He Was Left 4 Dead

[Medium: Game]

[Game: Left 4 Dead, No Mercy]

[Objective: Reach the evac point on the roof of Mercy Hospital and board the helicopter alive]

[Tutorial Help: All players gain the temporary ability to subconsciously know the way to the next safehouse like a sixth sense. It's just like the game of Hot & Cold you played as a kid, but to the death!]

[Hint because the woman won't stop crying: The obvious will be pointed out. You and all survivors in the entire world are immune to the zombie infection, you'll never turn, so you don't need to worry about that when one has their jaws on your neck!]

Jason chuckled at the message while he looked around for the crying woman. She had light brown hair and was wearing an extra large white T-shirt, like she'd been kidnapped from her boyfriend's house. Luckily for her though, she was wearing slippers.

Slippers? Any apparel would be nice, it's bloody cold here! Jason realized they were on the rooftops of the apartment complex where you start in the No Mercy map of Left 4 Dead. None of the main characters were around him, he thought, but it's been awhile since he played the old game so he wasn't sure.

It was pouring rain, but thankfully, System-kun dropped them off under a blue tarp. And under that blue tarp was a pile of ammo and four 9 millimeter pistols.

He's never seen a gun in his life, but knows it by looking at them? Jason shrugs and grabs one. Skills that give instinctual knowledge are weird, but greatly appreciated.

"Ah Ahem!"

One of the players coughed annoyingly. Strike one in Jason's book. Get ready first, then play classroom icebreakers.

The woman is clearly not trying, she just sits on the floor in tears. Jason figured she didn't even spend her points. Thankfully, at least one player is at the table getting ready though.

"AHEM!"

Strike two. Jason didn't even look at him, the other player just broke off a leg from the table after he pocketed some of the ammo and put the last two guns on the ground.

Jason observed the player that doesn't look helpless after he fashioned the table leg melee weapon. He's a ripped, black man wearing black sweats, a do-rag, and a thick gold chain.

Jason nods to the man and gets one in return before the both of them finish taking the table apart.

Sobbing continues to echo in the background.

"AHEMMMM!"

"For fucks sake Dolores, we're fighting zombies not dark lords here," Jason has his sidearm ready, a table leg in his left hand and the other tucked into his pants that he tied the elastic band as tight as possible.

"What?"

Jason finally got a good look at the guy. He was a good 275 pounds and stood about 5'8" tall. His hair looked like it hadn't been washed in days and he was tugging on his glasses to make sure they sat where he wanted to for a dramatic effect. Behind them were beady black eyes that suggested he would leave his comrades to die behind him.

"The fuck you spend your points on, fatass?" the black man asked.

"My thoughts exactly," Jason added. "You had a chance to lose weight and have a healthy body in a situation that will almost certainly kill you. What better choice was there?"

The fatty paused. "Now that you're FINALLY listening to me, don't you think... uhh... that there are more important things to discuss?

"What..." the woman sobbed softly, "What points?"

Jason looked at the competent man before ignoring the mess that hadn't gotten off the ground and the both of them settled with glares pointed towards the fatass.

"I sleep in the nude."

"So?" Jason asked.

"I needed my glasses and how could I go into a horror situation without clothes... I thought... I know I can use the plot! I played this game so many times in the past, I know exactly where to go, you need me!"

Raindrops are the only sounds to be heard. At least the woman isn't crying.

"Whatever, I guess you don't look at your pop-ups either. I bought a Firearm Handling skill, if we get the chance, I'd suggest getting one." Jason looked at his group. "I don't know what's happening, but it was a long way to get to the hospital in the game.

Jason paused, "If you don't want to shoot anything, just follow us and carry ammo. I'm Jason by the way, let's get through this alive. Did everyone here play the game and know the types of special zombies? Should have a review anyway."

"Deshawn. Hit 'em in the head. Fatasses explode and bring more fun, don't fuck with crying women, watch out for tongues and spitters, and save bombs for the big ones."

"There are no spitters in the first one, that was Left 4 Dead 2!" the fatty squealed.

"Well, it's real life. Chill out man, better prepared than not," Jason said.

The fatty huffed and picked up a gun, finally. "I'm Spencer," he mumbled.

"How can you people be okay with this? We were kidnapped and what, you're talking about... about zombies!" the woman cried out.

"Isekai dream for waifus," Spencer proclaimed proudly.

"I was facing life in prison, this shit is a dream come true," Deshawn laughed.

Jason started laughing along with him, "That's awesome! I just don't like to stress the small stuff."

"Small stuff?" The woman raised her hands exasperatedly, "This isn't small! We're gonna die!"

"Eh, just follow us. We'll get through this," Jason said. "What's your name, I'll show you how to handle this."

"Jenny..." she whispered in a voice barely audible enough to be heard.

He handed her a pistol and showed the safety to her as the fatty watched closely.

After reloading it a few times and showing the proper grip, they were good to go.

"Now, let's get out of this rain and through the apartment. We need to collect some clothes on the way down, then get to the safe house the pop-up mentioned. Spencer, you said you remember the game, do you know what the first safe house was in?"

"It was... umm..." Spencer started sweating, "The second part was a subway station, so we need to get to the street, then underground.

"Deadass, let's get moving," Deshawn said before he opened the door with Jason close behind. The two that left made eye contact before they followed behind.
