27 The Queen of the Hearth Part 27

Just so you now, 1 Newton = 9.8 kg. Jassi had been correct in her estimation. Stopping her so suddenly meant that the man had managed to handle 45,000 newton of force. What would be it equivalent in weight? Moreover, he had been able to perceive Jassi running at the hypersonic speed. Certainly, he could not be a normal man.

The man held Jassi's hand and took him to a slum-tent under a flyover. With his clothes and body, he fit right there with the poorest of the poor. Jassi would have looked odd one here if anyone could see her before she entered the tent. Just as they entered it, the angel again stopped them instantly using his hand as his super brakes. This time, Jassi could audibly hear the bone of her wrist crack.

Before she could scream, the man cupped her mouth with one hand and performed some gestures with the other one. Silver sparks of electricity left his fingers in all directions. Visibly, nothing changed. Before moving his hand away, he pointed his fingers to Jassi's wrist.

Jassi was terrified. She thought that this man/wizard/angel/demon was going to shock her but the silver sparks that hit her wrist healed all her pain instantly. She turned around her wrist. It was just fine.

"You can speak now", the weird man said. "Before you forget, 1 N of force is equal to 9.8 kg of weight. 45,000 N is equal to about 4,600 kg of weight."

Jassi eyes widened further. This man could hear her thoughts.

"Yes, I can. So, essentially, if you meet me at a place where you cannot talk, you just have to think and I can hear you. There's a lot of information we need to catch up with. I wish to start with your questions first and then, I'll fill in the gaps for you."

"Who? What are you?", Jassi thought. Her mouth was still shut in wonder.

The old man smiled condescendingly. "Okay. The practice will do you good. I am angel scientist who guided your inventors to produce you."

"Inventors. To produce me. What does that mean?" Jassi blurted out. "Am I a robot or a machine?"

"I think I will have to take over here because there is so much to explain and so little time. Do you have any idea about the human-angel-demon mechanics here on Earth?"

This time, Jassi spoke clearly. "Maa's ghost, the old lady you were trying to warn while she got killed by a truck, has been telling me weird story about angels, demons, and a demon-angel girl touch by humans and what not. It makes little sense to me. That is the only thing I've heard."

"Yeah, yeah. Your Maa was the one to have invoked the whole series of misadventures as a child because of her innocence and ignorance. Though it was not as if she is a sinner but she has certainly put the world of humans and that of angels in grave danger. Probably, demons are in danger too but we do not know for sure. The crux of the story is that there is a galaxy called Dark Kingdom. No one really knows what goes on there because no one has ever come back from there. All was fine until Heaven and Darkness Kingdom were stationary – fixed at their own places. Demons and angels used to play their usual games on Earth - demon trying to steal human souls and angels trying to protect the humanity from eternal damnation.

When two of our best warrior-angels were protecting your Maa from the demon that had attacked her, the Dark Kingdom started shifting towards Heaven. Hence, they had to be called back in the middle of their mission. Your Maa, who was but a child then, made the biggest mistake of the angels' millenniums and give rise to a power which we don't know is black or white. We do know now that she eats humans – along with their souls and auras. She wipes out the entire existence of a human.

When our warrior angels came to know about this powerful mysterious girl, we needed someone to counter her if the need arises. Angels and humans collaborated together to produce you. You were the best invention we could come up with. The idea was that you'll be like a normal human till the age of 21 and then, once you are ready, we'll introduce you to your superpowers.

Like the other girl, you have no scent of Purity and no scent of Evil – and you are difficult to trace."

"How old was I when my parents…urm…my human inventors died?" Jassi asked in a cold voice. She did not know what to feel. She was an invention…like a robot. She did not have any parents to begin with.

"We produced you as a 5-year old but immediately after you were complete, something happened to Parminder and Sarla and they disappeared. Their souls and auras disappeared. We haven't been able to figure out yet what happened to them. We have been trying to relate the incident to the dark angel girl but she should not have been more than seven years old at the time. She is the only creature we know that is capable of achieving such a thing. But we did not find any proof of her presence.

We thought you've disappeared too. We tried to trace you but we couldn't. Before your Maa died, some angels saw you running near gurudwara in Agra. We tried to contact you but we couldn't enter the premises. The energy of the place bars any entrance except those of humans. We were thinking of the ways to contact you, when we saw your Maa leaving the premises. I followed her to Kamal's house and listened to their communication in my invisible form.

I listened to her talking to you too.

I was trying to talk to her and know more about you when I suddenly saw a demon travelling at a hypersonic speed ready to strike your Maa. Before I could do anything, she was killed. I immediately trapped her soul and body inside Kamal's premises and warded off the area – in the hope that I could meet you one day.

I have been waiting for an opportunity to talk to you and this seemed like a good time.

We are not safe anywhere in the Universe now but this hut is my base.

Anything else you want to know?"

"What do you want from me?," said Jassi.

"I want you to come with me and get trained to fight the dark angel."

"Sorry. I need to leave this place right now" and without any warning, Jassi ran through the hut to the Hansraj College where she sat on a stone slab to wait for Kamal.

Her body was shivering…and she was on the verge of tears.

What was she? What did she do to deserve this? She did not forget her parents or childhood. She had no parents or childhood.

She sat there rocking herself to and forth to soothe herself until Kamal arrived.
