1 Chapter 1: Rain

Chu ShanYi angrily slammed her keyboard her as another one of her teammates is shot to the ground with a photon beam gun. Her team had already been feeding the enemy and the extraction point is already behind them.

"Can't you be more careful? You idiots are all push-overs!" Nova cussed over the microphone.

Three out of six had already died on their team the only hope for them is to get back to the extraction point, take the power ups that they can get and fight their way to the opponent's flag.

"Listen to me carefully Nova and Fang… Our only hope is that extraction point. First, we need to lose the enemies that are behind us. Next, Fang will cast his ability [Smoke Screen] for us to safely move throughout the map and run back to the extraction point. Next, Nova… I want you to use your ability [Brave] to raise your defense points by 10000 and shield Fang and I. After that, I'll buy you some time to come at the extraction point and pick the remaining items. If the plan fails, I'll handle the rest." ShanYi said with a smile on her face. The Black Swan never fails on everything that she plans.

"Alright sis. Let's go." Nova said raising her eyebrows in an optimistic manner. Fang was quiet over the microphone but his mind was focused on the game.

3… 2… 1…

"Go!" ShanYi, Fang and Nova then activated their anti-smoke and flash vision as Fang threw the smoking grenade on the ground. The enemy team suddenly went vision-blind as the three made their way to the extraction point. The effect of the smoke was only for 10 seconds and they need to hurry at the extraction point.

As they have arrived, another three enemy was already outposted behind the trees at the opening of the extraction point. ShanYi caught sight of the enemies and told Nova and Fang to hide behind the bushes first.

"Black Swan, there are enemies at the extraction point what do we do?"

"We escaped three enemies with smoke screen right? Even if you raise your defense points to 10000, you couldn't withstand attacks from those three enemies who took the loot from the extraction point. Now, it's time for Plan B."

"Plan B? What do you suppose we do now? We're surrounded."

"We're going to fish."

"H—Huh?"

"My grandfather always say that the only way to get the fish is to lure it to a trap. Fang's agility is pretty high so he could use backing you up with the attacks, while you raise you defense points to the point where you'll reset and allot all of the points to defense leaving your attack on 0."

"This is risky Black Swan. But, If this works and we get the championship cup, I'll treat you to dinner."

"You bet."

For a moment, they waited for the right opportunity until…

"Run!"

Black Swan gave the signal and the attacks were deliberately directed to Nova. Her attack points was 0 and all of her points were invested to defense so hit points of enemies should be 0 or 10 only equivalent to her current stats of defense. Fang was precise and accurate. He made use of his agility as an accessory to lessen the damage taken by Nova by deflecting the attacks made by the enemies.

The Black Swan with her rail gun of death, the Black Thorn positioned herself behind the bushes. As the enemies were busy taking their attacks hitting Fang and Nova, she made sure to eliminate every single one that was positioned in front of them.

'NW -456, 208 , SW -476, 206 , W -430, 207'

The coordinates of the enemies are flashing on her mind as she released consecutive attacks from a covered area. The Black Thorn wasn't an ordinary rail gun. The gun was designed by ShanYi's -ex boyfriend. It specifically targets the enemies once their location had been spotted by the gun. It automatically gives coordinates once the enemy has been marked with 'Kiss of Death'.

ShanYi then finished off with another bang and the game has been decided as unanimous decision. Although they haven't got the chance to destroy the enemies' flag, ShanYi killed all six players in total with 0 deaths.

Crowds of joyful players shouted happily as the winner has been proclaimed. The announcers then acknowledged ShanYi for her amazing team management and beautiful execution of skills.

"The Swan Queen is very awesome tonight! Calm, tranquil and elegant that's what she is!"

"Team WeiLong is very succesful tonight. No wonder why they're called the miracle team! The Black Swan is a miracle, WeiLong is a miracle… Chu ShanYi is a Goddess!"

ShanYi was thoroughly happy with the result of the game. Even Nova, her formidable enemy once became friendly with her in just a month being inside WeiLong. But still yet, ShanYi wasn't completely happy. She thought about her contract on WeiLong and wanted to renew it.

She scrolled on her phone trying to find the contact number of Jason Pei, the manager of WeiLong… But before she could call him, her phone rang. As the name flashed on her phone, she answered it and kept the speaker on minimal volume for no one to hear but only… Her…

"Chu ShanYi… This is Jason Pei, I have a news for you."

"Was it good or bad?"

"I don't know. Maybe good or bad?"

"Let's cut to the chase Jason… About my contract can I—"

"I— I'm sorry ShanYi."

"What are you sorry for? I haven't finished what I was going to say."

"It's about your contract. WeiLong had already took in fresh players and wanted to replace old players. Well…"

"Applying for renewal isn't allowed?"

"WeiLong is indeed closing renewals. I—I'm sorry ShanYi. I'll find you another team to play… You can just—"

"No. No Jason… It's alright. I'll just go back to Beijing."

"I know you feel bad right now ShanYi. Let's talk…"

"No. I'm alright. Seriously. Ah also, I want to ask, if the contract expires, what will happen to my account?"

After ending the call, ShanYi headed straight outside the event venue where she was met by Nova who approached her and said...

"Shan-Shan I told you that I'll treat you to dinner tonight if we win didn't I?"

Nova's real name was Sophia Chen. She's a daughter of an opera singer. Her mother wanted her to enter opera yet Sophia chose gaming instead of singing.

"Yeah. You told me… But I'm sorry I'm not hungry."

"Ey. You're such a killjoy. I liked you back then when you were giggly and jumpy. What happened to the old ShanYi huh? Tell me where ShanYi is you stupid ghost!"

Sophia started stretching ShanYi's cheeks which then turned red.

"Cut it outttt Sophiaaaa! Alright, alright. I'll go have dinner with you!"

"Yaaaay! I love you sis Shan-Shan."

"Gosh."

It was raining cats and dogs outside and the downpour also danced with the thunderstorm. Watching the heavy downpour of rain, ShanYi could not help but get sad. She was only playing RISE ONLINE for 5 years but she was then counted as a veteran player who was evicted right then.

Looking at the bright side, the experiences and insights which she gained from WeiLong were truly amazing and useable in tight drafts of situations. Also, she had made good friends like Sophia and Yuen from inside the team.

"Shan-Shan, what are you dazing at?"

"The rain… It's heavy."

"I have an umbrella. We can share."

"Thank you."

Opening the umbrella, ShanYi and Sophia walked on the streets amidst the rain. While walking, ShanYi thought to herself…

'Even though I'm no longer part of the team, goodbyes aren't necessary.'
