After she brushed up her favourability score with the old madam as usual, Su Kui left and ran into a nice-looking man, who looked to be about twenty-one or twenty-two years old.

He appeared solemn as he walked forward while staring ahead and without slowing down. He had actually intended to ignore Su Kui who was heading toward him.

Su Kui smiled bitterly inside. Her biological eldest brother, Feng Zheng was probably the only man of that age in the residence. She did not know how Feng Yanran managed to make herself so detestable to the point that even her own brother despised her.

Although Feng Zheng's expression remained unchanged, he actually threw glances at his sister numerous times. Despite hating his sister for being weird, they were still born from the same womb, so how could he not care about her?

Yet, if he opened his mouth and asked about her, she might throw him a few contemptuous remarks again. He attempted to move around her to greet the old madam, but he saw her puckering her lips and smiling bitterly. She was blinking her big cat-like eyes, and they were watery.

He stopped at once as if his feet had become heavy. He could not lift them up anymore and sighed helplessly. "What's the matter this time?"

Su Kui's eyes brightened, and her gorgeous face looked even more sorrowful. She wrinkled her nose as she asked in a pleading tone, "Do… Do you hate me, Brother?"

Feng Zheng was stunned. How long had it been since Yanran last called him "brother"?

"I…" He wanted to open his mouth and console her, but then he remembered the numerous pranks Feng Yanran used to play on him, as well as her sinister mockery. His words were stuck in his throat, and he could not express them as a result.

So, he shut his mouth and kept walking toward the Fuzhen Courtyard with a cold face.

 When he passed by her, a snow-white hand held on to his clothes.

 "Let go!"

 "No!" Su Kui's face was set in a stubborn expression. "If you refuse to be honest with me today, I will never let go!"

The maids and old maidservants around them wailed internally. The eldest lady and eldest master were quarreling again!

Feng Zheng was sick of Feng Yanran's unreasonable behavior. He tore off the hem, and his words were biting. "Yes, I hate you!"

Then he left without looking back, leaving Su Kui to stare into space with the hem in her hand.

After a while, she suddenly turned toward Feng Zheng's direction and yelled, "Yes, yes, I'm detestable, I'm disgusting, and Mother is gone! Father hates me! Now even my brother hates me! What's the point of me being alive?! I'll just die then!"

There was a small lotus pond not far from the Fuzhen Courtyard. It was early summer, so the white and tender lotuses in the pond were blooming gracefully.

Su Kui had already been aiming for the pond. After she uttered those words, without asking her maids for help, she pushed her wheelchair with both hands and moved toward the lotus pond little by little.

The maids and old maidservants were terrified.

Mrs. Gu turned pale to the point of fright. She came around and reached out, trying to stop Yanran. Her face was full of tears. "Eldest Lady! Milady! What are you doing? Don't do that. The eldest master didn't mean it. You—"

Su Kui interrupted her while she experienced a shortness of breath from crying too hard. Her tears were like pearls that had lost their string. "Don't stop me, Mrs. Gu. I know it's because the eldest lady of the Grand Preceptor's Residence is a disabled person who can't walk. Many people out there are laughing at father and brother. Just let me die so that the reputation of this household can be restored."

Su Kui was pushing her wheelchair toward the lotus pond, while Mrs. Gu was trying to hold her back in desperation. The other maids were dumbfounded. What on earth was going on?

 "Let me die, Mrs. Gu. Let go!"

As she reached the side of the pond, Su Kui made an attempt to jump. Mrs. Gu held her tightly and let out a piercing scream. "Eldest Master! Come quickly! The Eldest Lady is trying to kill herself!"
