The Beginning (Arthur’s perspective)

I threw the hoe down into the dirt once more, while my mother added the seeds. We had just finished breakfast, and my brother and sister were out gathering herbs. As usual I helped mom with the fieldwork, but I really wished I could've gone looking with herbs with William, and Amethyst. "Arthur, this should be fine for the day." My mother said smiling at me.

I picked the hoe up once again and swung it over my shoulder. Tired I wiped the sweat from my brow, as I sat down on the grass. My mother gave me a canteen of water, and I gulped it down. My mother was a simple farmer if you couldn't tell, and my father was a knight. When I finished resting, I got back up and started walking back home with mother.

When we got there, father had already left for work. I ran to my room, and got out one of my many fake bows. I then went back outside, and practiced with wooden arrows on a dummy that William, and Amethyst used to train on. After getting multiple bullseyes I sat back again, I laid down and looked up to the beautiful clear sky. As I looked at it I touched the necklace given to me by mother, the pendent was a sun with a single cloud going over it. William had one of his own only it was the moon, while Amethyst had one that looked like the sun was setting.

After a few minutes of staring at the sky, I sat up and stood up. I looked to the forest, and thought m already done with chores so I should be able to help Amethyst and William out. I smiled and dropped my bow, grabbing a nearby empty basket I started to head towards the woods.

When I reached it I started looking around for Amethyst, and William. As I yelled their names all I could hear were the faint sounds of the wildlife that lived in the forest. I continued to walk around when I smelt a strong sense of herbs. I walked in the direction of the smell and found a small clearing. In the small clearing I saw a dead wolf that had been stabbed through the head as well as multiple blood stains. Scared I looked around the rest of the clearing, and I found the two baskets that William, and Amethyst had. I fell back onto the ground terrified of what could've happened to them. I stood back up, and began running through the forest trying to find them. Eventually I found another small clearing, in the clearing there was a person standing at some kind of stone operating table. The person wore all black, and looked like an assassin they also wore a hood over their head. As I payed closer attention to the stone table I saw William, and then I saw Amethyst crying and watching the man do whatever he was doing. I rushed out thinking that the person could've been hurting William, but was stopped by the hand of the person. He had reached his hand back while still looking down at William, and had grabbed my head. He picked me up as though I was a simple bug, and threw me over to where Amethyst was. The person made a quick glance at us and said "leave me alone if you want you brother to live."

"How should I trust you!" I yelled angry. Amethyst grabbed my arm stopping me from charging at the man again and said "it's fine Arthur, he's saving Williams life! Leave him alone!"

Still angry I clenched my fists, but decided to stay where I was and watch. If the person made even the slightest move that seemed like it would hurt William, I would charge again. The person took out a bottle of some weird substance, and poured it all over William. The substance seemed to heal whatever wounds that had been inflicted on William. I continued to watch ready to charge at any time, the person seemed as though they were done with their work though. They walked over to me and said "he'll be fine, why don't you take him home."

I nodded and picked William up, he was heavy but I tried my best not to let him fall. Me and Amethyst walked away from the clearing and the man, but we had no idea where we were. The person yelled from behind us saying "go west you'll get back to you home if you go that way!"

I nodded, and we started walking west.
