and Ignis danced together.

Their steps were synchronized naturally, and their fingers intertwined as they became the star of the banquet.

'I swear to god if Ignis dares to… to…'

Corvus shook his head to clear the dark thoughts in his head. He knew how dangerous those thoughts can be.

'Everything is alright. Anna has her own free will and—'

Corvus lost his composure when Ignis leaned in to kiss Anna. Corvus' eyes were blurred for a moment, and when he regained his senses, he saw Ignis was thrown away by a gust of dark wind and hit the table.

'Did I do something?!' Corvus was confused and panicked. This was often the case when he was too emotionally stimulated.

Corvus instinctively looked in Anna direction, hoping that he didn't hurt her. But when he shifted his raven gaze, his gaze met with Anna. They stared at each other for a while, and subtly, he could hear a voice inside his head.

But it was not his own voice because this one sounded softer.

'Mr Raven, are you… jealous?' Anna asked him.

Jealous?!

'I… I am not jealous! Anna and I have no commitment! I have no intention towards her!'

No, he couldn't be jealous. He already promised himself that he would stay as a regular raven for Anna. Jealousy should not exist!

But the more he denied, the guiltier he got. His heart and mind were in chaos, and Corvus immediately stretched his wings and flew away far.

What he didn't know was that his chaotic mind transformed into a dark cloud above the palace, and a dark gust blew everything in the banquet. When Corvus turned his head to check on Anna again, he saw Anna was holding on to a pillar because the dark gust got stronger and fiercer.

'Anna!'

Corvus dove as a raven as he worried that Anna would get hurt because of his uncontrollable power. Corvus rushed when he saw a table flying towards her. But when he was so close towards Anna, Ignis appeared behind Anna and punched the flying table.

Corvus halted when Ignis hugged Anna with one arm.

Ignis created a sun miniature on his index and threw it to the dark cloud created by Corvus' uncontrollable emotion. Once the small sun and dark cloud collided, the dark cloud disappeared, and the gust stopped.

Corvus watched how Anna looked confused, but she still clenched on Ignis' shirt after the small hurricane. Corvus lowered his gaze for a moment and then flew far away from the palace. He was not needed here anyway.

***

Corvus perched in the middle of a forest as a raven. He was still confused about his own feeling, but one thing for sure, he felt guilty towards Anna.

Because he harmed her due to his uncontrollable emotion.

But what caused him to be uncontrollable?

Is it Ignis? No, not really. Rather than angry, he was more scared of Ignis. Of course, he felt guilty because he was the one who killed their father and little sister in front of Ignis.

Is it Anna? Corvus didn't know either, but he was already assured for a while that he wouldn't fall in love with Anna. He was content to watch over her.

Is it the image of Ignis and Anna together?

Corvus dared not to answer.

'I also want to see her in my human form…' Corvus closed his eyes as he slowly morphed back into his human form.

The animals around Corvus escaped as fast as possible, knowing the wind around Corvus could kill them.

Corvus groaned in pain as he turned back into a human forcibly, "Aarggghh!"

A small explosion happened around Corvus' body once he opened his eyes. Everything in the radius of 50 meters had been desecrated by the dark wind around his body.

Corvus still had his raven claws as legs. His body was still covered in feathers. Again, he turned into an imperfect human. The only time he could turn into a perfect human was during the full moon, and that also depended on the mood he had at that time.

Corvus stared at his raven hands despairingly, "How could I meet Anna with this despicable imperfect body…"
