3 Chapter 2: Further away

I have started heading to the church and I have been walking for 25 minutes.

Bright white walls with roses planted on the gate. A tall white building amongst the green grass underneath.

I enter the gates of the church and looked at the clock attached to the wall. Just in time.

I wipe off the sweat that has gathered on my face and entered the white building. Filled with golden laces, tapestries and paintings of holy priests and the such, it was extraordinarily beautiful. I haven't visited the church for quite some time, more or less 4 years. I stopped coming after that accident with my father.

"Good day, my lady." A tall young man approached me. He knelt to the ground and asked for my hand. I gave him my hand and he kissed it while closing his eyes.

I blushed at the sight. "Thank you, Jacob." The brown haired lad with his red blazing eyes let goes of my hand and smiled. "You're welcome, my lady."

"Oh, Eaiou! You're already here! I have waited quite a while for you! Weren't you brought here by carriage? I mean as the son of the king isn't that normal?" A girl at my age with brown hair and blue eyes asked while walking towards me.

"I wasn't.. really... I wasn't really-"

"That's enough Louise! Can't you see that she isn't feeling comfortable about that?" Jacob scoffed, crossing his arms and raising his eyebrows.

"Yes, Louise, that is enough! Can't you see that the princess doesn't want to hear that?" A girl with yellow hair and green eyes replied.

"Evian!" Jacob said as he smilled at her.

Evian Raine and Louise Vinera. Two daughters of counts. They were the only people who became close with Yvytt and the only people that didn't make her feel that she was useless. However, Jacob, a brown-haired and red-eyed lad who had a special place in Yvytt's heart.

Her heart would skip a beat and her cheeks would turn red and hot when he's around her.

"Thank you, Evian." I said lowering my head and smiling.

"Anytime." She said as she grabs my chin to meet her gaze.

"Are we too early? Why aren't there any people here yet?" Evian continued. Only a few people were there, however, it was probably just for the purpose of judging her. "It's because nobody would care about a princess's magnus ceremony who's not even favored by the king." Louise said.

I lowered my head and thought to myself that she was right. No matter what I do, I would still not be able to do anything that would make my parents favor me. Why was I born so useless?

"Stop it, Louise!" Jacob sneered and walked towards me lifting my face and wiping my tears.

"Are you alright, Yvytt?" Evian asked.

"Yes, I'm alright. Please don't worry about me." I said as I smiled and wiped the tears on face with the back of hands.

"Why are you being such a baby about it? Sheesh. Here, take a look at Evian's dress, it's green with real gold lacing. Look at my dress, it's yellow with ruby ornaments, even Jacob has a fancier attire than you. You don't even dress like a princess, let alone gain the right to use the title." She said with a high and demanding tone.

"I understand." I replied.

"That's it. I have had enough. Louise get out of here, I'll deal with you later." Erian snapped, glaring hard at Louise.

Louise hurriedly leaves the church and proceeds outside.

For reasons unknown to me, Louise is horribly afraid of Erian. She just orders her around. Even if their social ranks are of the same importance, Erian manages to dominate Louise.

"Thank you, Erian." I smiled at her.

"Anytime." She said as the announcer announced the priest's arrival.

I guess even as a princess, I was still not enough for the presence of the holy priest. I sigh.

The simple program started and finally it was time for the mana test to begin.

The priest takes out a magic item that seemed to look like a ball. It reflected my image, yet it also shimmered a glowing light.

"Please put your hands on the Pulyeras." The priest asked me.

What? What is that? I could only conclude that it was the name of this odd looking ball.

I tried to place my hand on the ball but the priest hissed at me. He stared at me and then onto the silver bowl on the side which contained holy water. I immediately understood that that was the Pulyeras.

I dipped my hands on the water and slightly flinched on the cold water's impact. I dried my hands with the towel beside the bowl.

I went back to the priest and held on to the glass.

"Thy holiness, please use this Crystal to measure this girl's mana. Blessed thy be." He chanted some words I couldn't fathom. I had no idea what to do so, I just stood there.

"Tomorrow is your birthday, am I right?" He whispered as he leaned in front of me.

"Yes." The young looking priest smiled as he stood back up from bending his body.

"Blessed thy be." He said once more.

Suddenly a huge gush of light came from the crystal and shone everyone.

"This girl has almost infinite mana." He announced.

Everyone released gasps and you could hear whispers start to commence. It remove the stake in my heart that has been buried for a long time. I smiled ever so happily.

"Now, we shall begin the affinity test."

A few people came in wearing white everywhere, they brought with them various materials on their hands. They lined up in front of me while the priest moved to the side for a while.

I followed my instinct and walked closer to the items in front of me.

I went through every single one of them.

A block of magical soil, a bucket of mana water, a magical jar filled with compressed air, a magical torch and etc.

I walked past through them but none of them showed any reaction.

Pickaxe, no reaction.

Sculpting materials, no reaction.

Paintbrushes, no reaction.

Holy grail, no reaction.

Cursed doll, no reaction.

Things started to get quite stressful for me. I have made it to the end, however, no reaction was found.

"This girl has no talent." The priest hesitantly said.

Everyone released their relief and started grinning and holding back their laughter. And here I thought that I was finally going to be noticed by my family, however, my dreams seemed to have fluttered further away.
