34 Innocent till proven Guilty. (Chapter 33)

"You were right ..they're gone." Drake says entering the room in a huff. He starts to pace and Ryan looks defeated, but victorious.

"Wait what?" Lavria asks hands on hips.

"The Lightning's, they're gone." Drake repeats. I smile. "How did you know?" He questions folding his arms, taking deep inhales.

"My Father is a smart man. He knew I wouldn't be able to kill Karina. Somehow he found out we were soulmates. When Isla was found dead in my room, he knew it would make us look bad. It would start war between Valtor and Haydren. He couldn't risk that, but even more so He didn't expect you to make such a big deal out of a maid's death. I was supposed to kill Karina. I couldn't. He was disappointed when I told him I wouldn't. He came to visit me in the Dungeons before my trial. He said that if I plead guilty to killing Isla, he would spare Karina. And if I didn't plead guilty, he would find someone else to kill her. I would never wager with her life. So I plead guilty." my blood boils, and I feel something stirring, new and hungry for blood. I sit up, and make my way over to the window. The sun, was soft and warm. I looked out the window too see if I could see any glimpse of her riding back on a horse. Coming back home, to me. But nothing, just trees. "What are we doing to get her back?" I ask.

"Nothing." He says. I swear I was gonna explode.

"What do you mean NOTHING?"

"When Karina kills the bastard she will come back. I know my sister. She could've killed him in his place. She wouldn't of willingly gone with him if she didn't need answers from him. Or if there was something she needed to do. She'll be back Damien. But trust me, we need to let her be, whatever it is she needs to do she needs to do alone." He says. I can tell is serious but troubled about his sister.

"I'm sorry Ryan." My muscles tense. "I should've protected her."

"It's not your fault." He says smiling.

"No it's yours.." Drake says shakily to Ryan as his expression is cold. "What does Kion have on you that you would give up your own sister!?" The disgust radiating from his words. Ryan's teeth clenched but he couldn't meet his eyes. Drake moved closer to him and grabbed him by his collar. Lifting him up in one swift motion. I started to move break it up but Ryan waves telling me to stand down. Lavria had her hand over her mouth. Ryan took a large breath.

"When I saw Isla's body..The way she was killed was familiar to me. It was to weird as it was an exact replica. Remember when Father used to make us study old murders committed on Haydren?" Ryan asks and Drake nods slightly as the memory comes back to him. "The way Isla was killed was almost exact same to one of the unsolved murders. I thought that a little someone came along with your entourage Damien. I wrote to Kion, to investigate It. I couldn't be the one to do it as I was the new king, people were going to be watching me. Kion said he would do it in secret and let me know when he found something. But then it was your trial, you plead Guilty. I told him to stop investigating that the deal was off but, he was pissed. He came here said he had information. He told me it couldn't have been you. That the way Isla was killed, was too similar to the other murders. He didn't want to help, he said that if I didn't give him something he really wanted he would tell the Lightning's that I was investigating someone from Haydren. That it would cause the biggest war in history and the kingdom would fall. I told him I didn't care and that he could Fuck off. I didn't know he was gonna do that to Karina, I would never of made the deal, instead I would've butchered his heart." Drake loosened his grip slightly. "Karina can handle herself Drake, better than any of us. I know Karina, she'll leave when she WANTS to leave. She can protect herself, we taught her well." Drake smirks And lets go. "When Karina gets what she wants out of him she'll come back herself. I'm not worried for her, I'm a little worried on what she'll do to him." They both laugh. "I trust her Drake." He says. Drake looks up to him.

"I trust her, I don't trust him." He retorts.

"Neither do I..you said the murders were from Haydren." i ask. Ryan nods. I look back towards the window. "Then we need to go there. I'm sick of being treated like shit that can be discarded anywhere. My parents left me here to rot and I want revenge." My knuckles going white.

"We can't go there. We don't know anyone, no one will help us and if 3 Nightslayers are found in Haydren. We will be killed." Drake says.

"Four." Lavria says. "I'm coming too." She smiles at Ryan.

"Don't worry, my sister will help us." I say. "I have a few friends too." I smile. "But we need Karina. Or there is no chance of us getting out alive. There is something deeper going on here. We have just scratched the surface. Too many secrets coming to light. Trust me, Karina makes my Parents nervous. We will need her." I say.

"Fine." Ryan says. "Let's go get her."
