Preparing to Leave

Seren walked down the stairs of the inn to the dining room. Behind her floating were the three unconscious guards. The children upstairs were sleeping, after all, that they had just been through, Seren had asked them to rest.

The dining room was filled with multiple dirty sits and tables. The kitchen that was opened to the area was also messy. It was like nobody had been in the inn for years, though the rooms that Seren had seen where clean. It seemed that the inn had actually closed down and the Lunar cult had just made it their base. Entering the dining area, Seren placed the guards onto three chairs. Grabbing a seat behind her, she sat down, contemplating what to do with them.

"Should I kill them or let them live? If I kill them then I won't have any trouble in the future, the cult won't be able to find me and I can just blame it on the magic beasts… If I let them live, That could be my ticket to getting out of the city with unenslaved orphans… I can change my manners to seem like a noble, but I need something to show them that I am an actually high born without showing my magic... The guards could make me look more like an aristocrat but…But I can't let them go after that, that just spells chaos… I could make them sign a slave contract but… " Multiple thoughts flashed into her mind before Seren settled on one."I'll let them live for the facade, after all, they seem to not have anything to do with the Lunar Cult. I'll place a sight worm in them to see their movements if they try anything I'll kill them." She said while placing the spell. A mist of white that was shaped in the form of a worm entered the ears of the three men. Seren could feel a connection to the men's minds.

A sight worm was a spell that allowed someone to enter a person mind and see the person actives when they are awake. This, however, was banned by all three kingdoms, because of its ability to enter someone's mind without any confirmation from the person.

"Containment," She placed the spell on them."I remove the spell of eternity." Seren could feel the mana flow from their bodies back into her.

Slowly the three guards, awoken. All of them scanned the area, taking in where they were and what was happening to and around them before focusing their eyes on Seren. Seren had changed her mannerism from her normal stance to one that flowed with elegance and nobility.

"Great magician, we are just mercenaries, we have no relation to the whatever was happening before. Please, we beg for your mercy. We won't tell anyone about you," One of the mercenaries spoke seemingly the leader of the three. "We will even swear an oath to the gods to never take about what occurred here." The two other mercenaries nodded their heads at his words.

"Hmm...I will give you a chance to live. If you do what I say." Seren replied. Each word was spoken with grace.

"We will do anything you say!" The leader responded quickly. "Anything to live, we will even follow you to the end of the earth, to even the tribes of magic beasts anywhere you go we'll follow." The two others bobbed their heads again. "I, Tran, the leader of the Seak Gang, the son of Gran the third, swear to the gods that I shall follow and obey this magician right here in front of me everywhere she goes. If I do not, let the anger of the gods strike me wherever and kill me right there." Seren could feel the holy mana of the gods enter the building, before shortly leaving.

Seren eyebrows raised by themselves, she wasn't expecting this to happen. ' A smart person, he knew I was going to kill them whether or not they helped me, ' Seren analyzed.

"You fools, do the same thing before I smack the life out of you. If I do this then you have to do it too."Tran grunted in pain. The sudden rush of mana inside of him made his body feel troubled, after all, he had no mana core inside of him to guide the mana somewhere.

The other mercenaries quickly followed seemingly scared of the threat that Tran had proposed.

"I remove the hex of containment." Seren quickly stood up from the chair, feeling the mana flow back into her. "We will leave this city today, You, Tran, follow me, while you two, Ines and Gray, go get supplies that will last us for a 9-day journey, here is the money you will use to get the supplies, buy some regal looking clothes too, ones will fit me and some for the children upstairs too, the shops should be opened by now," Seren spoke looking at the now slightly bright window.

Placing her hand over the black ring with purple gems embedded inside it, the ring flashed a bit before a small sack came out.

Tran's eyes widened at the display. 'She even has a space distortion ring, she must be a fallen miss of some rich high-class clan, how else can she have this, even the magician that we served before didn't have this.' Tran had misunderstood, the ring that Seren had she had taken from the magician that they worked with before. The magician just never showed the ring to them, in fear of them betraying him.

Tossing the pouch to the two, Seren watched them shuffle away.

"Miss, what do you need my assistance for?" Tran asked.

"Do you know the way to the city of Peles?" Seren asked.

"The city of criminals, my lady? You want to go to the city of criminals?" Tran asked.

"Yes, now answer my question, not ask one," Seren replied sharply.

"Yes I do, my men and I have gone there sometimes for missions. Forgive me, for asking but why would you want to go there. All that there are orphans, criminals, mercenaries and some corrupted lords. Nothing really that can raise you back into a distinguished noble. Forgive me if I jumped into the wrong conclusion."

Seren raised her brows again, this man was more suited to be a strategist than a mercenary.

"No, you guessed the right conclusion, however, that city is a gold mine. You will understand later but now I just need you to follow me." Seren responded. She walked to the staircase, Tran trailed behind. "What do you know about the mission that you were doing from before?" She inquired.

"All I know my lady, is that I was supposed to guard the magician, buy some child slaves and done. At least that was what was written on the quest sheet." Tran responded.

Seren studied the information that Tran had just given her. 'So the lunar cult has started their studies of the human mana core.' Seren reached the room that held the children. Gently opening it, to not wake up the children up, she entered the room.

"I want you to clean that up." She said, pointing to the mutilated body that lay on the chair. "I don't want the children waking up to that."

Tran's eyes trembled before regaining their normality. "Yes, my lady, I shall do it quickly."

"I'll be going out. Watch the inn and get some hot water ready for when the children wake up, I want them to be clean and dressed when I come back." Seren said before casting her shadow spell.

Moving out of the inn and onto the street, Seren faced the sun again. Frowning she cast a temperature spell on herself before continuing on her journey. Changing back to the human form, she exited out of the noble wall before changing back into her shadow until she reached the outer wall.

"Mana sense, tell me where the magic beasts are," Seren murmured, entering the tunnel again.

"Dangerous animals are still in the north," The spell answered.

Nodding her head, Seren exited the tunnel before returning back to her shadow self, she left, going the north.
