Trials and Errors

She eyed Jay till he sighed and plucked off some blades of grass in frustration, before grudgingly following her. He rubbed his eyes as he walked straight, following the sound of Olivia's voice. It was not until she heard a loud thud, did Olivia turn to look back.

He had bumped into someone, which had resulted in him falling down with the stranger on top of him. Olivia quickly helped them up, and the stranger dusted his black suit as soon as he got up.

The stranger had cat-like eyes with a cold gaze and a calm demeanor. His hair was surprisingly of a bright mint color, styled and pin straight. He had various bags in both of his hands, with a car key in his right hand. The aura he emitted was too strong and too cold to just be of any ordinary person's.

He noticed Olivia studying him up and so turned away from Jay to stare back at her blankly.

When Olivia noticed him staring, she apologized swiftly, but he refused to turn his gaze away. It was as if he was onto them.

He didn't pay them much attention as he walked right past them a moment later, into the gates of the apartment building.

"What a rude ass man!" Jay exclaimed, dusting himself off.

"That was a weird position to be in though Jay. The man probably had a gay panic!"

"Well men seem to have it around me!" Jay exclaimed, flipping his hair. He was pretty confident about his looks, and flirted around easily.

"Oh come on!"

"I have a good feeling about that guy," Olivia said, not taking her eyes off of the man till his thin silhouette slowly vanished in the winding path. "And by good feeling, I mean bad feeling. If you know what I mean!"

"Yeah yeah, but all these about Mr. I'm-so-cool?"

"You didn't notice him really did you?"

"He knocked me down and didn't even have the decency to apologize!"

"Oh shut up Jay! I'm talking about how he had the tattoo of a purple heart on his arm."

"So what about it?"

Olivia looked at Jay in disbelief. The boss's file had clearly stated how the target had a purple heart tattoo inked on his arm right below his index finger. It came off as a shock to her that Jay had forgotten something from a case file just like that, since he was pretty well known for his attention to the tiny details when it came to things like these.

"Let's just go back, I'll explain on the way," Olivia said and pulled him away by the ear, not because of his forgetfulness, but because she noticed a figure staring at them through a glass wall in one of the apartments. It was none other than the man who had bumped into them earlier, and to keep away from raising suspicion, she had to pull Jay away.

"Ow! What was that?" Jay asked after you pushed him inside your ride back. The taxi driver seemed concerned about your behavior too, but to keep from drawing unnecessary attention to yourself, you had to apologize to him.

"Did you notice the cat-eyed man there?"

"Oh yes I did! He bumped into me you dumbass!"

"Did you just call me a dumbass? Good thing you're my friend, or you wouldn't be here alive."

"Alright kid, I know that I'm your friend. Now get to the point!"

"Oh gosh! That guy was staring at us through a glass wall!"

"Come on Miss. Gurl! He was probably drooling over this booty of mine!"

Olivia knocked him on his head slightly, and rolled her eyes. "How are you even the brains of this mission? That dude knew something about us. I just feel it in my bones."

"That's entirely possible too," Jay said before turning his attention to the busy Korean market streets through which they were passing by.

"We should shop here sometime! They have quite an array of interesting stuff here!" Jay exclaimed as his eyes lit up with curiosity and excitement.

Olivia realized that it was no use trying to make this all about the mission while she was there with such a sunshine like Jay, and so to go along with it, would have to be her best bet.

"Alright. Jay, let's make a deal."

"What deal?"

"Let's finish this mission as soon as possible. And by that I mean before the one week we've been assigned here."

"And?"

"And then we'll delay the report and take the rest of the time to tour around Korea! How does that sound like?"

She watched in pure delight as his face lit up like fireworks on the fourth of July.

"Yes! It's a deal! I still can't believe that you had an idea like this though."

"Hey! I'm a pretty fun person too! When I wanna be, that is."

"We'll see how fun you are in Itaewon tonight," Jay said and smirked, leaving Olivia confused.

"What do you mean?"

"Gurl that place is literally a huge ass club!"

"Shit what? I didn't come prepared to go clubbing!"

Jay sat there with a smirk spreading wide on his face. It was as if he knew something that she didn't.

"What?"

"You didn't come prepared. But I did. I packed some good clothes for you, so there's absolutely no need to fret!"

"Oh no!" Olivia exclaimed, since she knew very well that 'No need to fret' in the words of Jay would mean that there was every reason to fret at the very moment.

And true to that, as soon as they got back to their rooms in the hotel, Olivia was practically forced to try on different dresses till she found the one. She was tired, sore and very sour by the end of it, and Jay's treatment of her like she was his personal model posing at different angles hadn't helped her either.

They had finally settled on a thigh length red wrap dress that hugged her thin frame at the right places. Jay made her wear high heels to go with the dress, which Olivia only named 'The hooker heels'. Not that she had anything against hookers, but the fact that those heels made the wearer feel like they were being punished for some crime that they had committed, definitely didn't go well with her.

"Gosh I'm done for the day! I'm exhausted as heck!"

"Oh no no Miss. Girl, we're just getting started."

After quite a lot of verbal and physical fights, Jay finally forced Olivia to wear a full face of makeup.

"I look like a clown."

"No, you look like the Queen that you are!"

"A queen doesn't need makeup Jay!"

"But a queen does when she needs to fit in with the crowd in Itaewon!"

Olivia sighed as she stared at her reflecting in the mirror. The image was exactly who she had aimed to be when she was younger. But life had taken a weird toll on her mental ability to actually bother to become that person.

Jay watched in absolute silence as Olivia took the time to get used to her beautiful new silhouette in the slightly blurry mirror. He wouldn't ever admit it, but he wanted to let his happiness out with his tears since he knew so well how much depression had taken a toll on his friend, that she had given up on giving much care about herself.

"Let's go then! We'll catch this mf today!" she exclaimed, the stride in her steps bringing about a new form of confidence in her.
