See No Evil, Speak No Evil

He called for him, yet didn't find him on the ground level. Then he went upstairs to search, only checking the rooms he was permitted to enter. Still no sign of him.

He ventured downstairs, looking without calling his name. And that was a mistake.

One room he passed had a door that was slightly ajar; he wasn't allowed to go in there. But as he walked by, he saw Di Gaohun's back with someone's arms wrapped around it.

K-k-kiss???

Xin Tuyong was frozen on the spot, and as the two people separated, he accidently made eye contact with the female party. It was the lady from the kitchen.

In that split second, panic overtook him and he ran all the way upstairs, stumbling to the top. His heart raced and his face blushed like a tomato.

'I didn't see anything,' he repeated to himself. Confrontation was inevitable, but denial was the way to go.

He spent his waiting time double-checking each room he cleaned, except for, of course, the downstairs area.

Xin Tuyong refused to step foot down another step.

Di Gaohun came in the room while he re-wiped a windowsill, and Xin Tuyong's heart jumped.

Fear clutched his throat, but he forced himself to speak clearly. Di Gaohun was an adult, it was expected that he'd do things like that.

"I finished. Would you be able to check and see if I missed anything?" Xin Tuyong kept his voice steady.

"Sure." Di Gaohun's face was completely composed and he acted normal.

His calmness added to Xin Tuyong's trepidation. No one knew whether or not Di Gaohun was aware of him during that... sensitive moment, but Xin Tuyong had a feeling that the woman told him.

No sign of distress showed itself on the man's fair face, unlike the jittery tomato next to him.

"Is something wrong? You've been staring for a while."

"Hm? Ah -- No! Everything is fine!" He stammered and took a small step back, but it still caught the eyes of Di Gaohun.

"I've checked everything and it's all clean. You may leave now." Di Gaohun looked Xin Tuyong up and down, then stared straight into his soul. "Let me know if you need help with anything."

"I will, thank you."

Sweat rolled down Xin Tuyong's brow and his shoulders were tense up to his ears. He stiffly walked away as he felt eyes burning holes in his back.

"By the way," Di Gaohun's voice made Xin Tuyong freeze. "The boss came in today. Have you met her yet? She contacted you before. Huan Mao."

Xin Tuyong felt his soul escape his body through his gaping mouth. That really was Huan Mao that he met earlier.

"Uh... briefly. I haven't formally introduced myself yet, but I will next time. See you!"

"Mhm."

Di Gaohun said nothing as Xin Tuyong made his hasty escape for the last time. He left to rest in the employees' quarters, not seeing the suspicious eyes narrow.

As he flopped onto the bed, he let out a great sigh. A thousand confused thoughts flitted through his head like butterflies migrating for the winter. He could barely form a coherent thought.

Before he knew it, his eyelids were drooping and he drifted off to a dreamland.
