Rather submit empty sheets!

Tejumole crouched and pointed the mirror to the space in front of her.

After absorbing her blood, the mirror let out a low hum and the spiral began to spin.

The circular movements caused a person to feel dazed as they looked at the hypnotic motions.

Gradually, shapes began to form on the mirror surface, and she soon saw the figure of a man arguing with another person before walking away.

The image shifted to an open area that resembled an uncompleted building. And then there was a blurred face that held a bat and repeatedly struck the victim.

The events playing on the mirror were what happened to the victim about four hours before his death. Everything the mirror showed was from a third-person perspective.

From what she could discern, Tejumole noticed that the attacker had a smaller figure, though she couldn't see the face clearly.

Like always, the crappy mirror only showed her snippets of the entire scene, but she drew her conclusions from those cut images.

Tejumole dropped her hand and the mirror vanished from view. She placed it in the ring with the other items.

She then got to her feet and adjusted her clothes. The information from the mirror was of no use to her.

Placing her hand in her pocket, Tejumole brought out a small circular object that was barely the size of her palm.

Her lips twitched when she saw that the expected lustre had vanished.

"How annoying." Tejumole uttered coldly. This item was a compass she purchased from the system.

Its primary function was to guide her towards a specific direction, where she could find potential clues needed to complete her missions.

Obviously, she had no contact with every sinner she had ever met.

Most times, when the system issued a mission, it would be the first time she heard about a particular target or organization.

If she dove head first into her investigations, she would be like a visually impaired person trying to find grey in a black and white world.

Lagos was a big place. Therefore, to ease her burdens, Tejumole acquired this compass to navigate her path.

Whenever she used it, the compass would shimmer from dull to bright gold depending on how strong the connection was.

For instance, when in range with a person or item directly related to a case, the compass would glow a bright gold.

Following the same operation, the lustre surrounding the compass would vary depending on the influence of an element towards a quest.

Just like the corpse that was taken away.

Tejumole got up early this morning in search for the pieces needed to complete her mission. She drove around for a while and finally noticed a dull hue surrounding the compass.

With its guidance, she arrived in this area and found the corpse.

However, just as she arrived, the police came and blocked the area, so she had to activate Lucid fantasm to conceal her presence.

Tejumole kicked a stone as she glanced at the time.

She had gone through all that trouble only to arrive at a dead-end. The dead guy was gone, and she couldn't find anything useful from the mirror.

The compass had also stopped glowing and even if she banged it like she would an old television, nothing would change.

A while back, she asked Ranta if there was an upgraded version, but he responded with words that made her fume.

Saying, "this is the best tracker you'll ever find in the universe."

Best her foot.

This crappy device only pointed her in the very general direction and most times she was led to a dead-end.

At the end of the day, she still had to do all the work.

Tejumole sighed and twisted her neck. She couldn't help but think the system was making things intentionally difficult for her.

Today was Saturday, and she had scheduled an extra class for 10am. It was currently twenty minutes to ten. Hence, she decided it was time to leave this place.

This alley was honestly very filthy, and she felt uncomfortable seeing the abandoned plastics, broken tiles and other random items just lying around.

They were so disorganized, and she felt an impulse to put the place in order.

However, she ruthlessly crushed that interest as she couldn't bring herself to touch the grime filled objects.

Fixing her clothes, Tejumole activated Teleportation and quickly vanished from the place.

She felt quite peeved after losing her trail and decided to quell her anger by giving her students a surprise test.

Yes, that would liven her mood.

•••

Tejumole sat behind a desk at the front of the lecture room.

It was a smaller class with a hundred seat capacity.

In front of her were about thirty students taking a test with varying expressions on their faces.

The attending students were in their third year, and were the few people who came for the professor's extra lesson.

She did this every Saturday and the class would last for exactly two hours.

The students would sit and listen to her go through the lectures of the week. And if they had to be honest, they were grateful she did this.

However, this also meant that the class wasn't exactly compulsory as it was just a remedial.

Hence, most people chose to stay in their homes and hostels instead of attending the lecture.

These students were the only people out of eighty-nine who came, but they felt complicated.

Today was meant to be a revision class, but who could tell them why their professor suddenly gave a test out of nowhere?

There were only about twenty minutes left until class ended.

On one hand, they couldn't help but thank their stars that they showed up today.

Whatever scores they obtained would be added to their final grades as a bonus at the end of the semester.

They were thankful, but on the other hand, the students couldn't help but sweat after reading the questions.

Was this human language? Save us!

Tejumole glanced at the time and just as eleven clocked, she instructed the students to stop writing.

They followed her order immediately.

If they were caught writing after her voice, the rigid professor would give them a thirty point deduction.

They'd rather submit their empty sheets!

Ha! Who else has experienced the teacher suddenly giving a pop quiz? Those were the days…the rebel inducing days!

Tejumole tormenting the innocent student brings back memories.

Have a lovely day. And thanks for reading. Mwah ;-)
